Colts Vs. Bears Preseason Game Night Thread

Clark started at left tackle a few weeks last season and was bad then too. Cost us the game against Phili. We can't take the chance that he gets in during the regular season. He's gotta go.

Chris Ballard needs to have his eyes on potential backup linemen that gets cut from other teams because we have very little depth. I'm only comfortable keeping Haeg and Andrews outside of the first 5.

Beohm did a good job for Kelly last year.

What happened to our pressure?

Banogu, Turay, and Ward are not out there.

Good point.  Well put him on the practice squad.  But play him all 4 quarters next week to avoid injury to the other QBs.

I vote for adding a QB of the waiver wire

Can Andrews play another position?  I like Boehm to back up at G & C.

I think people are being a little too hard on Walker. Kelly is obviously the better quarterback,  but Walker is out here throwing passes to Veasy and Marcus Johnson. He doesn't have Cain or Krishawn out there.

Not to mention he has two horrible tackles in the game giving him no time to do anything.

It’s clear his heat isn’t in it anymore. Good thing we have JB. What a horrible thing to do to the team though.

Wow...hope this isn't true.  But if it is...always felt like he didn't really love the game and had other interests.  Would be a shame for our franchise.

Marital stress.  Having kids weighs you down, lol.

I liked Boehm last year when he was backing up Kelly but he's been bad himself this Summer. That's why Andrews has been starting over him.

Andrew Luck retiring.

Playing the role of Drew Bledsoe is Andrew Luck and playing the role of the young Tom Brady is Chad Kelly! I would hate to see that happen, but stranger things have happened!

Luck is officially the Indy version of Bert Jones if this happens.  Manning was the Indy Unitas.

Wow, didn't know he took a step back.  Thanks for that.

I’ve thought that recently.

This is horrible to say, but I had a bad feeling when he got married and his wife got pregnant. I could tell he wanted to focus on his family... which is totally his perogative, but I knew we had lost him then.

After battling injury after injury, the word is that #Colts QB Andrew Luck was simply too worn down to continue. And so he abruptly retires at age 29. Jacoby Brissett is the new QB of the Colts.

Phillips was quiet last game wasn't he?  Making a better showing here late.

We gave the greatest QB prospect since Manning & Elway Grigson & Pagano to work with...  If he is done that will be the legacy left...

Kind of hard to argue with that, honestly.

Time to start looking at next years QB's in the draft and see who we could use all of our draft capital to move up and draft.....

Unfortunately I think the year after is the real QB year.  I think Lawrence & Fields both have star potential.

Man, gotta give credit to the Bear's receiver for that TD...the defensive guy made a great play, but the receiver still came up with the ball :(

We still have JB for one more year.  Now we have to think about extending him.  Geez...this is bad on so many levels.

    • Parcells did not know him at first. He followed his career since he was young and began going to his games and then they became friends. I read s New York Times article about he and Parcells. They mentioned that parcells doesn’t normally emote such praise over a football player and yet he compared him to Curtis Martin and a few of his favorites. Now that’s not normal stuff like you are saying. FR and CB were doing the same thing while Luck was still with us and I noticed that it was odd that they did it for a backup QB. When asked about Luck they would mention his talent, but CB often went the “we aren’t about 1 person “ route. We are building a team.  I think it’s a noticeable difference and I thought that all along. J read every article Colts. Com puts out. So I do not think it’s just a song and dance act in his case. They may still draft a QB which would be smart anyway, but I don’t think they necessarily grade him exactly the way most fans are right now. They treat Vinny the same way. By the way. They put the onus on the entire team when JB or Vinny is criticized. IDK. They may not replace JB so quickly as many think.
    • Ballard can't control injuries, players turning the ball over, Luck retiring, etc. I thought both Ballard and Reich handled the season well and despite all the obstacles, they were able to keep this team competitive in every game they played.   The future is still bright in Indy. A ton of young guys got a lot of experience in 2019 and the Colts are in salary cap heaven and have three picks in the first two rounds of the 2020 Draft.
    • Yes, we released the TE we brought up from the PS a couple weeks ago. Guy never saw a snap
    • A ton of rookies are getting a ton of playing time in 2019 and most of them have impressed the heck out of me. Ya-Sin, Khari, Okereke, Banogu, have all shown me something. Parris Campbell had a rough season with all the injuries, but I'm confident whenever he manages to stay on the field, he will make plays and prove to be another solid pick by CB.
    • Since Vinny's knee is basically shot for the 2019 season this is a great chance for Chris Ballard to get a good look at McLaughling as possibly the Colts starting kicker beyond 2019. Either way, the Colts will move on from Vinatieri no matter what he decides to go beyond 2019. Place him on IR and see what you have from McLaughing. Worst case scenario you sign or draft another Kicker to be your guy.
