Andrew’s poor short throws

Disconcerting for sure, but the Colts did not have any downfield weapons by the end of the season.  TY on one leg in not a deep threat, and who else did we have?  Inman stepped up, but he is not a deep threat.  I think the play of the game was the first play, when Mack got stopped for a 3 yd loss.  We go 3 and out, and the whole offense was stunned and never recovered. We do much better when we go no huddle, I would hope to see more of that next year.

And change his arm angle like Stafford, Mahomes, and Rivers do.

Very odd how someone as smart as Luck continues to make the same mistakes over and over.

When you hear him interviewed he never really says anything.  Just "respect the process, get better, work all week blah blah blah".

Yet I am still seeing him not progress to the level he should be at.

Hopefully this off season he can strengthen the shoulder and make some real progress.

I'm sorry,  but is there an emoji symbolizing throwing up in your mouth?!?

Just asking everyone....    suddenly,  I'm in need of one.....

Dear God....

I think Luck's career is over.

I look for Brissett to be the starter in 2019 and beyond.

Did you somehow forget the Sarcasm emoji?!?     And that you were kidding?

Please say yes!      Please say yes!     Please say yes!     Please say yes!

Please?!?

I actually wanted to start a similar thread about the batted balls he has had lately. I am not a QB expert but it seems like the rate in which it has been happening the last couple of games or so is high for a QB of Luck's size and this o-line. I could understand Wilson, Brees, or Mayfield having a high rate of batted balls but Luck? Is there something wrong with his throwing motion? Like a longer motion or a slower release? Or is it a vision problem?

1 week ago: Luck is back!  Future MVP candidate, looking better than his old self, gonna take over the league

Has 1 bad game: Luck's career is over and he has a noodle arm.

I understand that Luck had a bad game and the frustration that comes with that, but to call his arm strength or even his career into question after one bad game is complete nonsense.  With a full offseason coming up, I think it's very realistic to expect Luck to have a great season next year.

I thought it was the Ebron drop.

Sorry the joke wasn’t caught.

In in a nutshell don’t believe Whitlock discussing anything Colts related.

Tom House is the throwing specialist Luck worked with.  Those concerned should contact Tom to share your insight.  Together you should be able to get Luck up to NFL caliber.  If that doesn’t help, we can always get in line behind all the other NFL teams searching for a franchise QB that can lead an incomplete roster into the post season.

He’s an athlete who is majorly successful with his own company and his wife is also very talented.

I think the Colts should hire the husband and wife team cause they will fix all problems cause they know everything.

Don't forget, she doesn't know much about football, either.  An elite authority on Luck's projecting Luck's health and viability going forward.

Historically, Luck's stats and passer rating for balls thrown at or behind the line of scrimmage are notoriously bad. His footwork is bad and struggles at off-platform throws.

Last i checked, every single pass is thrown from at or behind the line of scrimmage... it is a penalty, otherwise!

I agree with this in general. We've seen the tides turn really fast on this forum.

It was the degree to which Luck stunk in that playoff game that bothered me. He wasn't just bad, he stunk. He was SO bad.

Of course, it wasn't just Luck. It was also the receivers, TE, O-line. All of their sub-par play resulted in a horrible game by Luck. And when Luck didn't have 5 batted balls at the line, and he finally threw a pass, the receivers dropped it or ran horrible routes, or Luck short-hopped 5-yard passes.

It was bad all around, and we've seen this before in years past. But the difference was that Luck was able to rise above it and lead comebacks. This week however, he seemed to be part of the problem and not a  part of the solution.

I don't think it means anything in the long run. Luck is fine. But it was a horrible way to end a fairy tale season, as if we got the alternative version of how this was supposed to end. It was like if Cinderella's evil stepmother cut off her feet and she never got to try on those glass slippers.

no, i dont know what you mean lol your complaint/observation was that something must be wrong because all of his passes are thrown at or behind the line of scrimmage... or did you mean to say that is as far as he can throw it? in which case, you must be joking.

Luck didn't play well, but he was far from alone on that. The receiving group had some drops and struggled to get open all day. The O-line did so-so, not as good as usual. Luck had a down day but Eric Ebron, Braden Smith, and AV also had down days. Aside from AV (who might retire at this point) I don't think it'll be a problem for any of those guys moving forward

No, what I was saying it when you look at his stats on his throws in yardage tiers he has always had a lower passer rating on passes thrown 0-5 yards downfield and behind the LOS (i.e. a screen pass). He was third in the league in rating and % on passes thrown 20+ yards downfield. Historically, the short pass his his worst by rating. Make sense?

Here are the statistical breakdowns, (splits), per ESPN stats. If you scroll down to Air Yards, you'll see that Luck is actually fine throwing behind the LOS and within 1-10 yards of the LOS.

I stand corrected, I saw a much different stat on Twitter before the game. Shouldn't ever listen to twitter I guess.

No worries.

I even went back and looked at his 2016, 2015, 2014 stats and they were similar. I felt that you were correct, but the stats clearly state otherwise. Overall, Luck is a very good QB. He just had a really bad game this past weekend.

Yeah, I think with those quick throws out to the flat, he sometimes does not set his feet and will sometimes hop it. Especially if it's across his body to the left. I do not think it is a strength thing at all but a footwork one.

I realize that he will finish very high in the MVP voting and then diced up Houston with ease 9 days ago.

But, the fact of the matter is that he crouched when he threw this week, had some passes batted down, and shorthopped a few others.

That is more than enough for me to conclude his career is over and it's time to move on to Brissett.  I just hope Ballard, House and everyone else are as aware as we are on this message board.

OL didn't play well, receivers weren't getting open, and Luck didn't play well.  Lots of things went wrong.  But let's not go crazy and say his career is over and Brissett is our future starter.  He hasn't been great in outdoor playoff games, but I don't think his stats in those games are truly indicative of his abilities
