2019 Colts Schedule Predictions

Recommended Posts

With the over/under having us at 9.5 wins, I copied and pasted this from my post in December.  Many times it is not just who you play, but when you play them.  This schedule should allow us to get off to a strong start and then get 3 of the final 4 at home against the division.  With a possible 5-1 start in our sights, I'll take the over.

9/8 @ Jax 1pm (CBS)

9/15 MIA 1pm (CBS)

9/22 OAK 1pm (CBS)

I want to see what a few of these teams (and us) do in the draft and the rest of FA before making a call.  I think we definitely have a good shot at winning the AFC South, but the AFC West opponents I think are too much of a crapshoot right now.

KC has a high-powered offense, but they let a few of their stalwarts on defense go.  Andy Reid, IMO, is too smart to have done that without having a plan or being confident that they've got younger guys who can step up.

I think Flacco has some good ball left in him and is a very good fit on that Denver team.  I think they're going to surprise some folks.

The Raiders have made some improvements and have 3 first round draft picks in 2019. I'm glad we have them early in the year, as I expect they're going to get better as the season goes on and the younger guys start to gel.  I just hope Burfict doesn't pull any cheap stuff on any of our guys, he was already a dirty player and crazy on the field -- now he's gonna be wearing a Raider uniform, which I doubt will do anything to help him settle down as a player.

Philip Rivers is coming off one of the best years of his career and SD looked pretty good last year.

The NFC South doesn't really scare me too much outside of NO, especially because they're going to be hungry coming off that NFC Championship loss.

Subject to major change based on what we and other teams do for the rest of the off-season.... but I will say we'll be 11-5 or 12-4 and back atop the AFC South.  I think we'll go 3-1 against the NFC South, 2-2 with the AFC West, 5-1 with the AFC South, beat Miami and toss-up at Pitt.

Not that it means anything, but I could easily see us jump out to 5-0/4-1. Pretty good early season positioning.

Should be a fun season compared to the last few years prior to last season. We've got a little winning back in our blood...:D

I have to see the schedule first. I mean could wee start out with 2 tough road games. Are those tough games spread out through out the season. Last year we had 3 home games in a row which saved our season.

It would be like the NFL to give us three national Sunday/Monday games all AWAY.  That would suck.  Is this the schedule or just made up? If it is made up, not understanding how any predictions could be made?

It's a made up schedule. I do not think the actual schedule comes out until mid April.

10-6 seems like a safe bet every year, but ill go 13-3. We lose to the jags, chiefs, and saints

I can see 11-5 realistically as an early prediction. I see 7-1 at home and 4-4 on the road. The 4 road games we will probably lose are at KC, at SD, at NO, and at Houston. Law of averages says Houston will beat us once next season because we just beat them 2 in a row there. I think we break the Pittsburgh jinx and win there. I have 7-1 at home because we will probably lose a game we shouldn't, it happens every year and most teams do not go 8-0 at home. I can see 5-1 in the division if we win at Jacks, I see us sweeping the Titans, splitting with Houston.

11-5 minimum, regardless of schedule. Ballard/Reich are building

A team to smack some as s this year.

Ewwww gross, it was just nice having the option to go to NFL games and occasionally see the Colts in SD. The Chargers are the DEVIL!

Each year on the Colts forum, I predict the schedule for fun.  I usually try and create a schedule that is very favorable in terms of when the games are played (i.e fast starts and strong finishes).

The actual schedule release will probably occur on April 16th, 17th, or 18th.  It's the week before the draft.

I would love to start out with Tennessee at home, then Oakland at home, then at Tampa. I am sick of getting off to slow starts. If we can start 3-0 we can play more loose at that point.

If we open at home I would rather start with the toughest team. Jump on them before they get into season shape.

If it's an away game hopefully it's a weaker team.

However it works out we have to win the tough ones.

I'll go with 1-6.      It's going to be a tough schedule to get through and I think the AFC South will be improved.

It’s going to be a interesting season with this schedule. We will find out if we are as good as we think or still need major work. If some how we came out with home field through the playoffs we will be Sb abound.

Road schedule is BRUTAL. But the home schedule only has one 2018 playoff team on it. They can geniunely go 8-0. But lets see.

I'd say:

HOME:

Wins: Houston, Jags, Falcons, Panthers, Broncos, Dolphins, Raiders

Loss: Tennessee (Think they finally bag one)

ROAD:

Wins: Jags, Titans, Chargers, Steelers

Losses: Texans, Chiefs, Saints, Bucs (I have a feeling this year that Bruce and Jamies is gonna work).

So 11-5. Most years thats a 3rd seed. At least it should be a home playoff game. If they're lucky it could be a 2 seed.

My only prediction is the NFL will schedule our road game in Tampa on Sunday October 6.  It will be the 16th anniversary, to the very day, of the 38-35 overtime comeback win in 2003.

I see 12-4 as very possible.

I think we win 1 of the 4  games against Pitts, NO, KC, and Chargers.....

