I'd like to see the #s but with Stafford/CJ/Suh being 1st/2nd/1st before the new rookie cap I'm willing to bet that was at least 50% of there cap space.

I have mixed feelings on this deal. On one hand, Calvin is easily the best reciever in the league. But to pay that much money for a reciever... they're digging themselves into cap heck as all their first round picks will want new, bigger deals

Wayne lost a HUGE chunk of his market value by virtue of being 33 years old. If he were 28 he'd probably command more than Vincent Jackson but wouldn't get the kind of megadeal the likes of Megatron and Larry Fitzgerald have received.

I know CJ is crazy good, may be the 2nd best WR of all time when its all done, but sweet Jesus he got a bigger contract than Eli, Roethlisberger and other Super Bowl winning QBs. Reggie Wayne seems like a bargain to me lol

And in defense of Reggie he was the #2 receiver to Marvin Harrison for a large chunk of his career, while CJ was always #1. Who knows what Reggie's numbers would have looked like if it wasn't for Marvin. He'd be a sure fire hall of famer for sure.

All I can say is that I hope my team never spends that much on one player - it makes it impossible to support him and last I knew, football is a team sport. Look at Fitzgerald without a franchise QB to throw to him. Got to have all the pieces to win.

I still think that's way to much for a receiver, the only person that should demand that much in my view would be a QB. Aren't they going to be in a bad cap situation for awhile because of that? I guess the good thing about Detroit though is they basically have all the pieces in place and can continue to build in the draft for whatever positions they might need.

I dont think anyone could argue that Johnson isnt awesome. But is one truly elite guy better than signing two really good guys like Vincent Jackson and Pierre Garcon? Because you could have both of those guys for the same price.

All these comparisons, how about mentioning that it's more per year than Peyton's last deal - which was intended to tie Brady's last deal.

How is ANY wr worth more per year than the top QBs in the league. There is simply no way to justify this. Even if you ignore on field value and just focus on the value he returns to the team - never in my life have I gone out of my way to watch a game just because of a WR. On the other hand the Manning/Brady matchups drew tv crowds as significant as playoff games every year. I've only watched this guy a couple of times by accident and didn't even notice him standing out like - for instance - Fitzgerald does (or several other top receivers). It's just an insane deal which you have to think they will regret down the road.

No no no not his official stats. I was taking Calvin's career #s and simply doubling them. No increase in production, no growing as a player, just doubling his previous 5 yr stats, one season as a rookie, one season injured, and one season with Stafford as his full time QB, as well as his other two, and comparing them to Reggie's career #s. just an attempt to show others what kind of path xnd pace Calvin is on. Which is just simply unreal.
