I wonder what Mack will be thinking if we signed Bell. I wil say if the colts were able to land him I will give him credit for wanting to plY with a winner. Put Bell and Mack in the backfield at the same time teams will be so confused.

Lol Im not sure where you got the idea that people thought Bell wouldn't be a great addition. The only argument I've ever seen is paying a large amount for a RB

I'd imagine Mack would be dealt before, or during, the draft. They aren't gonna pay Lev all of that $ to split time with Marlon Mack...no.

I think he's one of the most overrated players in football.  Steelers RB's always do well, they replaced him with James Conner and didn't miss a beat.

 

Plus we arn't really that bad at RB.  We could maybe use a little more depth there, but that's it.  We really don't need Bell.

Idk, because all I've heard for months is that he would destroy the locker room, and that he wouldn't be worth whatever contract he'd get. In reality, he's potentially the most lethal weapon in football, and they obviously need more weapons...so, why not add one of the best, one of the more dynamic? How often is it that a player like this is just open? And, the Colts have the most $ available? Sounds like the perfect storm to me.

It would be dumb to sign Lev freaking Bell to a huge deal and let him split time with a lesser talent like Mack. IF he gets signed, Mack is a goner. Bell's deal will be for the long term, and by the time it's done Mack will be off of his rookie deal, it then becomes get something for him while the value is high...and his value will almost certainly depreciate sitting behind Lev.

The other side of it:  this is a business and you're trying to generate excitement and sell tickets, so it's something you have to consider.  Irsay is still the owner of the team. 

 

That said, I highly doubt Bell is a Colt.

I am not sure how the locker room would feel about trading Mack because we got. Elk. Mack has worked his butt off. I would think that could hurt the locker room. I would actually feel really bad for Mack. I don’t think the colts would trade him.

No I was responding to the person that said we would trade Mack by the draft if we get Bell.

Za'Darius Smith going to the Packers might be a good thing for us in the draft. 

 

They are desperate for an EDGE rushers, so hopefully Smith satisfies they enough to pass on a player like Brian Burns.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bell really wants to play for us. Not that I think he'd take significantly less or anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's holding out hope that we come close to what he's looking for. At the very least it's hard for me to believe that the Jets don't already have a really good offer on the table for him.

I don't know.  This market is very robust.  I can guess at 4yrs.@ 17m plus incentives with 50% guaranteed.  He would certainly give us the biggest bang for the buck.  Excitement, playmaking ability, ticket sales, you name it.   What I do know is I'm feeling better about this than I did before I went to bed last night.

I really REALLY REALLY hope we don't even approach this type of pay for Bell. This would be really bad management of our resources.

I don't agree. Mack us still cheap and the more RB's the better to stay fresh for the playoffs.
