Colts have 4 first rounders in CBS Sports re-draft.

Recommended Posts

Nelson.

Leonard.

Smith.

Turay (surprising).

Good to see the recognition.

They have a couple of curious picks in that re-draft.

Seems like the purpose of this article was to have Barkley conveniently fall to NE. He even put it in the headline.

I think the NE/Barkley thing was for clickbait.

Judging by the article, this guy seems like an Oklahomer...or a misguided Ravens fan. He has Orlando Brown ahead of McGlinchey somehow...and then has Mark Andrews in the middle of the 1st round. Both played at Oklahoma and both are current Ravens.

Not sure Smith's play would push him to the first round.

Turay is interesting. . . he was getting pressure and sacks but he stopped seeing snaps.

Leonard and Nelson for sure would be first rounders if the draft was done over.

Saquon Barkley going 23rd is the stupidest thing I've ever seen and totally invalidated the entire list.  Guy won Offensive rookie of the year with over 2000 yards from scrimmage and this list has hi at 23...  Every team in the league would take Barkley right now and that includes the Rams and Cowboys who both already have a dynamic back like him...

Turays decreasing role was surprising tho i assumed others were better at run stopping which seemed to be priority one on defense.  Curious tho.

I know the talk was we were facing more run heavy teams. Plus there is a rookie wall and he really didnt get a ton of snaps in college so maybe they are trying to slowly work him up? :dunno:

Turay will be a bit surprise in the next couple of seasons.

He was raw when he was drafted, think he's going to be a stud.

ROTFlmao...Barkley going at 23rd.

Not even Charles Barkley would go that late at his age.

I think he'd go in the 1st round if the draft was done again.   A starting O-line player who can play guard or tackle would be sought after.

What happened with Ballard's first draft which was mediocre

at best and last year's draft which was one of the best ever for

the franchise?

Was it trying to find players to fit Pagano's system, poor scouts

or was last draft a lucky fluke?

Ballard's first draft injuries ended up than main reason you call it mediocre.

Not sure what you are trying to accomplish here, but his first draft was solid, and the last draft was obviously a great success, not like anyone expects that every year...

2017 - Rd. 1 Starting FS, talented, injury issues.....

Rd. 2 Enigmatic CB, they sometimes take time to develop, on track to                    start, this year, 3rd corner probable worst case scenario....

            Rd. 3 - Miss

            Rd. 4 - Miss

Rd. 4 - Starting RB in 2nd year, nearly 1k in RBC....

Rd. 4 - Rotational DT in 2nd yr, solid backup with potential

Rd. 5 - solid nickel CB as rookie, Dime/depth CB in 2nd yr.

Rd. 5 - Solid starting MLB by 2nd yr, talked about as "QB" of D by                            coaches and DROY teammate and others

That's not mediocre, it's not great, but is slightly above average, with room for improvement as it ages....

I too was puzzled at calling Ballard's 1st draft mediocre.

Anytime you can draft 8 players and 6 of them either start or contribute is a very successful draft.

    • Maybe Denver or Washington due to cap space. I'm hoping we get a player in return if he ends up going anywhere. I wouldn't complain about getting a pick either.    I can get behind this but not just for DeAndre Baker maybe a pass rusher or interior D-line will fall.
    • If DeAndre Baker falls past Denver, I wouldn't mind trading pick #26 and Brissett to the Dolphins in order to acquire him. That would be a deal both teams might agree to if the Dolphins are indeed interested.
    • He's my favorite FA or even early round pickup at WR this offseason
    • I laughed when seeing "QB" listed as a team need on OnTheClock 2019.  That being said, I have to wonder if it's worth taking a flyer on a QB like Kyle Shurmur and either deal him or Brissett going forward.
    • Having faith without knowing why is "blind faith". At least when I supported certain picks that Grigson chose (like Dorsett), it was because I thought they were good and I was wrong. It wasn't because Grigson was our GM and I felt an obligation that I had to "follow" his every move. He did have 3 straight winning years and advanced further each time, but it became apparent by the end of 2014 that his drafting and FA signings were poor (besides the early part of the 2012 draft), and Luck was carrying the team. Luck got hurt afterward, but it's not like Grigson's drafting or FA signings got better. We were a team carried by Luck and the previous regimes players from 2012-2016. I didn't notice it completely until after the Pats AFC Championship game where we were completely outmatched, but I did notice poor patterns before that (especially missing on 1st round picks).   I'm just saying that the people who say that Ballard knows more than other "armchair GM's" would also say the same about Grigson, so they were merely guessing and were right on Ballard just like they were wrong about Grigson with "blind faith". I don't know, that line just bugs me a lot. Most people who say that also don't predict ahead of time who is good and who isn't, they are extremists in an either positive or negative way, and both are poor viewpoints IMO. Ok, rant over!
