To me, the original church counsel and others she confided in, their testimony will also be key in establishing this case. She may have gotten advice but went against it, not sure.

If you look at women in domestic violence situations, they stay in due to either insecurity or low self esteem or lack of other options, it is not easy as fleeing the situation for them. If there are kids in the situation, it makes it worse.

I would just wait till the facts come out.

I think this situation is much different than your typical domestic violence repeated situations.

I think she was raped.   I also hope that we use her dumb behavior as an example for women to keep yourself away from these situations.   The things AB did to her before she went back to hang out with him at his house were horrible.  Maybe she liked his money and fame.

I am aware of that. In fact, most women I know have reported experiencing some form of sexual "abuse" (for lack of a better term). Whether it be someone inappropriately touching or fondling them all the way up to rape. Most do not report it.

In the post that you quoted, I did not ask why she had not reported it. I may not have either.  I wrote that if that had occurred to me, there is no way I would allow him into my home or be alone with him for fear that it would happen again. (I'm a woman.)

Yes.  This was my earlier comment as well.    Some took that as us "victim blaming".

It was just our stance on how we would react.

I just read the alleged texts. Brown doesn't admit to any assaults or unwanted sexual activity. But who can decipher much of it? I am more fluent in Spanish than I am in Antonio Brownish.

If anyone should be sent to jail, it's the entire administration of the University of Central Michigan for Brown's "education."

It's the typical #metoo attitude. Women are saintly and every man is a filthy pig. Remember the Duke Lacross Five? Those poor guys. A single PROSTITUTE was believed over the word of five young men.

And the #metoo movement aren't helping themselves with their Twitter tag: PoundMeToo.

The one thing I find odd is, IF she was raped why not go to the police and press charges? Only been a couple years.. why do a civil lawsuit?

i would thinknif your going get the public scrutiny at least make the person pay criminally as well.. am I wrong thinking it’s weird?

I do think you get dragged through much more mud in a court in a criminal case with a greater burden of proof than a civil one. It is not a hotel, no cameras for evidence like the Kareem Hunt case, but yes, you do have to ask, she could have reported it instantly with an allegation. I am not sure how DNA collection and all of that works with an immediate report for rape but there is a level of shame inflicted on the woman and she probably did not get good advice to act on it right away, if it did happen. Maybe she thought she had too much to lose with her gym, boyfriend and reputation if she did, one can only guess (she told her boyfriend much later once she probably felt their relationship was strong enough). But AB does not deny the sexual encounter, just like Kobe Bryant, told it was consensual. We can only speculate the ifs and buts.

I also think someone on radio was talking about a statute of limitations in the state of Florida, which I think is 4 years for personal injury after the incident happened or 2 years for other kinds. While she was not under the gun, she had X number of years to file it and she wanted to get it over with the filing before she got married (article I posted refers to how it damaged her relationship with her fiance), is my guess. The timing of the filing had nothing to do with the Raiders or Patriots, it was purely along the lines of events in her personal life, that is my take on it.

I am not sure what to read into this but it seemed like Drew Rosenhaus could have known that the lawsuit was coming before the Patriots signing, read this article on SI:

https://www.si.com/nfl/2019/09/12/antonio-brown-sexual-assault-accusations-lawsuit-patriots-bill-belichick-drew-rosenhaus

The key lines to me were:

And based off Rosenhaus’s admission Wednesday that “Antonio and I have been unfortunately anticipating this possibility” of a lawsuit and internet rumors of the allegations cropping up in the early Saturday morning hours, it can be safely assumed (but not confirmed) that the allegations contained in Taylor’s complaint Tuesday night were known by Brown and his camp, at least in part, at the time of the signing.

Based on that, heck, it's possible, but not confirmed, that the Raiders could have had the same concerns. Not to mention the Pats.

I said 'COULD'.

Yes he does, it's the first line of the text.

And it lines up with her accusations flawlessly.

Nobody said there arent false accusations. To use the Duke 5 to justify attacking every woman who makes an accusation is ridiculous. How long ago was that now? If it were as prevalent as you suggest you wouldn't have to go back that far to find an example.

There are likely multiple levels and reasons in the answer.  However, it does all boil down to this.  Achieving the burden of proof.

