Would much rather have a DE Montez Sweat, DT Jeffrey Simmons, or CB Amani Oruwayie.

Sweat is a pipe dream at #26.

I seem to be in the minority that would be ok with this. I actually see it as likely too. He has room to grow but so does everyone in this part of the first round. Chris Jones was taken in the second round for the same reason as Dre'mont and sure looks like he should of been taken in the first.

We already have two like him. A goofy choice.

I want a 3 tech with some length and mass.  They are supposed to be quick, so I get the smaller lighter profile, but as you say, we already have two of those.  We wouldn't seem to have the roster space for another player of the same type.  Using expensive draft capital on redundancy.  JMO.

Thats a reach for the sake of getting a DL. If Wilkins and Tillery are gone then we should take Oruwayie

I really hope people stop mocking him to us!!

It seems to have become contagious.

Everybody's doing it the past few days.

I like Dre'Mont, but I feel like we have a guy exactly like him in Jihad Ward. I still feel he was our best pass rusher from the interior of the line, and he wasn't bad against the run.

Unless someone unexpectedly drops, I don't see the Colts going DL in the 1st.

Really like Jones and he's one of the few interior d-line prospects that are impossible to defend 1v1 as a guard and we did a great job last year with giving our guys 1v1 matchups using pre-snap movement. He would be a tremendous fit and we would get a step closer to becoming 2017 ohio state pro edition.

I think Dre'Mont Jones has the opportunity to be really special, and have advocated the Colts taking him. Saying that he offers a skillset that certain players on the roster already possess shouldn't matter, but moreso how well/elite he will be able to demonstrate said skills at the next level.

Example: A baseball team has a guy that hit 17 HRs, and is looking to acquire/draft a guy that has a fairly decent chance of hitting 30-40 HRs...should you not take the guy because you already have a guy on the roster that represents that skillset, in a mediocre way at best, or try and attain elite level production?

A lot of folks have us picking Dre'Mont Jones at 26.  And I wouldn't be unhappy if we did.  Although I'm not totally sold yet.  Yes, he has good burst.  And he had 8.5 sacks in the one year he was a starter.  It seems he's not as tough against the run.  So, what does he add to our team?  Is he quicker than Lewis?  Stronger than Hunt?  Younger than Woods?  Dunno.  I like him.  But I don't know if he has that "it" factor that Leonard brings.  Although do you think we can get that lucky, and get an "it" factor player that late in the draft two years in a row?  Or should we simply be glad we have access to a player that simply brings "upside"?  We'll see.

Seems to be the popular pick. But it’s been said before that he can’t play the run. With that said, he’d be a situational player with that skill set. That’s not worth a late 1st round pick. I have my reservations about him, but I’d much rather have Tillery at that pick if the assumption is Wilkins will be gone. He’s a more complete player.

An interesting tidbit on Jones that I just found out is that he started out as an edge rusher. I think this past season was his first season playing on the interior. That could explain why he isn’t good against the run and pass rushing is his strength.

It also begs the question of if he’s only a DPR or he just needs more time playing DT to become a complete player.

I like the pick. Add another top DT3 or DT5 at 34 might help Turay or Lewis on the edge...DT depth is just as valuable as offensive line depth.

He never got time as an edge player because of a good, literally, handful of other guys playing there and the interior has been stacked at OSU the last 3 years, so last year was really his first chance at starting. He's still extremely raw, and who knows, he could come right in and light it up, but there are a ton of guys in the league with his athleticism that don't/won't make it.
