That’s pretty much what I have as well except I really think however we have to make it work, Hentges makes this team. He has produced every game and was highly praised in practice time. We either don’t keep 6 DB’s, or we go 3 rb’s to start.

My 3 wants to stay somehow are Hentges, Hogan and either Phillips or Travis. I don’t think Stewart is getting cut though.  Pascal is tough to part with as well as J. Williams. Tough cuts tonight.

I’d cut PW before he leaves the cincy stadium tonight and take my gambles on a cut down player who has average success in passing over the middle.

You make a good guess at it...

But I don't see Collins over Milton.

You think Caraun Reid makes the cut?

Collins and Milton was a very hard one for me. It became a depth need vs STs to me.

I kept Reid on the 53 because we kept 3 UTs for most of the year in 2018 IIRC. That could change if we have DEs sliding inside more.

Hentges sticks,

Hogan sticks at WR (we keep 6 he beats out Pascal),

Collins gets cut for Milton,

Stewart over Reid on D line.

Kelly has to make initial 53 then put on suspended list or we risk losing him. Then once on s.l. we will be free to sign a free agent qb vet to fill in backup for 2 weeks.

Clark gets cut and we sign a Tackle from another team's cuts.

Neither PW or a cutdown is going to win a game should JB go down in the first two games. So easier to just keep the guy who knows the O for 15 days....

I don’t think they will keep a kicker on PS.

I think they keep Milton over Collins for special teams.  It wouldn’t shock me if they keep Milton over Tell for that reason either.

I think Stewart makes it over Reid.

id like to see them keep Phillips over Muhammad but I’d have a hard time seeing it happen based on how they were used in pre-season.

Based on this roster they have to keep Walker as Kelly will be suspended (he also won’t count against the roster for two weeks which will open a spot for someone) but ultimately I think they bring in a different QB and cut Walker.

i think Thomas makes it at linebacker.

Ai agree PS spots are too valuable to keep a specialist

JB wasn't a trim. We traded a 2nd rounder for him.

And it wasn't an ideal situation either. In his first game we got throttled, in his second, we lost at home to a terrible AZ team. We almost lost the 3rd game at home to a terrible Browns team.

Late Preseason trades are forms of cuts

I think we'll have to keep a kicker unless AV is 100%. If the coaches think is 100% now, I agree we won't keep one.

Milton over Collins wouldn't surprise me. It was one of my last flips. I can also see Grover over Reid, but past roster have only kept 2 NTs and 3 UTs.

I don't think we keep over 6 LBs. We barely use a SAM, so it's a bit of a waste IMO. Good for STs, but I think we have other pressing needs over a 7th LB.

Actually, I think it was a first round choice? Phillip Dorsett

NE was not going to cut JB. We were in desperate need. And we didn't want to get rid of or cut Dorsett. He was trending up for us and was our #2 the year before...... either player was far from a form of cut....

They traded Dorsett for him, most useful thing the Colts ever got out of a Grigson first rounder not named Luck or Kelly.

They had Jimmy G as their #2

He had played the year before because of Injuries to JG

The Pats have often kept 3 QBs on the roster. At the time, they were in need of a WR/Returner because of injuries to Edleman. We had an injury to Luck. It was a trade based on mutual need, not a form of a cut. And it was after cut down day in Sept.

You are both right to an extent.

There was some speculation that the Pats were going to cut Brissett because they didn’t have room on their roster for three QBs due to the injuries they had going into the season.

With that said you are right a trade and a cut are two different things.

I think we're keeping Pascal (and 6 WR's). Him not playing tonight was evident of that IMO. I'm reminded of one of those "Behind the Scenes" training camp videos when our WR coach specifically talked about Hilton, Funchess, Campbell, Cain, Rogers, and Pascal. Ever since then I've figured those were our guys, especially after Fountain went down.

I never said they were just that several teams use trades as a way to cut a player and give him a shot to stick somewhere else and/or get something in return

The Colts recently did it with Henry Anderson and Thomas Hennessy

It is possible both get cut and they keep Collins.

No offense intended

There are so many factors that will decide the final 54

Yes there and clearly none of us know for a fact what’s going to happen all we can do is offer up on opinions on what we think should happen or will happen.

I thought we'd keep a 6th for a while, but that ended with Fountain going down. Not sure that Pascal's absence really means anything. We know full well what we have in him. Aside from Campbell getting some time finally, I think the rest of the WRs were out there to audition for the PS. And Pascal isn't eligible. While I'd prefer personally to keep 6, I think there are more compelling needs other places and more compelling players.

If they do it’s because of special teams and by the time you are talking about the fifth and sixth corner special teams matters a lot.

They won’t cut Tell because of his upside. They will have to roll with the mistakes of rookies a bit but I just don’t see Tell getting cut, he has flashed enough in games to deserve the draft pick and development time you expect from a later draft choice. He is making the 53 and it would be quite the shock if somehow he doesn’t.

