He has such a cool story. Since he didn’t start playing until college his age doesnt concern me. He had a great year.

Good news!!!  He's made some big plays for us and is always a threat to block FG's.  Glad he was re-signed.

I know I'm being petty, but it's re-sign (with a hyphen)

It’s nice to see colt players congratulating him on this. Ebron and Kenny Moore tweeted that they are very happy for him.

So Hunt is back and we still have Autry for another 2 years. This makes me think the Colts are going to go after a developmental DT in the draft unless Wilkins falls. They also have said they would like to move Lewis to 3T on certain plays. Maybe they go after Dre’Mont and let him bulk up and learn to play the run. Or another guy I like is Wren. Needs to learn to use his hands, but likely has the same measurables and upside that Ballard saw in Turray.

Good to have Hunt back. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!!!

Hunt earned it.

In my off-season mock, I had Hunt re-signing for 2 Years/$8 Mil, so I think the actual contract is pretty good. He's a solid rotational DL and we have plenty of cap space to keep him for $9 Million over two years.

Whew! Glad to see that he was re-signed and didn't resign -- some here do struggle mightily with the English language. Hunt did some nice work last season, and he still has plenty of mileage left on his tires.

No,  it's not petty at all.     It's the English language.     The two words are spelled different and have completely different meanings.

Resign and Re-sign are NOT the same.    It's not just a minor issue.   They're completely different words.

Always good that you pointed that out!

Very, very pleased with this signing!

I hope we have 2-3 signing announcements every day this week!    We have lots of our own to re-sign before we start buying players in Free Agency.

Quite surprised about this, expected to but he played well early on in the season and fell off towards the end of the season.

We basically more than doubled his pay from last year and gave it a bit of a sweetner too.

$9 mill for 2 years with the possibility of an additional $1 Mill in bonuses!

Nicely done by all.

Just saw this on my Colts app.  Good to bring him back.

4.5 to 5 mil per year for 2 years is a good deal.

In sports, You always look to improve. Even if you win the Championship, you always find ways to add better quality players.

Yes. I always felt Hunt will be back before Woods, for the value he brought to Eberflus' D.

Good re-signing!!!

Pretty good value, especially if he continues to start on the d-line.

Very nice signing. Even if he is just a rotational player by the end of the contract if he keeps playing like he's played last two seasons, he will be more than worth his contract. You can never have enough good rotational linemen and Margus has established himself as one.

His play fell off a bit cause his assignment changed. Started year as DE, than DT. Woods went down he went to NT.

A draft pick for NT or a FA signing for NT is definitely coming, IMO.

I think Tillery makes a lot of sense because he can play 3tech or Al Woods Spot.   Grover Stewart and Tillery could rotate. Stewart was doing some good things at the end of the year playing for Al Woods.

Ballard continues practicing what he preaches. Reward your guys that perform. Hunt sets a tone for these young guys to follow. Great signing in my opinion, regardless of age.

So tell me, who do you want us to re-sign? I can't find more than Inman I want to keep of the rest.

Don't think Tillery is a NT.

He supposedly played this year at 305.      Showed up to the Combine at 295.    Don't think he's playing the NT in the NFL at those weights.    IMO,  he's a 3-tech all the way....

I think we should re-sign Desir for a couple more years. Gives Wilson a couple more years to mature and come into his own.

Now we need to lock up several more of our FA's... before they hit the market and drive up the price.  Then we will know our real cap space.  Resigning Hunt is a solid step.

I’m really surprised he is coming back I thought he was going to get some big bucks in free agency but I’m glad he’s staying

My biggest takeaway from this re-signing is him saying :

“The locker room that’s here and the people that Chris and coach has brought in, and the chemistry that we have now, it was something I didn’t want to change out for anything else."

This makes me think what the coaches have been saying is very much real and tangible.  Might be a player selling tool to other free agents like Collins.  Hooker is good friends with him, so maybe we really have a shot with him.

Hunt was a very solid piece to the D-line.  was top 20 in NFL in TFL's also.

