40 time was 5.04. that's pretty slow in terms of 40.

doesn't mean he can't run a crisp route and use his body to get open.

"fast" is not a word to describe hale though. he catches and blocks well.

besides his vert 33.5, the rest of his measurables at the pro day were pretty bad.

Measurables have their place but there's no great measurable for just being a heckuva football player.  Henteges is showing us that on field.  I like him and he very well make Doyle replaceable next year...and I really like Jack but this is a very positive cap development.

I agree on being a heck of a football player. It's been exciting to see him play well, but I'd really like to see him play with the ones, vs the ones. It still really strange to me that he didn't get much PT at Bama. If there's any coach in CFB that's a good judge of talent, it's Saban.

Hentges is Doyle’s replacement. Has everything Jack has plus youth and a non-injured/repaired hip. I would keep the 4 TE’s and shop Travis or see if I could shop Doyle/MAC.

I think we should slow down a bit on Hentges being Jack's replacement. He hasn't played in a regular season NFL game yet and people forget that the tools Jack brings aren't easily replicated.

I could easily see us keeping Ebron, JD, MAC, & Hentges. JD & Ebron are UFA's after this year. If they both stay healthy this year and produce, I feel we will pay both of them. Having quality depth is never a bad thing, especially when it's cheap and on rookie deals.

Then in 2022 maybe we decide to let Ebron or JD go test the market.

It took Jack 3-4 years to get to HIS high level as a very solid all-around player.
If Hentges is a truly solid blocker, his path to getting to Jack's level could take less time.
This is a Business we know.

HH was a 4 year kind of guy at Alabama.  A team captain.  SEC battle tested. He is likely more mature than most rookies.

You're right, I was a little over my ski's, I was projecting a bit too much...

    • Not...  But I am willing to look at my OWN interactions and see if I can be better as a person. I hope others on this forum can do the same.It is NOT an easy task to feel what another individual is feeling but it CAN be done.  Thanks for saying.   I bring up the injustice that the Irish immigrants suffered when originally coming to america. I could have talked about the internment of the Asians in this country, the Italian discrimination or Hispanic downgrading . Just wanted to not bring up every ingredient of our Melting Pot.  The Irish were looked at being lesser people due to their lineage.  So did the others individuals that I mentioned.  This is why I bring this up. We should all see that downgrading individuals due to their ethnicity is wrong. You understand this. Just trying to get people to see that injustice can effect ALL people. This country can be better. Let's just give EVERYONE a fair shake.  Just saying.
    • And when you get that solved on all sides, well, it’s just not realistic to think you can fix that across the board. Bad people are just bad people. Much like the gun debate, guns kill not people or vise versa, people are racist because they are simply terrible people inside, you can’t fix bad people imho.
    • Yep, wasn’t there a movie where Brendan Fraser starred in about anti-Semitism? I am certain Anti-Semitic opinions still exist today.   We’re all flawed and have to learn to overcome several biases in life as we grow older. 25 years ago, when I moved to this country, I had the same view of Blacks as some people here, as a person of color without knowing any better.   I now know the truth is in the middle but am exhausted trying to convince people to meet in the middle, to be honest, it’s always a yeah but.., conversation with people stuck on the extremes with the narratives they grew up with or are unaware of the holes in them. When I became a US citizen, I remember my co-worker telling me you get the good with the bad history of the US as a new citizen and am realizing he is right.
    • Oh yeah, Charles Barkley has talked about it, it’s a real thing too. It boils down to respect and trust being established with time, without divisive steps taken, one of which is this “alternative anthem”. If I’m calling out divisive words from the POTUS, it’s only fair I call this idea divisive as well, I’ll leave it at that.
    • Why do you have to single out the Irish? I’m in Boston and it’s pretty well documented the struggles they’ve had here in getting denied work based on their ethnicity.     I know you will say I missed your point but  sometimes we are being racist and don’t even realize it.   Just saying.
