Geez that’s a big contract. I’d like to have just ran with Kelly. Hoyer just gives me mixed feelings

Hoyer's salary is bigger than Brissett's now, lol

We already knew Ballard was working on a raise for JB

I would think a extension for JB is coming soon.

For three years. They will try and put him on the PS.

Bigger question, who gets cut now to make room

Milligan, Franklin, or Adams

It’s a good signing.. a young guy like JB or even CK benefits from having a good vet holding the clipboard and talking through games and film.

He’ll improve the team without stepping on the field.

This is a good move by Ballard as it sets the stage for Brissett if he comes out and has a backup type year.  Here is what he offered Hoyer let's negotiate there if you want to remain here competing but in a backup slot.  Obviously the hope is he balls out and we are negotiating starter contract with Hoyer here to backup.

They have coaches for that though.  I just hope he never takes the field.

Milligan will likely be cut and I look for them to cut Walker from the PS and move Pascal back to there for the time being.

Love your optimism and hope you’re right, but right at this moment, I’m not feeling it:(

its the first Ballard mistake. He does not provide anything of value.

Where/why is this a mistake?

He has NFL experience.   Chad Kelly doesn't.   Hoyer is the number 2

In doesn't just reflect on Kelly.  It reflects on both of them.  Honestly, you have no idea what you have in Brissett or Kelly.  Until you know you have a legit starter/franchise QB, you probably carry 3.

They are heavily vested in Kelly's potential, no way do they cut him or put him on the PS. We have guys that can be maneuvered to make room for 3 QB's.

If it means of carrying a 3rd QB and provide a veteran presence to JB and CK then I'm ok with that.

Yeah... we don't know that. Ballard says he likes Chad but 3 years for Hoyer says otherwise...

Whether we stay with Jacoby or draft a a QB, Hoyer gives us stability at the position.

I'd highly wager it turns out to a 1 year $9M deal. They'll likely give him his guaranteed money right at signing and move on after next season.

Not too fond of this signing.

Same, a bit confused by the length. They are practically signing him to be the long-term backup. I guess they were not as in love with Kelly as most people here. I will wait to see the guarantees on that contract because initial reports are almost always extremely skewed in favor of presenting the contract to be as lucrative as possible(because it's the agents that leak those numbers).