I think it comes down to do you really want to leave a good situation for a couple million more bucks. When your already making millions is a couple more really a big deal. I personally would take less if I knew I was in a good situation and might have a chance to win a SB in the future. Hopefully we can get a couple FA with that same mentality and re-sign a couple of our own.

I am thrilled with this signing.    Great attitude and little risk for little money.    Nice job Ballard!

I wouldn't consider him a quality starter worthy of more than he got.
What was interesting to watch was his going from being used by the previous regime as a read and react DT (at times) and seeing him get run over.
Eber had him pounding the A gap all day long and he was good at it.
I hope he isn't the starter for long if at all, but knowing if we have injuries he can still be solid if he does get a bunch of snaps. Quality depth IMO.

    • Good article and I believe JB will be the starter in 2020 for at least the first half of the season.  But I do want to point out one thing, Player A keeps talking about how bad an ineffective the offense is this year.  Fans of player B talk about how great he is.
    • Luck and Hoyer would have never been on the roster together, so your "4th" is very creative lol...    And no, he wouldn't have been on the roster if Brissett didn't get hurt, but we wouldn't have traded for a 3rd string 3rd round guy either 2 years ago had Luck not got hurt. So what's your point.... Kelly was signed originally to likely stay on the PS for the year to prove he could behave, not come in and start or be the backup.   Bottom line, Kelly won a back up job in Denver because of his play, and lost it because of his behavior, not because of his play. He got a second chance with an NFL club here, and looked good in pre season, better than Brissett looked last year in pre season (the only clear comparables). So say whatever you want, but understand that all your criticism is pure opinion which is based on zero.   I get it, you like Brissett, but he's already lost a good majority of the fan base. Attendance has been impacted, and ticket sales will be impacted. It is what it is. His stats in just about every major category are below the median (21st QBR, 28th YPG, 23rd AVG), and even the INT stat that everyone keeps throwing out to say he's "good" is actually very very average if you look at INT/Attempt %. And this has been the case all year, not just since "injuries" happened. He's simply below average currently, with a ceiling of average.    As far as undercutting the QB... I've never said start Kelly. I said play him if Monday's game get out of hand. And honestly if they've already decided to draft a QB, undercutting him is irrelevant. The media, fans, and mocks are all trending towards the Colts drafting a QB, so things are only going to get tougher for the FO and JB when it comes to question. He's already took issue with the "audition" question, so pretty sure he's feeling the heat.    And lastly,,, the Colts made Kelly one of the highest paid PS players in the league. Why do that if he's a nothing. There are plenty of nothing QBs out there they could have paid the minimum. They could have simply kept Waker if that were the case. So assuming the FO does like him, and assuming he is keeping his nose clean, there is absolutely value in seeing what he can do in game situations, and especially if they've already decided that JB is not the future.
    • I am pretty high on him, too(maybe you meant my post in another thread ) he could even be available in the 3rd round. Sit him a year behind JB, let him learn and see what he's got. Could be a real value pick. At least, you will have a cheap backup and i think a 3rd round pick is worth the risk.
    • That is an angle that is possible.  And it makes some sense for Houston, not so much for Funchess.  Neither were considered Tier 1 FAs.  But again, is a possibility and one I had not considered fully before, thanks. I think the COlts reain his rights whether he gave the money back or not.  But @Superman knows more about that than I do. I'm not sure how thinking Luck quit is assuming the worst.   But oh well.
    • Baltimore Ravens :   Ray Lewis LB Ed Reed S Johnathan Ogden OT    Baltimore Colts :  Lenny Moore RB Gino Marchetti DE Jim Parker G John Mackey TE    Others : Ted Hendricks Baltimore Colts Super Bowl 5 Champion but mainly known as Raider.  Rod Woodson Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl 35 Champion but mainly known as Steeler.    Possible upcoming nominees:    Baltimore Colts :   Johnny Unitas QB Raymond Berry WR    We’ve been lucky to see some pretty darn good players pass through Baltimore.
