Philadelphia (+8) at New Orleans (1-13-19)

Recommended Posts

4:40 EST.  Kevin Burkhardt, Charles Davis and Pam Oliver on FOX

over-under at 51 inside the New Orleans SuperDome

'Old St' Nick Foles had a very average game last week but pulled it out with a final drive and a game-winning TD pass to Golden Tate.

TE Zach Ertz (116 catcehs, 1,163 yards, 8 TDs) and Mr. slow motion WR Alshon Jeffrey ((65 caches, 843 yards) will be looking for their share against a New Orleans defense that has 44 sacks but only 12 interceptions.

The Eagles have rushed for only 1,570 yards this season, not even 100 a game.

Saints QB Drew 'King Creole' Brees (364 of 489, 3,992 yards, 32 TDs, 5 INTs) leads a NOLA attack which slippedsa bit in the last 5 games (95 points)  but gained 6,000 yards during the 16-game regular season. You can read into Brees' season whatever you want. His 3,992 yards passing was the lowest total for him in 13 years. His 74% completion percentage is his career high.

All-NFL WR Michael Thomas (125 catches, 1,405 yards) has a lot of yards but Alvin Komara ran for 883 yards and caught passes for 709 yards

But the Eagles defense has some rough riders led by veteran Fletcher Cox (10.5 sacks) In their last two games they shut out Washington and held the Bears to 15 points, both games on the road.

    I'll be brief.

'Foles magic' reminds me of 'Fitz-magic' and it will end in an equally non-mystical way

The Eagles allowed more total yards than they gained during the regular season. No one still playing did that.

Philadelphia is slower than life and their secondary couldnt stop the Saints with a court order.

The previous meeting was 48-7 eight weeks ago and even if the Eagles are 20 points better they lose big.

Magic' in the NFL is when the other team folds up in key moments.

That's not happening Sunday

Take the Saints and give the 8 points.

I am stunned. But you know they are the SB champs so maybe we should give them more credit.

The colts could use a receiver like the eagles have where he can jump up and grab it like that.

When all the home teams win, some road team has to make it interesting. Dungy picked Rams vs Eagles.

I know a Saints/Brees hater that’s going to chime in soon. :)

Let’s see if Brees is like Brady, who overcame 2 14  point deficit like Brady vs Ravens in the 2014 divisional round.

Dumb decision to decline holding penalty by Eagles, led to fake punt by Sean Payton on 4th and 1

That's disgusting. You cannot give up a fake punt or 4th down conversions in the playoffs, much less on THE SAME DRIVE.

Come one, Eagles, get it together!

I don’t think anyone would of thought they would try that in relation to where they were on the field. They miss that and it’s 21 for the eagles.

14-10 at the half....good comeback

again,. it helps when you are at home

I swear - Peyton could have done this in 2005, down 0-14 vs Steelers, and he’d have 2 SBs with the Colts. Cannot play scared and not to lose st home in the playoffs. The first time he woke up and made a comeback 3-21 in the 2006 AFCCG, we won it all. We’ll see if Brees can finish the job now.

This is exactly what Sean Payton does, though. I cannot understand why teams aren’t ready for it.

As soon as they declined it, I had the same weird feeling like before the SB post half time. I was shouting during my SB party “watch for the onside kick” and the rest is history. That’s why I didn’t have a problem with Reich going for it in the first Texans game. It’s truly a mindset thing, not an Xs and Os thing

I was at this game. They couldn't pass block the Steelers with 7 blockers. Oh and Nick Harper!

I really don't understand the backup QB thing the Saints do.

I'd want Brees out there every play.

Especially when No.7 (their gadget  play guy) is in there as a 'punt protector'

Lol did the eagles D go home after the 1st quarter? They have been abused the offense went home with them. The eagles should be blowing them out the way they started but the O just died.

Who is doing color on the broadcast?  Jefferies literally pulled Latimore down and he said there was no penalty.

What does broadcast have to do with refs not calling it on the field? They did show and mention Jeffrey pulling down Lattimore, refs blew it.

I saying that the color guy was being ridiculous when he stated that there was "no penalty there".  Obviously the refs missed the call, why would the color guy say something that was so blatantly false?

He said there was no penalty “called” there, not that there was no penalty there, that’s what I got from what he said. Subtle difference but relevant to your misunderstanding, and they backed it up with the replay.

I rewound it to make sure I was correct and I was.  He said "there was no penalty there at all", not no penalty called.

Now back to my question, who is the color guy on the broadcast?

Dide, I know what he said but what I’m saying is that’s not what he meant. Sometimes when you have to comment fast, you can omit a key word that can change what you meant. At least that’s what I gathered. Anyways that play is done, I’ve explained myself enough.

Its Charles Davis

    • This mock has finally done it, it was inevitable, like Thanos. Joe Burrow mocked #1 overall. This mock has 4 QB's going before the Colts selection at #17 overall...Burrow, Tua, Herbert, and Hurts. The Colts take DT Derrick Brown from Auburn, which I really like actually, the kid is the best Interior Defensive Lineman in this draft class. He's a game wrecker in the middle, not quite Aaron Donald level, but not many are. Anyways, the fact that there weren't any other QBs taken in this mock, leaves Eason and Love available for the Colts at the beginning of Round 2 with the Skins pick. I myself would much rather have one of the 4 above QBs, but we may not be in range without moving up. Will be interesting to see what Ballard and Co decide to do come draft season. Two other non-QB guys I'm looking at in the 1st are Javon Kinlaw for South Carolina, he's another Interior Defensive Lineman, and also Isaiah Simmons, he's imo the best LB'er in this class, can literally do it all.    https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/sikkema-s-2020-nfl-mock-draft-2.0
    • Good ones in the draft.    1T's:  Darrick Brown, Rashard Lawrence, Neville Gallimore, Darrion Daniels, Marvin Wilson.     3T's:  Raekwon Davis, Javon Kinlaw, Justin Madabuike.   Brown and Lawrence can play 3T as well   Edge: Around 14 of them    Assuming we will be picking in the 20's plus the Redskins pick, I wouldn't mind these 5 in the 1st 4 rounds if we want to go all out on DL.  Never happen, but it would be cool.  Keep Turay, Houston, and Autry for sure and add these 5.   1st:                                 Javon Kinlaw    -     3T 2nd (from Redkins)    Curtis Weaver  -      Edge 2nd                                Rashard Lawrence (1T and 3T) 3rd                                 Justin Madubuike - 3T       4th                                  Neville Gallimore or Marvin Wilson (1T)   Edge Rushers - Houston, Turay, Weaver 3T's                      Autry, Kinlaw, Lawrence, Madubuike 1T                        Gallimore or Wilson and Lawrence could play 1T as well.
    • I'm old school but Otto Graham's winning record makes everyone including Brady look pedestrian. 10 straight championship games winning 7 world titles (81% winning pct tops all time) , highest yards per pass attempt 8.63 which somehow still stands.  The game was so much different like comparing apples to oranges almost as far as td/int and pass yards per game. 5 x MVP, QB of NFL's 75 anniversary team.   Manning,Unitas,Montana,Brady,Brees, Favre all in top 10 discussion.  Not sure Elway even is in the same breath.
    • Don't get me wrong. I thought, not think, Wilson and Basham were his two best picks.  And Leonard the year later.   I think Smith was picked to be a G, but has worked out to be more valuable than just a G.    Leonard has worked out to be more special than a #36 pick, so that has turned out to be his best pick, IMO, if we're judging picks through the time they were picked and now.  Nelson has been a great pick too.
