I don't think saints would've shut down Brady though either...

Now for the media to give complete credit to Brady for this game.

If that was Peyton out there, he'd be completely ripped a new one and we'd have to hear how he didn't deserve the ring/his team carried him.

Brady played awful, and his age is showing. This win was all about Belichick and his defense.

But it will still be about Brady. Brady being the goat narrative is disgusting.

I did not watch 1 second of this Super Bowl. Glad I did not. Pats win again.      :scorebad:

It's also amazing that the Patriots and their fanbase can still somehow play victim after all these years of success as well.

I agree.  And Goff was off his game too!

I really wish we could have seen Brees and Mahomes. It would have been a much more exciting game. This was the worst SB ever!

So two of Brady's rings were won by Vinatieri. Two of them were won with their opponents not running the ball to close out the game. One was with a QB puking on the field, and another was with his opponent playing outright terrible.

So excuse me for not calling him the GOAT.

Josh Gordon is thinking when he gets his ring, "Man, what an easy game! I gotta do drugs more often!"

Combine the fact everyone is so sick of New England with the most boring Super Bowl ever....

Crappy ending to this season.

Julian Edelman is MVP. That guy is a big time performer. When push came to shove though, Brady drove them down for the GW drive. Patriots deserved it

2020 will feature

Alabama in the title game

Patriots in the Superbowl

Red Sox in the world series

LeBron in the finals

Some would call those BOLD predictions... But they aren't lol

McVea needs to thank Wade Phillips BIG time. Wade was the reason New England suffered.

If LeBron was still in Cleveland we'd have another Cavs/Warriors Finals.

And they were calling McVay the new hoodie, not so fast there.

Hoody had Goff looking like Peyton circa 03' back there. Shook and unsure of himself.

Yes I did end up watching. It was a very boring game. Neither QB looked good.

It's very strange.  New England won three Super Bowls last decade and three this decade, yet neither team is looked at as a dominant team... like the Steel Curtain, 49ers or 90's Cowboys.  It's more about Brady, Belichick and the system.  The times they were dominant - 2007, 2010(I think) - they didn't win anything.

I shut the game off after the missed FG. Did they hand out the MVP yet?

Has to be Edelman or Gilmore IMO. Brady winning it would be an outright joke.

And they only lost one of them because of a miracle catch.

They just stay winning. I'm not a tin foil conspiracy guy, but wth? Nobody can kill these guys already.

It's tradition to give it to the guy who was suspended for cheating in that given year.

Has to be Edelman.

They got it back though.  Look at how lucky they got against Seattle and Atlanta with Bevel's and Shannahan's stupidity.

    • JB's cap hit for this year is 21.3 Million.  7 million is in a guaranteed roster bonus.  5.5 million is in a pro-rated signing bonus.   Therefore he has a 12.5 Million dead cap hit but would save 8.875 million against the cap if cut.   It does not matter if he is cut pre or post June 1.  That only matters for players who have more years on their contract after this year.     I don't know what the plan is to be honest.  He's a lot of money for a backup, but at the same time 12.5 Million is a sunk cost anyways so think about it like you are paying 8.875 million for an experienced backup who's familiar with the players, coaches, and playbook.  Still a little pricey but I believe Foles got like 7M to be the backup in Philly and that really paid off for them.  So it wouldn't surprise me if Reich viewed it in a similar light and was willing to part with a few mil in extra cap space in order to have a good plan B.   The other thing is that it could be that he's staying on the roster until we draft a QB.  (Because we might need him if the draft doesn't work out to us getting a QB.)
    • Murchison...Elliott...DT3
    • Kevin Costner and the Browns anxiously await the Vikings with two cards in hand. Will the Vikes take one of them making the decision for them? ....
    • I wouldn't say I'm obsessing over him but he's no ordinary 3rd string QB and I think it undercuts your argument to act like he is.  He has a great amount of physical talent.  More than one draft source said his arm talent was comparable to the top end of the draft.  (A draft which included Watson and Mahomes)   The negatives on him where size, reads, and character/maturity      Size you can't do anything about but there are several players whom it has not stopped.   Reads can be learned and worked on.   Character/maturity was the biggest thing that held him back.  And it should be noted that character means more when to comes to QB than any other position.  And that is a big reason that Kelly found himself out of the NFL for a while.     The idea being that IF Kelly has grown up he likely has the physical talent to be a franchise QB.  Does that mean he necessarily will?  No.  We can't even say for sure that he has grown up, only time will tell.     I don't know if Kelly is the answer.  But at the same time I think it's off to pretend like he's an ordinary 3rd string/backup.
