Yes....  I would think so.   The $$$ have to be right, but I would think we’d be interested...   he’s exactly the type of player Ballard would want in his locker room.

And if we don’t make a move on McCoy, that should tell you what Ballard thinks of Autry, Lewis and Ward.   That’s a really good three some, all of whom play McCoy’s spot.

That's exactly why I think it's a hard pass. I can't imagine Ballard giving him the $.

I certainly hope so. He would be a serious playmaker in the middle of this defense.

The money could be the only problematic thing

The question is....... can he play the 1 tech?

He is 300Lbs, and is a penetrating force (Or at least used to be)

He supposedly a high character, locker room kinda guy.....

We do have a logjam at UT, which McCoy plays

I put it at 25% chance

Is McCoy at this stage better than who the Colts currently have?

Maybe, maybe not.   But he's likely as good as Autry.   More experienced than Lewis and Ward,  but he's great in the locker room.   Great on the sidelines.     Good on the field.    Veteran leadership and presense...

The question would be,  how much would McCoy want?     The Devil is in the details....

That is exactly the way I feel

I definitely think so.  He's the type of veteran presence that I think Ballard would be after at a position that probably could use a little fortifying.  As with other available FA's I can see Ballard putting down a number and not budging to much from it.  I think it would be a good and fair offer maybe with incentives.  McCoy will have his share of suitors so it will be interesting to see how his situation plays out.  But YES he should be an option for the Colts.

The roster is full at UT.  There is room at NT for one more, IMO.  So if he can play there, then I think he might be signed.

If he can hold up at the nose, fine, but I doubt it

Maybe he’s the nose on passing downs only?    Otherwise...........

McCoy is better than anything we have along the D-line. He's a very high character guy and still plays at a very high level. I think he's capable of playing the NT spot but he's better suited as a UT where we're kind of deep at the moment. I'd take him on a one or two year deal. I don't think he's ever been to the playoffs. He's made a ton of money already so you'd hope now he is hungry for a title run.

This guy has colts sources. It looks like he wants to go to a contender and he likes luck.

I'd go 2 years, 20 million on him. I think he can hold down the fort for two years until we find a solid replacement. Fits perfectly here IMO.

I forgot(Didn’t realize) that Phair was his DL coach

Honestly I don't think it matters, but sure doesn't hurt.

Would love a two year deal.

This would be a solid signing and seems like something Ballard would do.

Remember what happened when the colts got booger. This would be a great pickup.

Ballard would make a great card player.

I expect him to be waiting for the right guys to be released.  This may be the position where it makes sense.  Much like Justin Houston made sense.

  1. Might be a blessing in disguise, having both McCoy and Suh both available DT FA's.  One might think they should sign sooner than later with an opportunity to play of a up and coming competitor and can compete now for a Championship, with either as the final piece to the puzzle.  If we sign one of them, the other will be left looking for another team, unlikely with the upside of the Colts.  I think a fair 2 year contract would be OK, with some incentives. If either focuses on their game, preparation and physical conditioning, he can be a solid player with the supporting cast we can provide.

We didn't address an interior disrupter in the draft.  Maybe Ballard gambled on this happening?  Either way, he should correct that problem now.  Need to take that pocket apart from the inside.  Imo, our current crop can't do that consistently.

Not sure if I see it happening unless they decide to kick Lewis back out to DE. We've got Autry, Lewis and Jihad Ward at 3 Tech. I guess you move Lewis to DE again and go with him, Turay, and Banogu as the edge rushers behind Houston and Sheard. Then you'd have Mccoy, Autry, and Ward on the inside at 3T. Not sure!

    • Jack Doyle I would downgrade form 86 to 82. Darius Leonard upgrade from 84 to 88. Jabaal Sheard upgrade from 82 to 84. Pierre Desir and Kenny Moore more like 81-84, instead of 79 and 80.   Denico Autry at 76 is a joke, last year had him at 80, what did he do to lose the ratings? Rigo Sanchez at 74 is a joke. Mark Glowinski should be 78 or so, not 74. Jacoby Brisset at 71 is a joke. Anthony Walker at 69 is a joke, minimum 75. Le'Raven Clark at 56 is a joke, if he was that bad, we would have a highlight reel of his bad moves *cough* Austin Howard *cough*
    • Not sure if it was mentioned?  ...but Patterson is out for the year.   https://www.colts.com/news/rookie-center-javon-patterson-out-for-year-with-acl-injury   INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich said Tuesday that rookie center Javon Patterson will miss the 2019 season after suffering an injury to his ACL.   "Unfortunately Javon Patterson did sustain an ACL injury, so he’ll be out for the year," Reich told reporters. "Tough break for him, but one of the things we know about Javon: a high-character guy. We’ve talked to him and will give him all the support he needs.   "He’ll rehab and get ready to go for next year."   Patterson was the Colts' seventh-round (246th-overall) pick in this year's NFL Draft out of Ole Miss.
    • Eric Ebron is not to happy lol.
    • What people are you talking about?   This was the only quote in this thread I could find that fits:   and Supe said he was wrong because Leonard lived up to his pick and the Colts got it right...  Unless I missed something, this seems like a bit of an overreaction.
    • Not sure why you're confused. He'd instantly give us the best LB corps in the league. He's entering his age 29 season and there's no reason to think he doesn't have 5 years of elite production left.    Invested in Walker?  He's a 5th rd pick. Speed?  Another 5th. These are depth picks typically, not investments. Okereke was an investment in the future but he doesn't change your actions in regards to the best player in the league at his position.    Wagner would instantly become one of the top 2-3 players on the team.
