Just a quick chance for everyone to get on record with their guesses on positions taken.

Will the "experts" be even close to being correct, or will Ballard surprise again.

Voted iDL, S, and WR. I think S and WR could be interchangeable though, and will depend on who's out there.

Damned if I know either lol.

One thing I know, some will +, some will moan, some will be happy, some will scratch their head, some will say I told you so. I personally don't care if it translates to a SB in the next 3 years.

Yeah if it's anything like last year, there will be a lot in the "* & moan" category, even more in the head-scratching category (like me), and there will be that one guy that got it right and lets us all know about it.  haha

Last year when I heard Nelson, I was stoked (I'm an ND fan and I knew he's very special). The second two picks didn't freak me out or anything, but I did have to go play on the google machine. I knew Smith because I see a lot of SEC football here down South, and have an Auburn buddy.

Didn't really know Leonard except for some casual reading pre-draft on big boards. I did think both were a bit of a reach, but I was happy as hell we got a second OL (I thought we would have taken a T), and I absolutely loved Leonard's profile/history after I read it. Didn't know if it would translate to the NFL since he was from a smaller school, but his Senior Bowl effort and game against Clemson helped me to embrace things the more I read.

I'm just ready for this to start!  Tired of all the threads where everyone is guessing and speculating.  I know it's fun and I've learned a lot, but this has been like getting the Christmas catalog (yes, I'm aging myself) 2 months before Christmas.  You can only circle things so many time and fold the corners of pages over so many times...the waiting is getting exhausting!

Ultimately, it's up to Santa as to what you get :)

So far, trending like I thought. iDL 1st, and WR/S with the next two.

Same with the majority of "experts" out there.

The live Mock on NFL.com had the Colts picking Abrams while a few of the good iDLs were still available. I don't see it. Can definitely see a S at 26 if the iDLs are gone though.

Almost did this and then pulled the trigger on an O-lineman with #34. I'm thinking McGary.

I've got my eye on OT Roemer in the 6th or 7th, and G Bars in the 7th or UFA. I'd bet both are starting in 2020

I voted the same. Most likely scenario IMO

So Chris Ballard is Santa? No wonder my gifts from Santa were "reached" on every year!

I think there's a difference between "Which positions will the Colts like to pick?" and "Which positions will the Colts actually pick?"

I think most are weighing talent level within position groups vs colts need vs what will be there when we pick.

I agree with what Ballard said about there being around 15ish tier 1 players in this draft, and then about 55ish tier 2 guys that are all close. that means that 26, 34, and 59 are likely the tier 2 guys unless one of the top 15 guys fall to 26. the only unknown here is who are Ballards top 15, and how he views the stack from 16-70 tier 2. iDL is likely the position due to depth of this years draft that we'd take at 26, but who knows what might fall, or not fall. WR and S, which most experts say are also our top needs should be easily availalbe 16-70.

Top 5 thus far

32 total picks for iDL (25 1st pick)

27 total picks for S (16 2nd pick)

21 total for WR (12 3rd pick)

15 total for Edge

10 total for OT

Every other position less than 10 total votes across first 3 picks

    • I dont see us spending that kind of money for his guy   Could be wrong.......   I would love to have him   But.......   We have a packed UT spot..... with 4 guys that play it   Ward, Autry, Lewis.......  I think McCoy is better, but we have a decent rotation at the spot   McCoy would be in the rotation   Do you pay 10-13 Mil for a rotation guy who is on the wrong side of 30     I dont see it happening.......   The Colts have probably pegged the guy at 7-9 Mil..........     They have proven to almost always drop out of bidding war
    • Which of the following did you mean?   He needs to come through, for us to be a top 5.   He needs to come through for us, to be a top 5.   Subtle difference, different meanings.
    • Not according to Football Outsiders. They have GB’s pass protection ranked as follows:   2018 - 21 2017 - 28  2016 - 11 2015 - 23 2014 - 13 2013 - 26   Not really much “up” and mostly “down.” Rodgers hasn’t had top-tier pas protection for an entire decade...and it’s often pretty bad...and has gotten him injured (like Luck).   His pass protection in 2017 was actually almost as bad as Brissett’s...and he ultimately fractured his collar bone after being flushed out of the pocket. But in the 9 games he did play, he put up a 97 passer rating.    From 2009-2014, his average passer rating was 110...and only one season did he have an OL above 23rd.   The guy is the best ever IMO. Suffice to say...I think he would have managed alright on the 2017 Colts...unlike the others you mentioned.
    • Irsay can afford anything Ballard wants to do.     He can easily afford to spend up the limits of the salary cap and we’re far from being even close to the salary cap limit.   What do we have to spend?    $65 mill?  $70 mill?    The most in the NFL.   We’re in position to extend the deals of guys like AC and TYH and others.  If we DON’T sign McCoy it won’t be because we don’t have the money to spend.  It will be because we decided not to spend that much money.   Those are two completely different issues.
    • I said 2 years 25 mil. I still think thats enough to get him, but there is sone serious competition for his services
