I guess maybe it's difficult -- as a 40+ year old Patriots fan -- for me to relate, but I can't imagine missing a Super Bowl. I've watched every single one of them since I was a child. I'm a fan of the Patriots, yes, but I'm a fan of football itself, so the idea of missing this game is something I can't get my head around.

This year, I will be in Hawaii with the family for the big game. Nice that it'll kick off at like 1:30 pm there instead of later in the day! And if they lose, I've got five days on Oahu to feel sorry for myself, lol...

Whether you end up watching or not, I hope you all enjoy your Sunday.

Not watching the SB last year worked out well for me: Sure, I missed an epic FlEaKing game but flack: Pats lost.

So, same game plan this year: Play with the kiddo til he goes to bed. Break out the wine for wifey, then play with the wife. Stay in bed and watch How I met your Mother, play again, and check twitter at about 11pm to see how much shenangians I'll get to post on Reddit or ignore it completely

Ayyyyeee That's pretty sweet, and nice consolation for a loss if it turns out that way.. I lived in Alaska for the 2004 version of Pats vs Eagles. And having the Superbowl played at 2:30 was freaking weird but pretty nice. I'll be dead come Monday morning on the east coast.

But to answer the original question, I'll be watching... It's like watching a train wreck.. it'll come down to the final few mins.. I was gonna say the Rams will probably score too quickly in the end. But I think Todd Gurley has given up multiple touchdowns this year just to churn clock

Meh who am I kidding?!.. Its the Patriots! Gurley will try to kneel but fall forward into the endzone leaving the Patriots too much time to score. Julian Eldeman will be completely ungaurdable the final drive, catching the ball with 7 yards of separation between defenders. James White will catch a pass for -2 yards in the backfield and scurry past a slow * defender for a first. Gronk will go up one on one verse Jesus and catch the pass that's throw into the defenders back. And Sony will cap it off his a little 4 yard TD run right at Donald just because they can. The End.

But I'm still going to watch..because ya know. I'm insane.

Go Rams.

I don't get the Romo hate. He's actually dead-on with most of his commentary. When you look at the alternatives/competition (Phil Simms, Troy Aikman, Dan Fouts, etc-etc) I don't think anyone does it better than Romo.

They are anti-Romo b/c Romo recognizes that he is watching "greatness" which will never be replicated in our lifetimes on an NFL field.

Well you're jealous because if TB wore horseshoes on his helmet you would be posting every single day. You know I'm right. Either respect talent or whine and cry. Remember, TB's accomplishments will be talked about every year after we have all been put to rest. No one has to like it but to discredit it is comical and pathetic.

Your joking, right?

One thing you forgot. Brady's career will always have cheating or breaking the rules next to his name.

I can respect his talent but the Patriots as an organization has been fined and have had more draft picks taken away that any other team in the NFL.  That is a fact you can't argue with.

Yeah, I doubt that will be mentioned when he glides in to the HoF. Odd, we don't hear your claim of cheating nearly as often as his remarkable achievements. Here's one thing you cannot deny, he just got caught and that is the difference. Anyone and everyone knows football players cheat on nearly every play of every game.

I have always wondered what it is like to be a Pats fan in that how do you all handle it when the Pats come up short in a playoff or upper Bowl? Here in Houston and other cities the local radio talk shows and medias + and moan and whine every year when their teams fail to meet expectations. How do the fans react when the Pats don't make it all the way? How can anyone criticize them with their record being what it is?

Of course I’ll be watching the SB. It’s the SB. A true football fan wouldn’t miss any SB. Do I expect Brady to win a 6th championship? Yes I do

or you can record it, and if you hear the Patriots won, it's time not loss, and If the Rams win then watch the recording.

Oh lighten up. Old time football fans have their opinions, since they have watched a lot of decades of the NFL, So learn from their experience. It's alright for us to be cynical, Times has changed over the years, but your perspective  is based on what you know as a fan.

Look, sometimes there are things going on in your life that take priority over the NFL. Because I would rather be doing something else like spending time with my great grand kids or spending the day with on old friend.

That does not make me any less a fan that you.

Now, do you get my drift?

I never remember not watching the Pats.  My father and I used to go in to Schaefer Stadium.  Pats never won much.  Still a great day.  When I started driving, the local sports media was a lot less cynical.  You would probably call them Fanboys.  Great seasons didn't always end in a championship...in fact, they never did back then.  I don't listen to sports radio much these days.

I will go to my sister's house for the Big Game.  We do every year.  There will be twenty or more people there.  Maybe three of four will be watching the game.  More will flock to the television to watch the commercials.  I don't get that.

