Deano's Offseason Mock Draft 1.5

Deano's Mock Draft 1.5

Round 1 - pick 26 - Jeffery Simmons - UT

Think about it........  Jeffery Simmons at 26 is a HUGE Steal.

The dude is a Football STUD

Top 8 talent....... Had at 26..... Do you see Ballard actually passing on this guy because he may miss 1/2 of this one season?

Ballard thinks for the future...... not the present

The guy is almost unblockable at times

Jerry Tillary isnt near the talent of Simmons.... WHY TAKE TILLARY THEN?

Starts Day 1 (When Healthy)

(Option Pick - Tillary)

Round 2 – Pick 34 –  Dexter Lawrence - DT

Dexter Lawrence is a huge guy.  He isnt a trashcan 3-4 Nose Tackle..... he actually penetrates the line, and gets hits and pressures

I like him MUCH BETTER at 34, then 26

Try to block him one on one, and he dominates

They say he can continue to get stronger......  He already throws big guards and centers around.....

Having two stars on the interior creates huge opportunities for the fast LBs

Starts Day 1

(Option Pick Gardner - SS)

Round 2 Pick 59 - Juan Thornhill - SS

The Guy is an excellent football player with great speed and instincts

Former CB that can shut down TEs (Our biggest coverage problem)

He tackles well, he gets INTS

He covers a HUGE amount of the field

Starts day 1.

(Option Pick Isabella)

Round 3 - Pick 89 - Mile Boykin - WR

4.42 Speed , 220lbs, 6'4"

Developmental prospect with excellent speed and size.

Could start year 1

Round 4 – Pick 123 – Dennis Daley OT

Athletic OL, that needs time to develop (Possible future replacement for AC)

Round 4 – Pick  135 Bennie Snell RB

He didn’t have a great combine, but this kid EXACTLY fills out the one weakness in our RBC approach.

He is the battering ram that can also catch a pass. Watch the tape

Round 5/ Round 6/Round 7 – BPA (Need some CBs)

Thoughts?

I am not a wilting flower, so hit me with what you think........

Thanks for reading

Our 2nd pick in R2...............  is pick 59!    And not pick 56!

Alright,  wilt away,  you pretty little flower, you!!

If Simmons is there,  and we don't take him either at 26 or at 34,  it's NOT becaues of his injury.    Ballard is a big picture guy,  I think he'd gladly wait.

It would be because of the incident in high school 3 years ago caught on video.

I think Irsay would have to sign off on that,  and most here think he won't.

I would think that would be the only reason to bypass Simmons either time.

Big dude rehabbing an ACL out of the gate certainly makes you think twice.  So many 1st rounders are busts as is.

That said, maybe you do swing for the fences.  You essentially got a free first rounder in the Jets trade, so maybe you take a chance.  I doubt Ballard does, but who knows.

I don't see much different from the other mocks posted. It seems most are on the same page when it comes to the draft. I don't understand the feeling that corner is a position of need. We resigned Desir so will have our trio from last season intact. It's a young room Desir at 28 is the oldest guy followed by Milton and Collins 26, Hairston 24 and Moore Q and Killings are 23 years old.

I understand the need for competition and always improving depth. That looks like a pretty solid room Hairston going into year 3 and we see something in Killings. The Eagles and Pats both did from what I've read.  If Collins regains his form things could get interesting. Milton may have a tough time making the roster despite his special teams play.

I think you overlooked the youngest corner in the room....    Quincy Wilson.

Just sayin....

I have Q I just didn't use punctuation so it reads Moore Q and Killings 23. This is how it should read Moore, Q, and Killings  are all 23.

This Killings kid is interesting. He's 5'11and 190lbs ran a 4.48 40 and was considered a priority UDFA out of UCF . NE paid extra to secure his signature then in Philly he's given a raise to avoid losing him to an active roster. He's in his second stint with us.  I didn't remember much about him  had to do a little research. He's a guy I'll be watching this summer

No to Simmons. I’d move Lawrence to 26 and grab the best safety or WR available at 34. Then BPA at position of need from there on. I like the Daley and Snell picks in the 4th round. Both are solid values at positions of need. Thanks for doing this.

The last 4 Mock drafts on NFL.COM have Lawrence going to the Colts at 26

We will see what happens

Lawrence and Simmons would be a tough center of the defense

With the news that Ballard took Mixon off his board 2 years ago, I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened to Simmons.

I wonder if Mixon was given a meeting

Supposedly Simmons met with the Colts

I couldnt find where they even spoke to Mixon

It will be an interesting draft, many many ways to go

Great talent in round 2, in Colts areas of need

I'm still advocating for a trade out of round one for multiple round 2 and 3 picks. Thats where the value is. One of Lawrence, Tillary, Simmons will surely still be there at 34. Then if we can also get Deebo, Hooker, Omenihu, Oruwariye :D

Thanks....    sorry, I missed that on Q.

And thanks for the clarification and the good 411 on Killings.

I often love Ballard's under the radar type moves....

Simmons has met with the colts?     Really?     I have not seen this before?

Is there something already on the website for me to see, or is it somewhere out there in the internet?      Love to see it....     just asking....

The ones I would pay attention to are Jeremiah,  Casserly and Zeirlein.

The rest,  guys like Reuter and Shrager and Charles Davis I'm mostly meh on....

Gladly,  they seem to have fewer mocks done by former athletes....   those were mostly eye rolling....

No worries it difficult to follow when there is no punctuation. I a big fan of nearly all Ballards moves.

I am leaning this way as well. I think Ballard could clean up with a couple more Day Two picks. I would be targeting a team that wants that 5th year option on a QB.

A mid round second AND a 2nd next year ..........  (maybe an additional 5th this year)

That 34 pick puts us on one of those 3
