Todd McShay's Top 32 for the 2019 NFL Draft

Recommended Posts

Interesting that McShay has Murray as his second best QB.  He also has Simmons a lot higher than other rankings I have seen.

Johnathan Abram is my guy. I think the Colts would have to do some maneuvering to get an Edge player. The only ones likely to be in their range are guys like Ferguson or Ximenes and I'm not overly high on them.

Got my eyes on Tillery and Abram.  Taking them 1-2 would be perfection...

I think when it comes to Simmons, Mcshay is the 1st analyst to rank him without weighing the off the field concerns. The tape supports the ranking.

That could be.  I thought that Simmons should be ranked higher than what the others had said, but I am not really familiar with any of his off the field issues.

Video of him in high school (his senior year) getting involved in a street fight between one of his family members and another women. In the video you see him throwing a bunch of punches. I’ll post the video

Simmons would be great, or Montez Sweat. With the ridiculous amount of DL talent, and the abundance of teams willing to bite on way-overvalued QBs, surely one will fall to 26? Would allow us to snag a pretty solid WR with our 1st in the 2nd, or even possibly land the CB from Penn State (can't pronounce/spell his name lol). It's gonna be one of the more entertaining offseasons, as a whole, in recent memory.

A lot of those guys are gonna fall according to basically every mock I've seen. Most mocks have 3-4 QBs going in the first and multiple WRs, that should push one of the DL/OLB prospects down to 26 hopefully. As an avid Irish fan, Jerry Tillery is an absolute animal. He reminds me of Q Nelson in that he just doesn't stop, he has an insane push/motor. Would be a great addition, imo.

PFF has Simmons pretty high too. Palazzolo just released a mock draft and had him picked in the teens too. The thing with Simmons will be his off-the-field incident. The question is how much weight teams and the league will put on it. Otherwise he's a great prospect on the field.

BTW... can you guys guess who of the interior linemen in this draft PFF has the highest pass-rush grade for? It's not Quinnen... it's not Oliver... it's not any of the Clemson duo... it's not Simmons... it's actually Jerry Tillery.

I can see Noah Fant to the Patriots if Gronk retires???

I can see all-business BB drafting Fant anyway and forcing Gronk's decision.

    • Maybe Denver or Washington due to cap space. I'm hoping we get a player in return if he ends up going anywhere. I wouldn't complain about getting a pick either.    I can get behind this but not just for DeAndre Baker maybe a pass rusher or interior D-line will fall.
    • If DeAndre Baker falls past Denver, I wouldn't mind trading pick #26 and Brissett to the Dolphins in order to acquire him. That would be a deal both teams might agree to if the Dolphins are indeed interested.
    • He's my favorite FA or even early round pickup at WR this offseason
    • I laughed when seeing "QB" listed as a team need on OnTheClock 2019.  That being said, I have to wonder if it's worth taking a flyer on a QB like Kyle Shurmur and either deal him or Brissett going forward.
    • Having faith without knowing why is "blind faith". At least when I supported certain picks that Grigson chose (like Dorsett), it was because I thought they were good and I was wrong. It wasn't because Grigson was our GM and I felt an obligation that I had to "follow" his every move. He did have 3 straight winning years and advanced further each time, but it became apparent by the end of 2014 that his drafting and FA signings were poor (besides the early part of the 2012 draft), and Luck was carrying the team. Luck got hurt afterward, but it's not like Grigson's drafting or FA signings got better. We were a team carried by Luck and the previous regimes players from 2012-2016. I didn't notice it completely until after the Pats AFC Championship game where we were completely outmatched, but I did notice poor patterns before that (especially missing on 1st round picks).   I'm just saying that the people who say that Ballard knows more than other "armchair GM's" would also say the same about Grigson, so they were merely guessing and were right on Ballard just like they were wrong about Grigson with "blind faith". I don't know, that line just bugs me a lot. Most people who say that also don't predict ahead of time who is good and who isn't, they are extremists in an either positive or negative way, and both are poor viewpoints IMO. Ok, rant over!
