I hear ya.... I get that there’s a “heat of the moment” family element to this particular incident.... I just feel like we need to err on the side of caution with guys who have assaulted women.

 

Had he simply kept his cool, marshaled some help and broken up the fight... then I’d have no problem whatsoever with Ballard selecting him in Round 2.

He didnt just assault her, he BEAT her while she was already on the ground.

 

I dont care what his "reason" was. Bad people are good at justifying their actions. And we are not that desperate. There are too many good choices to blow it on a person like that.

Got to trust Ballard on this one.  I'm sure they have done their homework.   Considering Ballards history with troubled players and the facts of Simmons case I would tend to think there would be a higher chance of us drafting him than not.

Both are bad situations, I judge both situations by what I would have done or felt compelled to do. In Mixons case if i was to sit there getting yelled at slapped repeatedly and then spit on that one is hard for me, however highly my morals are, to believe I wouldn't have done the same. Simmons case I understand the bases but in no way am I going to continue to hit someone on the ground when they no longer pose a threat female of male. When a woman steps up acting like a man is when IMO she loses the excuse of being a woman.

Ballard has never drafted anyone with character concerns. People try and use Marcus Peters and Tyreek Hill as examples all the time, but he didn’t draft them. The Chiefs GM (I believe it was Dorsey at the time) drafted those players. Ballard scouted them and vetted their past, but he wasn’t the decision maker. As the Colts GM he hasn’t drafted anyone with legitimate character concerns. Cain had a suspension in college but also fell because of on the field concerns.

 

This whole thing about Ballard having a history with troubled players is just as exaggerated as the talk about how he never drafted a WR in the 1st in his career.

The biggest on field concern for Cain was his propensity for concentration drops.

Questionable hands and he failed to put up bi numbers after Mike Williams left. That could be attributed to QB play though because Kelly Bryant sucked.