I don't live and die by any entertainment.  Not since 1986, anyway.  I'll watch the game, for the most part, eating, drinking, and socializing.  Unless the game is close, I'll head home at halftime.  Tomorrow, it's off to work.  Probably will not hear one word about the game, the ads, or the Patriots.

    • NFL.com's Profile   Draft Grade: 5.30 NFL BACKUP OR SPECIAL TEAMS POTENTIAL Draft Projection: Round 5 College: Mich St Position: S Height: 5-11 Weight: 213 40 Time: 4.52     BIO: Willis was named the Ann Arbor News Michigan High School Player of the Year in 2014 as a running back after he covered nearly 3,000 yards on the ground and scored 31 touchdowns. He didn't end up at Ann Arbor for college, signing with Sparty. Willis started 3 of 9 games played as a true freshman (11 tackles), but his season ended before the Big Ten Championship Game due to a broken foot. He started one game in 2016, making 30 tackles in 11 contests overall. An opening occurred in MSU's secondary for 2017, and Willis took advantage. He garnered honorable mention All-Big Ten honors that season, accumulating 71 tackles, 5.5 for loss, four sacks, two interceptions, and three pass breakups. He repeated his honorable mention all-conference performance as a senior, posting 84 tackles, two interceptions, and 10 pass breakups in 13 starts for the Spartans.   Overview: Team leader known for his leadership and work ethic, Willis has been a reliable performer with a good nose for the football. However, he's an average athlete with below-average speed who needs to keep plays in front of him, so finding a roster spot on the next level could be a challenge. His high football character and consistent effort level, give him a shot at finding work as a backup with special teams value .   Strengths: Praised for exceptional character Good size with compact build and desired play strength Plays with consistent motor and effort all game long Runs the alley with accurate map to the ball carrier Reliable and plays under control Reads quarterback's eyes for early indicators in coverage Sees the entire field from deep safety Handled some slot cover duties in sub-packages Good awareness from short zone and responds quickly to throws   Weaknesses: Below-average athlete lacking explosiveness Top-end speed is a concern Struggles to range over the top from deep zone Slow to open hips and sprint with early speed Tight strider with below-average burst to close Limited lateral agility to maintain man coverage Very modest ball production
    • 1. Again that is how people view QBs rather that is fair or not   2. Im referring more from a talent perspective   3. Its more to justify Luck as a talent.
    • I like that there's evidently a clear plan for developing and using him, and I think that's true for everyone they added this year. We'll see how it plays out, but I expect that they'll be trying to put guys in position to excel, not trying to force them to do something they aren't good at.   I think this shows with the Funchess signing. Definitely not my favorite acquisition, and I wanted them to go in a different direction, but Warren Sharp posted splits showing how Funchess performed on certain routes, and compared it with how Luck produces when throwing to those routes. It seems like an ideal match for our offense, and I think the front office and coaching staff identified that together, and went out and got him. I don't think they'll ask him to be a downfield burner, I think they're going to use him on curls, outs, and maybe slants, and I think it's going to add a dimension to the offense, especially on big downs when defenses play tight man coverage.    If they took a similar approach with the players they drafted -- what's the plan for this guy on our team, and how do we develop his traits so that he can excel in this role? -- it will show in the way they use them right away. Tell, Campbell, Willis, Banogu... all have traits that can be tapped into right away.
    • So I'm a little confused now. Are you basing your views on the roster that the QB is playing with instead of the QB himself? I don't see how you can say the AFC championship game on only had "3 great players."    If you ask me has Luck done more with less then some other QB's then that answer is 100% yes. But your question is How do you view Andrew without a championship?       Not how Andrew Luck will be viewed because he doesn't have great teams around him.
    • 1. If my aunt had a set, she'd be my uncle.  Marino didn't win 6 so who cares?   2. The larger point is I am lost on your arm talent argument.  Who cares who had the best arm?  That is only one small component of what makes an elite level QB.  Greg Maddux is a HoF pitcher and he had not close to the velocity of Kyle Farnsworth, who can only get into the HoF if he bought a ticket.  In an NFL comparison, Joe Montana did not have near the arm that Marino or Elway did but he is clearly among the best QB's ever to play the game. 3. I don't care about the Colts 2014 roster.  I know who was on the team and I don't think they would have been a good match up for the 1970 Steelers. I am simply saying that you don't really know if it was the worst roster to make the AFCCG in history.  It's over an over the top argument simply made to prove a point you can't make otherwise.
