Darius Leonard one of nine "most indispensable" defensive players in NFL

Recommended Posts

Again, from Adam Schein "The Schein Nine" articles on NFL.com

nfls-most-indispensable-defensive-players-for-the-2019-season

8) Darius Leonard, LB, Indianapolis Colts

Quote

Talk about a stat-stuffer ... Last year, Leonard piled up 163 tackles, seven sacks, four forced fumbles and two picks -- as a rookie. Good grief. He's the ultimate playmaker and young leader for a Colts defense that flipped the script last season. Indy ranked 30th in points and yards allowed in 2017. Then last year, with the rookie linebacker as the defensive centerpiece, the Colts vaulted to 10th in points and 11th in yards.

Leonard loves playing for Matt Eberflus and Frank Reich. And he's the kind of high-character, highly productive star who changes the culture of a team.

The Colts join three other teams in having a pair of "most indispensable" players on the same team - one on offense and one on defense:

Rams - Gurley and Donald

Texans - Hopkins and Watt

Panthers - McCaffrey and Kuechly

Although the Colts pair of Nelson and Leonard are of course the only pair to both be coming off their rookie seasons.

And they have already become tone-setting leaders for the Colts on their respective side of the ball.  There is just not enough that can be said about these two guys and what they've done for this team in just one year.  :scoregood:

We lookat our roster past and present, along with things like this... then you remember.... Grigson was GM of the year while Ballard has not.  What the heck?

Ballard was named Executive of the Year last year.

And he didn't have to draft Andrew Luck to win it either!  haha

According to the press, Dumb and Dumber was a successful movie grossing $247 M. It may not be obvious, but there is something vaguely familiar between that movie and the Colts under Pagano and Grigson.

Those two took two of the worst units in the league (our OL and LB's) and made it a strength
