this was going to be the best colts team in the last decade. previous division winners dont matter at all
they probably will miss the playoffs now because we dont have a good QB, with luck we would have been division favorite this year
Well, let’s see how Jacoby performs this year. Generally speaking, most NFL personnel people haven’t viewed him as a viable permanent starter. But now’s his opportunity to prove them wrong. He’s going to be surrounded by a pretty good coterie of supporting talent — on the line, in the backfield, and down the field.
If it doesn’t work out, then of course we’re going to be joining the long line of teams on the hunt for “the one.” And that, of course, is what we all fear...we thought we already him and we’ve seen what other teams have had to go through to find the right guy...often coming up short.
We know Ballard loves to move down the draft board. Maybe he’ll be using those same skills to go the other way in the next draft.
It sucks that we’re in this position. But it’s where we’re at and we just have to make the best of it.
He'll be a ERFA next year, and a RFA after the next, so a) the Colts can keep him for cheap for 3 more years, b) they'll have all the time in the world to test/decide if he's good enough (and characterwise capable of) leading this team.
Btw, I am amongst those who believe that based on pure talent, Kelly is better than Brissett. (waaay better). He's been showcasing his talent ever since he's been entered the NFL last summer. He turned heads in Denver as well, just like here in Indy.
However.... his maturity/character is a big concern. The Colts have to do a TON of homework on him before considering anything more than him being a backup.
