Magic Johnson steps down as the Lakers President.

He wanted to fire Luke and Pelinka and go in a different direction than what Jeanie Buss did. He considers Jeanie like a sister and did not want to clash with her. So he quit. One thing Magic did do for the franchise is leave them tons of cap space and he was the reason why LeBron came as well. He also drafted Kuzma late in the 1st round. So these ESPN people saying he didn't do a good job is just not true. Magic just wasn't happy and did not want to clash with Jeanie. Jeanie took Magic's power away, that would be like Irsay overriding Ballard if he wanted to fire a coach. Magic was like bye bye.

He is still the 2nd greatest player I have ever seen, only Jordan was better. This doesn't change nothing and IMO he did the right thing here. Nice try Bird, maybe next time

Magic beats the Celtics in the Finals at the buzzer in a pivotal Game 4 at Boston 107-106. Lakers take 3-1 lead. Right in McHale and Parish's face. Dude shot a hook

I have no problem with Magic resigning, but it was pretty cowardly of him to not meet with Jeanie Buss and let her know first that he was resigning. I have always been a Magic Johnson fan, but to not have the "stones" to go and tell your boss that you are resigning before calling a impromptu press conference is pretty gutless. Very disappointed in how Magic handled this.

Magic said when he came in that if he could not get the job done in 2 or 3 years that "you wouldn't have to fire him. He' d resign on his own"