We will lose to Jacksonville the final game......

because we are RESTING OUR STARTERS for the playoffs

    • Simple reason. KC was missing the things that gave them their strength and identity. We were/are missing things that we didn't use well or often when healthy, and continue not to utilize them even when they are open.    If a baseball team is known for having bad pitching, but great bats, does it matter if their pitcher is out? Or is it worse if their #1 hitter is out?   And LOL at the other stuff. I'm sure I can guess who the pearl clutcher (s) is (are). One in particular is stalkerish via unsolicited PMs. I could care less what they or others think, especially if it's the one or ones I suspect. Questioning my fandom is pretty darn funny though. I'm not a fan because I disagree with certain narratives... sure...
    • Florio is a *. He has no inside info. What he said was stupid.  If   their guy is there they will take him. They will not reach for a QB though. I do not see them taking a QB that late. What would be the purpose. They still have Kelly if they want a young backup. I doubt they take that big of a risk hoping a 3rd or 4thtd QB becomes the franchise.
    • I don't know if this has been discussed anywhere else on this forum but regarding Kelly and others, Reich and Ballard are always harping on competition and position battles to build a stronger team. It seems to me the 2 weakest areas on this team are the 2 they haven't allowed any competition, qb and kicker. Just an observation. I can't complain about being 6-6, I thought we'd go 11-5 or 10-6, just couldn't get it done in key moments of some games(the qb and kicker really let us down at times). It's not over yet though, if we can win out we still have a chance at the post season.
    • It was definitely not a good story ending for the underdogs, or a triumphant tale like Rudy, that's for darn sure..... All kids should have a similar experience though lol... It's a welcome to reality moment.    Finding tape on guys is much much easier that it used to be. I'm definitely no expert though. I'm just someone that prefers stats and film to watching a bunch of brainless TV shows lol.  It's more of something to do around the draft/FA period when there's not football to watch. To me, the more you know, the more interesting the season is. Also the more realistic you are about some guys.
    • To get this back on track. The more I read and hear from so called experts. It would not be shocking that Ballard just continues to build around JB and draft a QB in like round 3-4. You hear Florio say that the Colts are happy and moving forward with JB. Then you see these colts.com post these stats about the offense and JB particularly.    Colts Offense   Fourth in the NFL and second in the AFC in rushing yards (139 per game)   Tied for 10th in the NFL in fewest sacks allowed (24)   Ninth in the NFL in sack percentage allowed (6.14)   Fifth in the NFL in first downs per game (22.2)   Ninth in the NFL in third down conversion percentage (44.23)   Third in the NFL in 3rd-and-short [less than four yards] conversion percentage (72.9)   Fifth in the NFL in 3rd-and-10-plus conversion percentage (26.7)   Seventh in the NFL in fourth down conversion percentage (62.5)   Tied for fifth in the NFL in fourth downs converted (10)   Tied for eighth in the NFL in red zone touchdown scoring percentage (63.64)   Seventh in the NFL in average time of possession (31:26)   Tied for third in the NFL in touchdowns off 10-play drives (13)   Tied for fourth in the NFL in 10-play drives (26)   Second in the NFL in average number of plays on scoring drives (9.00)   Tied for third in the NFL in red zone touchdowns (28)   Tied for third in the NFL in players recording three or more receiving touchdowns (4)   10th in the NFL in PFF offensive rating (75.8)   10th in the NFL in PFF pass blocking rating (74.4)   Second in the NFL in PFF run blocking rating (82.6)   Quarterback Jacoby Brissett   Eighth in the AFC in completion percentage (64.3)   Tied for sixth in the AFC in passing touchdowns (16)   Fifth in the AFC in touchdown percentage (4.9)   Tied for sixth in the AFC in fewest interceptions (6)   Sixth in the AFC in interception percentage (1.8)   Sixth in the AFC in passer rating (93.2)   Sixth in the AFC in third down passer rating (88.7)   Tied for first in the NFL in third-and-one rushing conversion percentage (100)   Tied for fifth in the NFL in rushing touchdowns among quarterbacks (3)   Tied for sixth in the NFL in red zone passing touchdowns (14)   Tied for sixth in the NFL in passing touchdowns within 10-yard line (10)   10th in the NFL among qualified quarterbacks in fumbling grade (62.6)   Seventh in the NFL in undesigned QB scrambles (25)*   Eighth in the NFL in adjusted completion percentage (76.3)*   Tied for fourth in the NFL in fewest interceptions under pressure (1)*   Third in the NFL in completion percentage in clean pocket (75.0)*   Tied for 10th in the NFL in fewest interceptions in clean pocket (5)*   Third in the NFL in adjusted completion percentage in clean pocket (83.0)*   10th in the NFL in passer rating in clean pocket (107.5)*   Fifth in the NFL in play action completion percentage difference (7.0)*   Tied for fourth in the NFL in play action passing touchdowns (7)*   Tied for seventh in the NFL in fewest play action interceptions (1)*   Ninth in the NFL in play action completion percentage (69.3)*   Eighth in the NFL in play action passer rating (110.5)*   Tied for eighth in the NFL in fewest non-play action interceptions (5)*   Third in the NFL in average time in pocket (3.01 seconds)*   Fifth in the NFL in average time to run/scramble (5.61 seconds)*   First in the NFL in fewest percentage of dropbacks with ball held for less than 2.5 seconds (36.7)*   Tied for sixth in the NFL in completion percentage with ball held for less than 2.5 seconds (75.0)*   Ninth in the NFL in passer rating with ball held for less than 2.5 seconds (102.9)*   First in the NFL in dropbacks with ball held for more than 2.5 seconds (63.3)*   10th in the NFL in completion percentage with ball held for more than 2.5 seconds (58.2)*   Tied for seventh in the NFL in fewest interceptions with ball held for more than 2.5 seconds (3)*
