Chad Kelly decision today?

If Hoyer is on the field, it's pretty much already over. I don't think Hoyer can teach Brisset anything we would want him to learn.

Then you don't know much about NFL football.    They brought him in for a reason.   Kelly might be able to teach him how to score molly and cause a riot.   If that were valuable to a starting NFL qb,  I'm sure they would have kept him

I'll trust CB and FR over the Kelly fan club.   They couldn't even get a 7th for him

Your a senior member so I don't have to tell you. Gotta pick your battles here. I'm getting better at that.

You're called nuts here for supporting the starting QB and not supporting the guy who's had drama up the wazoo.

Bizaro land here sometimes.

Archie Manning had a terrible W/L % too

You can’t win games with inferior pieces around you

A lot of people at NFL Network now support ( Of course they do this now !)  Eli Manning getting into the Hall of Fame and he has a lifetime .500 record .

Not sure what you mean about senior member.   But you're right,  some of these posts are ponderous

Jacoby is the starter.   Andrew caused that.   Kelly was never going to be the starter.   Hoyer has more value than Chad Kelly.

point is, we need both a mentor and quality back up. hoyer fits one of those requirements.

or they don't want to carry 3 QBs. or they value a mentor over talent. or.....

His one play of kneeling down.   I'm sure the coaching staff watched extensive video of that before deciding he wasn't worth the roster spot

Why do people act like Kelly is some stud at backup QB? The guy hasn’t taken one snap during the regular season.

Must not have watched any preseason games. Dude can run an offense. I don’t care if it was against 3rd or 4th stringers, it ran a hell of a lot more fluidly than Brissett would have done against those same defenses.

Meanwhile we sit here in the abyss of mediocre QB hell. Brissett will never suck enough to lose his job but will never be good enough to win a playoff game.

Kelly will get his chance eventually and he’s going to ball out because that’s what he does everywhere he’s ever been on the field. When that happens we’ll probably still be sitting here trying to convince ourselves that we’re fine with JB throwing 175 yards a game.

The colts got no offers for Kelly.   Same scenario.   Except Hoyer has starting experience and doesn't try to start fights at high school games,  doesn't get drunk and get kicked out of a teammate's party only to wonder into a stranger's house.

Wait. You mean Hoyer is a.... professional?

You know who else balled out.   Johnny Football.    Kelly is an entitled punk and has been since high school.   There is zero info that he is willing to do the work do be an NFL qb.   If you want to look foolish and call Chris Ballard's skills in evaluating talent,   be my guest.   But zero teams were willing to trade for him.   That tells the story

he won the back up job in Denver before being a knucklehead and getting booted. he played as good this year, as JB did last year in the preseason.

if you're happy with Hoyer should JB go down, great.

you're entitled to your opinion about our QB depth, and i'm entitled to mine.

Fair enough.   The professionals agree with me

I'm not sure if CK will ever be good..

What I am sure of, is you can't be critical of the front office or JB via opinion or stats without the sunshine pumpers freaking out.

How many practices did you attend?  How many meetings?  The guys that cut him know the man.    They have far more info than we do.   They cut him.  The end

again, back to the coaches are always right...

i hope it works out. if we get stuck in mediocrity the forum will be a slow burn. if JB goes down, it will be a fast burn.

(This is just me ) But I can not put this team in the category of "playoff team " quite yet .

Playoff possible is what I said.  They can win this division.  They should be 2.0.  They aren’t in the Dolphins, Giants or Broncos category right now.

    • Not necessarily. Houston could get that third pick and draft their own. TUA wouldn’t have to be part of the trade. There is a lot of rumors Miami might draft another QB and get rid of TUA. Or if they get Watson TUA could be on the block. TUA doesn’t seem to have any special qualities. But in saying that I do think his style could fit Reichs system.  He could sit behind rivers for a year. It seems he is having the same issue that manning had as a rookie. Has to learn what is open in the nfl compared to college.
    • Bienemy will be hired by some team...he has interviewed with 6 of them. My guess would be LAC for Herbert.   I think PHI will go with Brady. That's about as fresh of a start as you can get. And you get a QB guru to help develop Hurts.   ATL hires Arthur Smith.   DET will wait until the playoffs are further along.   HOU is such a risky spot right now...no idea what they will do.
    • A lot of those guys are already signed for multiple years. Only Leonard, Smith, and Hines are going into their contract year. Nelson we have the 5th year option
    • sign Bud Dupree to a 3 year deal with a team option for a fourth year give him roughly about Trade this year’s second and next years second to move up to 12 with the niners   *I don’t know what all it will take to move up 9 spots but that seems good* 1. Trey Lance Qb North Dakota state: Mobile good decision making with an accurate deep ball should thrive in Reichs offense. 3. Brady Christensen OT BYU: Great size and movement can play left or right tackle should fit in well with our current group. 4. Trill Williams Corner Syracuse: Solid ball skills and great size can come in and compete with tell and ya sun day one. 5. Jaelon Darden WR North Texas: Great speed solid route runner good replacement for TY. 6. Tony Poljan TE UVA: Great size at 6’7 solid blocker potential to be a good receiver at the tight end position. 7. Jalen McKenzie OG/OT USC: Great size adds depth can play guard or tackle highest ceiling is as a guard.
    • The only thing we know is Lawrence will be drafted by JAC...but it's pretty easy to see what happens ; )   #1 - QB #2 - QB (NYJ trade back to a QB needy team OR take one)   Top 2 QBs are off the board...then it gets crazy.   #3 - QB (if MIA trades back) or Sewell  #4 - QB (draft a QB if Sewell goes #3 OR trade back to QB needy team) #5 - Sewell (if QB goes at #3) or QB (trade back) #6 - WR Smith/Chase #7 - WR Smith/Chase #8 - Pitts or CB   Yes...unless Sewell goes at #3...the first 4 are QBs. And if he does go #3...then the rest of the top 5 are QBs.   The problem is the lack of top 5 non-QB talent...especially with players opting out and the lack of a Combine.    A team could go for Chase or Smith in the top 5...but I think they will both go right after the top 5. Pitts won't get drafted over a QB. Surtain probably isn't a top 5 player. Parson and Rousseau opted out...so I doubt a team takes a risk on either that early (in lieu of a QB or a trade back).   How does this affect the Colts? It means they will have to trade up to #2-3 to get their guy. It would be incredible and scary all at once.
