Colts draft Gerri Green, DE, Mississippi State

Recommended Posts

Wow....crazy traits. Seems sort of like Turay and Banogu.

Pretty clear that Ballard has a type for EDGE.

Alright, I like it. Seems like a crazy good athlete. Apparently did better in 2017 than 2018 when he played as an edge LB'er rather than a DE, playing better in space than with his hand in the dirt.

Maybe the Colts are switching to 3-4...haha. Would probably be seamless now...especially with who they have added.

Welp, I hope that isn't his highlight film.

Wow, that's four guys in the front-seven.

Three in the secondary makes 7/8 defensive picks.

Yeah wow. Lots of competition for spots.

Depth, Jimmy Johnson did the same thing with the Cowboys years ago. He would enter change guys on the line and at LB and keep his defense fresh and speedy.

I hope it means we're going to have a LOT of looks to throw at opponents.  We need to trick Brady eventually.

We knew this draft would create some good depth/competition but man, cream's gonna rise to the top on defense.

Once again this graph shows that Ballard once some very high-level competition. Every one needs to bring their A-game to training camp. With the addition of Green we seem to have a lot of great inside-outside play all across the LB positions. I don't think we'll be complaining about the linebacking position this season. It was a weak spot for us last year so Ballard went out and fixed it

I know...it was a joke. I just like that Ballard goes after twitchy edge guys who have traits...instead of the bigger DE types that aren't very athletic. Makes me very happy.

Definitely looks like they're trying to address the problems we've had in pass coverage on crossing routes and rushing the passer as well.

Looking like the udfa's will be where we try to address OL depth.

Now, how about a big running back with the last pick?

I don’t even see how it’s relevant!

Did Kelvin Harmon's arms fall off? He was projected to be a 1st/2nd rounder at one point, now he's being avoided like the plague.

All I know is if I’m on the defensive side of the ball and not named Hooker or Leonard, I’m very very nervous and prepping my resume just in case

Patriots.com had a draft video of him where he appears to be at least a defensive team captain - even above Sweat and Abram....

Also a suerior athlete per his RAS Score.

With Ballard, Dodds and Hogan comparing these draft picks to historically successful players it's just a matter of their mental game beyondcthat as to whether they'll fit in.

Well, wasn't it said by many in hopes that next year the Colts would address the defense in the draft?

Mission accomplished

Yeah I agree. You can see what Ballard was talking about when he got here. There will be competition EVERYWHERE. I'm definitely a fan because he's preached about how we will constantly try to get better from guy #52/53 on the roster all the way up.

We're definitely more 'rangy' and athletic along with speed everywhere on D.

So what is he playing? Edge or one of the LB spots?

Hey both of our low round LBerz made the team and played last year so i give all these 6th, 7th round guys a decent chance to do something.