1. Can you build a case the defense cannot poke any holes in and then allows every juror to feel,' yes, without any question he did this stuff'.  A "definitely did vs. definitely didn't"  Or-

2. Can you build a case that the defense may even be able to poke some holes in it, but leaves one feeling, 'yes, I think there's a pretty good chance she's legit and likely did it'. A "probably did vs. probably didn't" reduced burden of proof.

Easier to achieve the latter.  But the punitive consequences are reduced as well.

This is wrong.

I certainly don't have that attitude.

Saints and pigs even distributed across the human race I would say.

MeToo is about bringing visibility to the scope of sexual harassment, abuse, assault.

It's a lot. I don't know how people see the scale of the issue and come away from it hating women........and yet it happens

Anyone else notice how the mens actions that put them in a bad position, like in the Duke 5 case for instance, are NEVER questioned in the same manner a victim is?

The Duke 5 hired strippers from an escort agency, consumed a bunch of alcohol and threw a party......but noone ever says "you deserved to be accused because you're an * and put yourself in a precarious position".

Its pure victim blaming that doesnt stand up to simple logic.

I did read it. I'm saying if it was me, I wouldn't put myself in that position again.

I'm also not saying he's innocent.

But when someone asks for $$$$$, you have to wonder,..No?

I believe this is a civil suit, which is all about $$$$.  Why no arrest, or criminal charges?

Yeah its a civil suit which anyone can do. We'll never know, only the 2 people involved would.

But with AB- well its not like lots of good things are on his side.

Yeah I didn't mean any comments that way. It's great that most women would never let it get to that point in the first place, let alone let it happen again

But it's reasonable to believe many women don't make such good choices. I can see his money and fame completely clouding her judgement. But she didn't deserve to be raped no matter what dumb things she may be guilty of

Hacks in the media actually did do that in the Duke case.

In the texts published, Brown is obviously responding to prior conversations between him and the accuser. It will be interesting to see what had been written before his rant that led to his angry tirade. As a matter of fact, I can only presume that subpoenas for all their prior communications are in the works.

You make no mention of Antonio Brown continuing to associate with a woman HE CLAIMS was trying to get money out of him........I mean it's a two way street right? It's all about her trying to extort money out of poor Antonio Brown......and the only evidence you have are quotes from a known liar and professional * who admitted to sexual assault in a text.

That's all it takes for you to proclaim this woman a gold digger who you do not know what so ever. I on the other hand havent accused Antonio Brown of anything other than what he put in a text. I also didnt say the Duke 5 were *s. I raised a hypothetical question and you misunderstood it because you're too busy working on your poor white man always mistreated angle you got from your hero Donald Trump.

And then you call me a leftist lol

Buddy if you fall into that crap you are more ignorant than I thought. I dont vote. They dont count the votes. And dems and reps are working for the same people, that's why they all hang out in their spare time. They just put on a show and you eat it up.

Eat one.

Antonio Brown says she asked him for $1.6 million and Brown told her no. How does that fall into hypocrisy on my part that Brown would continue a relationship with her afterwards?

She, however, alleges she was sexually assaulted three times and yet she continued going to his home and hotel rooms. She is engaged to be married, yet she is hanging out with a professional athlete at 2am after she says Brown assaulted her? Does that sound like a professional and platonic relationship?

I am having trouble understanding why you say Donald Trump is my hero. I said nothing about Trump. I figured you would know as such considering you keep slamming the "reading comprehension" of anyone that has a differing opinion. Perhaps if you read my posts more closely - using your superior reading comprehension - I have not mentioned my political affiliation.

How do you know she kept hanging out with him? Because he said so?

Btw, That's how good my reading comprehension is......I saw the word leftist and knew immediately. He practically invented that word. Noone was calling anyone a leftist until he came around.

Both of you, Stop the political references, or your posts will be sucked into the forum black hole... never to be seen again.
Thanks.

I've only commented on his disgusting texts, which ai believe were from him.

You ever see those police videos where the officers are hitting a guy with batons? Did you ever think, "I sure wish we could see what all happened beforehand"?

If her attorney released Brown's texts, then it's only fair to see the entire conversation.

Yes I do, but I dont justify the excessive use of batons because of what might have happened beforehand.
