2019 Gavin Mock Draft RD 1!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

With pick No.30 of the 4th round of the Gavin mock draft, The Oakland Raiders select:

Kahale Warring, TE, San Jose State

With the additions of Antonio Brown and Tyrell Williams, and the loss of Jared Cook, they need an infusion of young talent at the TE position and this pick has all the upside they want.

@DaveA1102 is on the clock. Since he wants to do BPA, I will take suggestions for the Rams.

The Rams have so far gotten Garrett Bradbury, C, North Carolina State and Miles Sanders, RB, Penn State.

@CR91 @NFLfan @stitches @Matthew Gilbert  - thoughts???

Ben Banogu??? Daylon Mack???

Mack sounds good to me

Man, Ben Banogu scares me. All this hype sounds like Tarell Basham to me all over again. Anyone else feel that way?

I will break the tie and go with Daylon Mack since the Rams are not bringing back Suh and got Clay Matthews, plus Dante Fowler Jr. and Samson Ebukam on their roster.

@DaveA1102 and The Los Angeles Rams select Daylon Mack, NT, Texas A & M

Based on this article that the Patriots brought in Kingsley Keke from Texas A & M, we have 2 Aggies go back-to-back:

With Pick No.32 of the 4th round of the Gavin mock draft, The New England Patriots and @danlhart87 select:

Kingsley Keke, Texas A & M

He is also rated highly enough on nfl.com:

https://www.nfl.com/draft/tracker/prospects/DE?college=allColleges&page=1&status=ALL

@pacolts56 and the 49ers are on the clock

I would have voted Mack there. Makes the most sense as a replacement for Suh.

I'm back, sorry, minor crisis at work.

Being that we are just a couple picks away from the end of this mock, once this completes, we will take a break for a couple days, give everyone a chance to relax and step away for a few days.  V2.0 will start Tuesday, 4/9/2019 at 9 am EST.

If we have (say) 20 teams signed up for, let us go for a 2nd team sign up for V 2.0, it will get done fast.

Already posted that on the v2.0 thread, I'm opening it up at 330 pm today.

@CR91 @stitches @Matthew Gilbert

If someone's gonna draft him it's the Cowboys. They don't seem to discriminate against players with off-field issues. He has talent otherwise.

@danlhart87 asked me to pick BPA.

So, the Atlanta Falcons pick Ben Banogu, DE, TCU

Then, the final pick of the 4th round is the Eagles i.e. me.

With that, the Eagles pick:

Ryan Finley, QB, North Carolina State

Is it possible to merge all four Gavin Mock Draft Version 1 threads into one thread? Then if we want to check it later, there is only one thread to look for. Also, it will take up less room on the first page of the "NFL Draft/Scouting/Free Agency" forum.

No urgency.

Thank you. :thanks:

Is it possible to merge all four Gavin Mock Draft Version 1 threads into one thread? Then if we want to check it later, there is only one thread to look for. Also, it will take up less room on the first page of the "NFL Draft/Scouting/Free Agency" forum.

No urgency.

Thank you. :thanks:

Done. No worries.

    • Not sure what you have seen during college or post college to determine that one Qb is a game manager and another other is not.  The physicality prism?     All the Qb can do is to see where to throw the ball, then throw it there accurately. The WRs have to go unscripted too, and find an open spot, or a spot that he can be lead to.      After 5 seconds from the snap of the ball, whether the Qb makes that decision and throws the ball from the pocket or by running to the right hash mark doesn't matter, other than being on the right hash mark provides half as many opportunities to see where to throw the ball and throw it there accurately.   If unscripted means that my $125 mil Qb is carrying the team by making 25 yard scrambles for TDs, and is treated as a runner, I don't want that.  Its pretty to watch and nice to have, but its not really what the Qb position is about, IMO.
    • I believe Reich has shown that he adjusts his offense to his QBs style, Therefore it's most important to get the best QB we can draft, instead of getting the best fit for a certain system   To me Fromm is like Gordon who has a lot to prove (if not more because he had a way more talented team). I keep hearing how smart he is but, Fitzpatrick is one of the smartest QBs to play the game and I wouldn't want him on our team, If we drafted him though I wouldn't trade back into the 1st for him because that would mean at least 3-4 QBs were taken and we could get him with one of our second rnd picks.
    • The scrambling ability is not why I don’t want Fromm. I want a guy that can put a team on his shoulders when things aren’t going right.  A game manager is not going to give us a team that can compete with Mahomes the next decade. The ability to make plays unscripted though is something that is important in the NFL today with players getting faster. Having a QB that can go off script when a play breaks down is huge.
    • Jones is who I want...even if it's a franchise and trade.   As for DEs...I would look at Clowney. Would step right in and replace Sheard.
    • I think most want a QB who doesn't have to carry the team just to be competitive.    Reich had both the scrambler, Wentz, and the statue, Foles, and won with both.  Don't get fooled into adopting the scrambling trendiness as being something essential.   Its merely about how long a QB holds the ball to allow something to develop.  Some leave the pocket. Others stay there until the last second.  Running to one side of the field normally cuts your vision of the field in half, limiting the options.  We have the pocket to give any QB time to stand there and extend the play.  Most teams don't.   I'm intrigued by Eason.  I like his height.  Its tough to substitute that.  Obviously Herbert too.
