they had a terrible team just like us how do you think they got Darnold

We're comparing the team after they got Darnold.  How they got him is moderately irrelevant.

Before they got Darnold the Jets were in WAY worse shape, and hadn't really had a proper quarterback since they signed Favre at the end of his career.

In 2018 the Jets  had the 26th best offense and the 29th best defense.

In 2017 the Colts had the 30th best offense and the 30th best defense.

When I said "objectively true" that the 2017 Colts were worse than the 18 jets, I chose those words carefully.

You want to dial back the nastiness?  If you can't stick to the facts than you're basically conceding.

I don’t know why all these other QB’s get excuses made for them...  Rosen is another example where it’s the team’s fault.  Yet the guy can’t stop throwing interceptions. But at least he tried though right?  Look at Baker looking like he’s regressed tremendously.  They both played the Titans. JB clearly outplayed Baker going against them & in their building.

Yet some people on here are quick to say JB hasn’t played anyone. But I bet they’ll praise Baker’s “stats” going against the hapless Jets last night never minding the fact that he actually looked terrible again for the most part.  Time to stop giving guys credit like they’ve made it because they have potential & credit guys that are actually winning games this season.

dang so basically about the same like I said... both were bad bottom half of the league teams

yes, but let's remember one thing -- Brissett had that Colts team fighting.  Even with everything against him Brissett managed to make the Colts a tough kill more often than not, going into the 4th quarter with 5 leads that other facets of the team blew.

If the Jets ever showed that kind of fighting spirit last year I sure as heck didn't see it.

Enough.  I've come to the table with facts.  You've come to the table with opinions and hot air.  Brissett is not comprable to Sam Darnold, none of the facts support that ridiculous assertion so it can be dismissed prima facie.  I stand by my statement that Darnold looks like he's riding on a one way road on the Geno Smith Express.  Nothing I've seen suggests he's capable of handling an NFL starting role.

The AK47 comment has been debunked as the bouncer reportedly made it up

But.....  you are correct for concern on the other points that you mentioned as well as the the additional bonehead things that he did that you didnt mention

The kid at least HAS been an arrogant jerk.

Denver doesnt have their QB situation figured out..... they let him walk

There was more to the "asleeep on someone elses couch" story

If a guy was THE MAN.... you take the lumps and let him stay on the team

I'm torn on Chad Kelly

The guy clearly is talented. The guy SEEMS to have everything needed to be a top QB.

The guy would APPEAR to have better QB attributes than JB

What some old dude in Texas (ME) clacking away at his keyboard CANT see, is what the guy is like on a day to day basis

Is he a jerk today?

A jerk can ruin a locker room, especially at the QB position. The "face" of the organization.

The Colts are bringing in very high quality character people. They clearly passed on athletic and talented and added character as PART of the deciding process.

This is their creed and motto. This is the culture that they are building.

People that think team first, vs "ME first"

Bringing in Brian Hoyer is an enormous statement in regards to the future of Chad Kelly with the Colts. That tells me that the staff is still not sold that Chad Kelly is someone that they even trust the backup role to.

I think that they may let him walk or try to put him on PS (which he will be gone just as much)

IF the Colts decide that he is worth the risk, they will put him on the 53.

The Colts staff spend many hours with the guy. They know what he is, an what he isnt.

If they think that he isnt the guy, I might still try to get some value from him.

I would put him on the 53 and shop to see what he is worth

A conditional pick (tied to his performance to his new team) would seem to be fair, and bring something back.

Straight up, he MAY be worth a 6th to a team like the Steelers or Saints

But a conditional better pick, based on his performance on the new team, may be what would be asked (4th or 5th)

I hope they keep him, but think he is gone

FR jumped up and said "AV is our kicker"

The no commit comment on Chad Kelly is ALSO a statement

We will see in the next few days

Well said!

definitely enough if you are too high and mighty to see that JB and Darnold both haven't accomplished a damn thing then you are a lost cause. both are literally on even ground currently.

They really aren't.  Brissett is objectively, statistically better than Darnold in nearly every respect, and that's not even considering the perceived differece in intangibles, where Brissett scores highly and Darnold is a bit of an unknown quantity.

dear god

The numbers don't lie man.  At a certain point potential goes out the window and the numbers show what you really are.

Darnold still has time to turn his career around once he gets healthy.  At least as long as Geno Smith got.  But JB7 was always considered a high-floor player and unless Darnold makes some progress towards reaching his ceiling, a high floor QB like Brissett is going to compare favorably to more high-ceiling QBs who haven't come close to reaching their potential yet.

And it bears repeating -- the timing of this recent illness is very bad news for Darnold and could set back his development by as much as a year.  Precious time in a sports market that demands quick results.

If Brissett had a similar injury or illness his chances of success would drop even further than Darnold's, it might even end his career as a starter.  I don't think Darnold's in that much trouble -- yet.  But his health is doing him no favors.

You’re acting like JB has ever actually earned a starting spot. Darnold at least earned his spot. The only thing JB has ever accomplished in the NFL is being a second string QB who has twice been in the right place at the right time.

Darnold wasn’t beating out Brady or Luck.  So he “earned” his spot over McCown...  Big deal.

Since when did this come about?

the exempt list for when the commissioner isnt sure what to do with them, or the league is still investigating.  i thought kelly actually got off light with just a 2 game suspension, but they still are not completely ready to trust him

No it’s not the exempt list. They got a roster exemption. I think it’s two different things. It has nothing to do with trusting him. It’s the colts trying to figure out what to do with him. With injuries they have to figure out if there is room to keep him. He is at practice today.

if hes at practice then its not the commissioners exempt list, but hes still  allowed at the facility and to do anything but practice or attend games if it is

a roster exemption would be better anyway, im still surprised he only got two games for what he did, plus hes been in trouble before though not in the nfl

The commish has allowed Kelly to stay on the exempt list pending further investigations. He gets a check but does not count toward the 53. He cannot play in games but can work out and attend meetings with the club.

Countdown to the Patriots exploiting the crap out of this new loophole has been started.

Are you for real?  darnold didn't "earn" anything.  If anything, McCown lost the starting job and the Jets had to turn to darnold before he was ready.

Sure,  as the 3rd string qb.  But I'm guessing he won't be here mid week
