Interesting statement in bold. I think this is always the case. In the draft, there are many possible probabilistic trends but in reality no one has a clue what actual path the draft will take, in advance. The speculations in this forum are interesting, but like fairy tales or science fiction they are just entertaining stories. Sadly, some fans truly believe in these stories and they will be the ones disillusioned and critical after the draft.

Mostly true (except in rare cases like 2012).

 

But I really meant we have no real glaring needs. Except for QB, we could truly go for BPA in the first three to five picks.  Not that we’re loaded at every position but we’re certainly in real good shape.

If a good OL falls into our laps at #26, Ballard will not hesitate to pull the trigger. Need quality players on the roster, regardless of position. Grigson got in trouble when he would reach for need, see Bjorn Werner

I would argue that more talent is needed along the D line. That group is not good enough. And a long term running mate for TY. Those are two glaring needs.

Typically they will have identified a certain number of OT/G that they deem to be starter caliber, guys who will be expected to compete and likely win a starter spot. If there are only one of those guys left at 26, I think we'll get him.  If there are three four of those guys like or someone they think they can get late I expect us to go OT with the 2nd or 3rd.  I don't see us not going tackle with one of the first three picks. Keep an eye on the guy from K-State.

I think that you will see Inman come back, Cain improve, at least ONE of the WRs from last years draft step up....... AND a decent 3rd round WR from this draft

 

It may happen, but I just don't see A WR taken in the first 3 picks

I wouldn't mind that. I was more referring to comments about moving Smith to rg because he's not a "true" rt.  I'm not even sure what that means honestly.  You can either play the position or you can't and he can and after only 2/3 of a season there.  Also we are severely underestimating Glowinski.  If he was a high pick, we'd be singing his praises imo. 

 

I also wouldn't put too much stock in 1-5 w/o AC imo.  That was early on when things were sort of a mess to begin with.

A oline player only makes sense round 3 or later. Your not going to waste a first round guy on someone who isn’t going to start or even crack the the lineup if there is injury.

I don’t think Inman will be back if we draft a WR. Especially if we get one of the bigger names ones. There just isn’t room for Inman.

Hilton, Funchess, Rookie, Inman, Cain.

 

There’s five.   And if we carry six then it’s Rogers.   Fountain could be back on the PS.

 

Thus is not a prediction.   Just saying if we want Inman there’s still room.

If it were up to me, I'd re-sign Inman, grab a top rookie WR, and keep Rogers around as well. 6 WRs makes sense in today's NFL.

Probabaly not for a team like the Colts who is openly talking about being a Top 5-10 Rushing team.

I just don’t see bringing Inman back If draft a known receiver. Ballard will probably want to see what the young guys can do. Fountain and Johnson will probably be gone at that point. That would leave Rogers and Pascal.

Honestly, I don't think keeping 6 WRs, especially when one is your return specialist, cancels out the goal of becoming a better rushing team. What that requires is four good TE's and another, larger RB. I wouldn't be shocked to see the Colts draft a TE sooner than many believe, nor would I be surprised to see a WR picked Day 2. DT; S; TE; OT; WR.....any of these positions could be selected by the end of Day 2 and it would improve the team.

Most occasions last year we went with 5 WR on game day.  I think if you plan on extra receivers anywhere you would be looking at extra TE which we usually went with 3 or 4 I think.  The extra tights for us were really our 6th receiver.  I don't think they will deviate from that in my opinion.

Bold prediction there. And Greedy doesn't exactly fit what the Colts do on defense. He's a cover guy that won't tackle anybody. The Colts defensive scheme demands a CB that can tackle.

I don't think he's considered a scheme fit is he?  Based on what I hear, which is by no means scripture, Greedy isn't exactly what the d is looking for in terms of a corner.  Good player though...
