It's  not better news as we barely beat the raiders without brown.

We should be better this year (so should the Raiders), do who knows?

I look at the Brown acquisition like the guy who’s landed a really good-looking girlfriend that’s got a questionable character. In the end, misery. Time will tell. I’m just glad he’s not a Colt (and he didn’t go to NE.)

Hahaha!  You mean when we only beat them by 14. Break a leg AB.

Yes indeed.

It's is Great News that the colts won't be adding one of the Best players in a much needed position. And for 2 mid round picks.

We can only pray to bring back the highly talented Inman. Lol

Yes, I want the next Terrell Owens on my team for one year to distract the locker room and get the HC/GM ticked off enough to cut you...

**Andy Reid suspends Owen for four games for conduct detrimental to the team, then deactivates him for the final five games. Owens signs with Dallas after the season.**

Dungy says if you can't play for Reid, you can't play for him either.  I don't want a T.O. mentored diva either.

As long as he doesn't fight with asst. coaches or former teammates in the locker room (T.O. did,  Brown's mentor)

So Brown got a new contract starting this season. Did PIT really just weasel their way out of a monster dead cap hit by tearing up his old contract and having him sign a new one?

Edit: Nevermind...just saw that they did have to eat it. I wonder if the NFL would even let you do that. Rip up the old contract, sign a new one with all guarantees in the form of Roster Bonuses and Base Salary...and then trade him.

No, not at all.  Steelers have a 21.1 million dead cap for AB. But they do get 1 million cap savings.  (AB would have cost 22.1 million against the cap being on the roster).

Yeah...I was just reading up on it. I have to think they tried to shift that signing bonus into gtd base salary...but Brown said no thanks.

Yes.  It truly is great news that one of the biggest, most self-centered pains in the backside has been signed elsewhere.

Hey, man, he fits the culture lol. The culture will be even stronger next year, which will take us past the Chiefs and Patriots.

Wooohoooo!!!

Now if Bell would just sign somewhere else, we can stop wasting bandwidth/everyone's time on all these "The Colts should trade for Bell/AB should" nonsense threads.

I wasn't too worried about Brown being a Colt.

He just seems to be the polar opposite of the type of players Ballard likes to bring in.

He's a diva who's in his 30's and wants a lot of money.  That's not Ballard's type of player.   I would have been shocked if Ballard had pulled the trigger on a trade for him.

Marlon Mack looks too promising and the other RBs for the Colts are too solid to spend buckets on any RB.

Apparently the Raiders have a strategy. Sign everyone named Brown!

Is Jon Gruden trying to coax Tim Brown out of retirement too?  :headspin:

    • I don't think they will stop him, but they'll definitely double him. Houston is good vs the run (best we've seen so far), so I'm sure they'll try to make JB throw as much as possible. They aren't great vs the pass, so this should be an opportunity for JB to quiet the doubters. I think 2 of their CBs are banged up too   Their rush D is better than both the Raiders and the Titans. Those two teams kept Mack at 51 and 39 yards.   I'd guess that Reich will install a game plan on O to spread it around, but I'm betting TY still gets his. It's going to be interesting on D for us. They are 4th in rushing yards per game, and 10th in passing yards per game. I think we may get gashed a bit. I don't see us playing man as much as last week.
    • They don't have to key on him as much with Brissett in the mix.  I don't think he'll hit Hilton in this game for the home-run or long-balls.  Different era of arm and mindset now that Luck's gone.
    • it all depends on what Frank decides to run on game day
    • It's also worth mentioning that Carolina has a top ten OL, while TB's OL is bottom 10.  I've never been a fan of Winston, but it's much easier being a QB for Car, and it's certainly nice to have a guy like McCaffrey to take the pressure off a backup.   Also, didn't Winston have like 5 INTs and 2 fumbles. Pretty hard to win with 7 turnovers. Very surprised Carolina didn't beat them by more. I think Winston's QBR was under 10.0 lol.
    • Now now this is a bit of a strawman. It's one game, in which both QBs were playing so they had a direct impact on each other's numbers. I mean it was hard in some ways for Allen to put up yards when his D kept gifting him great starting position.   To your wider comparison, Allen is a backup covering for a starter and they have a RB lighting it up. I'm not surprised they've kept it quite conservative. Even then, it's never been an O built on gaudy passing numbers.    Winston.. is when you've found out the answer to "is he the guy", but at least you won't die knowing. Has the arm, doesn't have the QB smarts IMO. I'd certainly rather have the latter than former if I had to choose one. But what's wrong with wanting both?    Again... and I will keep repeating this, why is it so wrong to want to see if Brissett is capable of slinging it when needed. Quite prepared to be patient, but also not going to ignore that he has some worrying shortcomings so far and it's not just his reluctance to push it deep. Progressions, locking onto receivers, a few misdiagnoses of defenses (overly critical of me I know). I'd almost be more forgiving if he was trying to make plays and making mistakes, but he's being very conservative and still making some fundamental errors. In a short span of games you'd live with it, but the hope is that he's going to be our guy for years right?
