With Luck out of the Picture...

Recommended Posts

Should we start looking to move some of our older players who no longer fit in the teams timeline? I feel that it’ll be another couple years at least before we are seriously playoff contenders again, unless Brissett totally blows the doors off and kills it. I think AC, as much as we all love him, might garner a 1st round pick from a team like the Texans or the Seahawks, or another team that needs better O-Lineman. Sheard might also garner us a decent pick. The only older player I’d say we should hold on to for sure is Hilton, because he’ll be the mentor to his successor Paris Campbell. Would you guys be down to make some moves now, potentially stockpiling picks for the next year or two and grabbing our next franchise QB in potentially 2021 with Trevor Lawrence. I’m that regard, it would be building the team before getting the QB, which has worked out well for many many teams

Not yet. We wait and see how Jacoby does first. No need to blow up a solid roster because of one pansy

With Ballard's current drafting success, I don't see us in a position to get Lawrence in 2 years. Plus that's a long way out. I don't think anyone was ready to be back looking for a QB for another 5 years at least... but it does bring its own excitement to the offseason.

Sure, I see where you are coming from, but even last year, Luck was a big part of the reason we went to the playoffs and won a game. He's super talented, and without him I think this team with Brissett will push for 7 or 8 wins at best per season. Trading away these players and losing Brissett next year, we would have tons of draft capital and could fill our holes before 2021, where I think we can tank for the first pick and get a super talented QB with a stacked young roster to take us to the promised land.

I was listening to some Houston reporter on the radio and he said the Texans are trying to trade Clowney for a starting left tackle...  so yeah... AC for Clowney might make some sense if we are going full on youth movement, but I kind of doubt it.

In the process, we would be creating even MORE holes.

then we have to pay JC, while looking for a QB and LT.  the trade would help them more than us

Yeah, you might be right, but we will have to pay AC after this season too...

I'm sitting here remembering the Rex Ryan Jets with good defense and Sanchez at quarterback. My point we are better than that team and they made two deep playoff appearances as well as a afc championship

    • for the love of....   Most people aren’t saying don’t give him time, it’s been clearly stated by many on here they are happy to wait and see.    But that doesn’t mean ignoring some aspects of his play so far. Your misrepresentation continues.
    • So when @ColtsBlueFL posts his analysis where’s the “your no expert” rant. Is it because it suits your own opinion?    @stitches at least attempted to show why he has that opinion. More than most do on here.
    • Well he works for the colts so we will see.
    • I was listening to a stampede blue podcast today. The guy went on like a 2 min long rant about fans need to give him time. He mentioned everything that has been said by some of us about how he lost his number 2 WR and has two young guys who he barely had snaps with. Campbell had one day of TC. Cain and Campbell took all preseason game. snaps from walker and Kelly. It’s going to take a little time.  I am actually terry impressed with what he has done with basically just TY. Had 1 1/2 games without TY. You wouldn’t put this kind of pressure on a guy we drafted after 20 games. That’s JB starting experience. Give him time. I don’t think it will take long.
    • You guys gotta give Brissett time to develop. His ceiling doesn't need to be incredibly high, but just high enough. He needs to make some longer throws, and I know this not happening has fans on edge, but I was talking to a Bill's fan who has watched Brissett and he told me that he has improved tremendously in accuracy.    He deserves the year and if he finishes how he started I would be fine with him finishing out his contract. Hes got the character. Hes got the work ethic. Give him some time. Brady wasnt Brady in his first starting season.    Like I said. Brissett needs to be just a tiny bit better than he is for this team to not need to worry about the QB position, imo.    This next draft needs to be oline and dline heavy.. Invest more in the lines and take both sides to the next level.