    • Can you expend on this, why do you think that?
    • No, but I would love that! Is that true? Where did you hear that? I don't think that will happen. I heard that trading Herbert would result in a huge dead cap hit for the Chargers, that would make it nearly impossible to keep or sign other players.

    • Final edition, call it a less penalty driven team draft.   The Colts trade up on Day 1.   Round 1 a)       WR Rome Odunze (Washington) – led all receivers in CFB in pass interference call draws with 9 in 2023. b)      LCB Quinyon Mitchell (Toledo) – Only had 3 penalties in the last two seasons. c)       WLB Edgerrin Cooper (Texas A&M)   Round 2  a)      OL Cooper Beebe (Kansas State) – Jack of all trades OL No matter where Cooper Beebe lines up, he produces elite play. At right tackle in 2020, he was a PFF honorable mention All-Big 12 honoree. As a left tackle in 2021, he was named first-team All-Big 12. In 2022 at left guard, Beebe was a second-team All-American.  Beebe's 94.0 pass-blocking grade over the past two seasons led all offensive linemen in college football. During that span, he didn’t allow a sack on 770 pass-blocking snaps.  Beebe is the only FBS guard who ranks in the top five in both PB (4th) and RB (2nd).  He still hasn’t allowed a sack since the 2020 season. 2023 earned college football midseason all-America First Team.   Very few penalties throughout his career. b)      FS/NCB Javon Bullard (Georgia) – only had 5 penalties in college. c)       SS Jaden Hicks (Washington State) – 2023 PFF TOW 2 honors. Leader on defense that off to a strong start for 2023 earning a 90.1 PFF grade in coverage with one interception after 3 weeks, dropped another but forced 4 incompletions.  Great field and anticipation skills along with ball production.  Versatile can align up in FS, SS, LB, or nickel.  Only had 3 penalties in 2023.   Round 3 a)       CB Khyree Jackson (Oregon) – 2023 PFF TOW 4 honors.  Jackson had a decent Senior Bowl Week and is best in Zone Coverage. Jackson’s got excellent height we covet at 6’3” with great weight at 203 pounds, with ideal arms 32” and the span of 78” and good 4.44s-Forty.  Only committed 4 penalties in 2023. b)       DB Dadrion Taylor-Demerson (Texas Tech) - only 7 career penalties with 200 tackles, 57 stops, 11 pressues, 3 sacks, 16 passes defended, and 10 interceptions. c)       LCB Kris Abrams-Draine (Missouri) - 2023 PFF TOW 4 honors.  After 6 games leads all FBS players with 8 PBUs (1.8 PDPG) while adding 3 INTs.   10 combined interceptions and (7) forced incompletions are the most among Power Five CBs while only allowing 11 catches all season. 2023 college football midseason all-America First Team.  His 86.8 coverage grade is 5th highest in the FBS allowing just 107 passing yards and 11 receptions on the season. d)      SWR Malik Washington (Virginia) – Josh Downs 2.0 and only committed 4 total penalties in five years (52 career games).   Round 4 a)      RG Zak Zinter (Michigan) 2022 PFF Week 5, 11, 12 TOW Honors. 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Second Team. Wasn’t called for a single penalty on 649 snaps. b)      FS Cole Bishop (Utah) junior if he declares – After 5 weeks in 2023, targeted 13 times, 4 catches allowed, 2 INTs, and 4.8 passer rating allowed.  Had a decent Senior Bowl week. Ejected for a targeting penalty.  In 3 years only allowed 7 penalties. c)       RB Isaac Guerendo (Louisville) – 9.97 RAS   Round 5 a)       WLB Michael Barrett (Michigan) PFF TOW 7 honors, round 5 projection had an outstanding year with an overall 90.6 defense grade only behind Edgerrin Cooper.  An 82.5 run defense grade, a 93.5 pass rush grade, and a 77.0 coverage grade.  Didn’t commit a defensive penalty in more than 1800 defensive snaps. b)      SS Malik Mustapha (Wake Forest) – Zero career penalties c)       SS Kitan Oladapo (Oregon St) – only 4 accepted penalties in final 30 games.   Round 6 a)       Edge Jalyx Hunt (Houston Christian) b)      WR Ryan Flournoy (SE Missouri St) c)       Edge Javontae Jean-Baptiste (ND)   Round 7 a)      LG/C Michael Jurgens (Wake Forest) – Only one of two guards in the Power Five with an 80.0 PB and RB grades.   After 10 weeks has an 86.5 PFF grade with his 90.0 run-blocking grade is nearly 5 points higher than the next-best guard.  2023 earned college football midseason all-America Second Team.  Only committed 3 penalties all season in 2023. b)      OC Matt Lee Miami (FL) 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Honorable Mention. PFF TOW 9 honors.  In 2022 he had an 82.5 overall grade with a 90.6 PB and 80.6 RB grade.  As of Oct 15th, Lee is the highest graded center in all FBS earning an 82.7 PFF grade.  Only allowed 2 penalties in 2022 on 1059 offensive snaps given up only four pressures and no sacks. c)       MLB Dallas Gant (Toledo) - 2023 college football midseason all-America Honorable Mention
