The jags will be our biggest division obstacle.

Recommended Posts

I think the jags will be our toughest division  obstacle.  Their defense seems to have our number and foles is a solid qb. Josh Allen looks like a monster pass rusher for them.

And what weapons do they have for foles? Dede Westbrook? TEs? Their offense will still struggle

they gave us the most trouble last year too.  swept the titans, 2-1 against Texans, 1-1 against the jags and both close games

I agree. Foles only  has to give them a few plays a game with that defense.

That won't  matter if their defense  stops our offense  or slows it down

And their offense will beat us how exactly? Dont even bring up 6-0. Reich had three FGs he could have kicked and didnt.

Run it down our throats if fourbette is healthy.

Fournette had 24 carries for 53 yards. Really scared

With our added weapons this year I so think it will be harder for the jags to keep us out of the end zone.

The jags still don't have no wide receivers or tight ends I would say houston is a bigger threat if their defense gets right plus their o-line is very weak

While I'm not afraid of the Jags O, Foles will definitely make the WRs and TEs look better. If Lee comes back 100%, I'd be more concerned than now. I'm surprised to be honest they didn't look for more help in FA.

They’ve shut out our offence in 12 out of 16 quarters the last 4 games we’ve played em. That defence is still insanely talented, and Nick Foles isn’t Blake Bortles.

I think the colts are better. But the jaguars are really talented and we haven’t exactly owned them the way we used to recently.

We will win the division again after not winning it since 2014. I have to say I was shocked that the Jags shut us out last year 6-0. That was pretty cute lmao

Aren’t you guys forgetting that Reich knows Foles better than anyone? Heck you might say he Helped make Foles what he is today. I’m pretty sure he will game plan him accordingly.

To touch on this point a bit... we don't actually know what kind of qb Foles is in a Jags uni yet. He could be another case of a system backup that gets promoted fulltime on a big contract but never fully develops. In which case the Jags are maybe a touch better off, but not much. Foles played well under two brilliant men in Pederson and Reich last season. He also had a damn good roster.

To be the best, you have to beat the best, so regardless of who we play, to get to our objective we have to win, one game at a time.

Not to mention the eagles had a ton of talent around foles. It’s almost what ballard has said he wants to do here. He wants to have a team good  enough where if the QB goes down we can still win.

I think they'll be tough too. I know they have no weapons (or at least mostly unproven ones on paper) but they are almost guaranteed to have improved QB play from Foles. If the Jags just have an average or slightly above average offense, they'll be tough to deal with because we know they will probably have a very good defense.

I mean it can't be understated how awful Bortles was. Even a stacked offense would look bad with him being the QB. All Foles has to do pretty much is not suck and they could win 9-10 games.

Really interested in how Foles does. He seems so up and down. Definitely has the ability.

And yeah, honestly they gave us the biggest fight last year, that 6-0 loss still bothers me!

They definitely upgraded their QB situation, in Foles,  If they have a  decent offensive line this year, they will be the team for us to beat in our division.

I'm not so sure the Jags will be our toughest foe.  They have a very good defense, but other than adding Foles it doesn't seem like they did much to provide him with the skill set necessary for him (I could be wrong, but I don't view Foles as a QB who can carry a team without talent around him -- someone like Luck, Brady, Rogers, etc. could... I don't see Foles as that guy).  However, as @RockThatBlue pointed out, he's still a major upgrade to Bortles and with their D, he can essentially be a game manager and just have to avoid poor decision making for them to win a few more games than they did last year.

That said, the Texans are coming off an 11-5 season (compared to Jax' 5-11 season), and I think after Luck, DeShaun is the best QB in the division, plus he's got weapons around him and their defense is very good.  I think HOU is still the biggest challenge in this division for us.

That defense is still really good. Files is definitely an upgrade and will win them a few games. I wouldn't count out the other teams in our division though. They're still very good.

Every year, someone is on the Jags bandwagon. We'll just have to let this one play out. :bored:

That's  the problem. The jags may have had a worse  record than the texans, but they play us tougher than houston.

People can say Bortles is average but he always seem to play well against the Colts.

Jacksonville maybe the Colts toughest competition in the division. But the truth be known the Colts passed this team up last year even though they split with them. And I will explain. Normally when the Colts play the Jaguars. Indy has a bad game. And the Jaguars would put up 30, to 40, to 50 points on the Colts. With some ridiculous rushing totals. But last year the Colts had their traditional bad day against Jaguars. But the final score was the ugly 6 to 0 final. I think the only reason why the Colts loss  was they was going for 7 instead of getting the 3 they could have easily had. This is why I think this team will be at the top of the division this year because of that Jacksonville game last year. I think this year will be special

Houston is the more complete team if you ask me.  I would say that they are more likely to win the division than the Jags.

He wasn't that awful, he just couldn't consistently make plays. He has a handful of really good games on his resume, including last year against the Pats.

If Foles is even moderately better than Bortles -- and I'm pretty sure he is and will be -- their entire team gets better. They already have the best defense in the division. If they now have a QB they trust who can make a few plays every week, they'll be serious competition for the division title. I think they're ahead of the Titans and Texans.

They always seem to get themselves pumped up for Colts games, & manage to steal one almost every year from us, kind of similar to the way that the Dolphins manage to win 1 vs the Patriots every season. But regardless of that, that team has 7-9 written all over it, & that won't be enough to challenge for the division title.

Right. And an offense that is built up front, prioritizes the run game and with weapons everywhere. I think we now have that. The Eagles were primed to have a backup step up and succeed. And Reich was instrumental on finding Foles strengths (rolling out of the pocket and finding guys 15 yards down field) and adjusting the gameplan to fit his strengths. That's great winning football. And I think we are going to see this Colts offense take off this year because of it. We saw hints of it last year. With a healthy Doyle and Mack and adding Campbell Cain and Funchess to the receiving core, they could explode.
