This guy is paying big dividends in the running game.  I was watching the highlights of the Cowboys game and he is being asked to wham not only LBs but, lineman also and he is doing a great job of it.  Check out the Offensive line play at Stampede Blue and ISO on him and you will see what I mean.....

I imagine that the Cox ability to block is what caused Swoope to get cut

 

I watched the game with Cowboys, but didnt notice how well our RT did against the famous Demarcus Lawrence.......  Our non-famous rookie RT, controlled the 2 time pro bowl DE from Dallas   ONE ON ONE..... 

 

Hats off to Branden Smith........  He looks to be putting it all together......  The mid season blip in performance is JUST that........   a blip.... I was WRONG to doubt the man......

Braden Smith has been eclipsed a bit by the terrific seasons that Nelson and Leonard have put together, but he's quietly earning a lot of respect. Who could have foreseen that the Colts would find their starting (dare I say "stud"?) RT in a second-round RG prospect who was expected to be Slauson's backup? He's taken on some pretty darn good DEs, one-on-one, and he wins most of those snaps.

The REALLY cool thing?

 

Cox is SHINING, and he is STILL learning the game.....

 

He SHOULD get better over time

 

Give him an offseason, and camp, and this guy could be as good or BETTER than Doyle.

 

He seems to have a bit more speed than Doyle.

 

Chris Ballard is an AWESOME talent evaluator

Cox emergence helped, but Swoope’s non-availability probably was the biggest factor in him getting cut.  Hard to keep a #3 TE on the roster if he can’t play.  Apparently the Saints felt the same way.  

 

I hope he can find a way to keep healthy and resume his career.  Lots of potential.

      To use an off season surgery as an excuse is bollocks....    He needs to step up his game and start performing. In many ways he honestly looks like one of the 5 worst QB´s in the league and again, to use a shoulder surgery as an excuse is just pure bollocks.   There simply is no development in his game, and his huge upside is what? tell me?    I don´t think one second that we will ever come close to winning anything with him as our QB.   and to make things worse read this: https://www.espn.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=2176813

      And yet, PFF didn't grade him all that high last year.  My response to this is that the scheme is designed for the MLB and the SS to make most of the tackles.  And they do. But last year, Franklin allowed a 77% completion rate with 10.2 yards per completion, and 7.9 yards per target.  In summary, he makes a lot of tackles by scheme, but he also allows a lot of completions.       Every bottom feeder team has a good player or two. Are the colts a bottom feeder? At times they play like it.    the “forum GMs” as you call them, don’t dislike when a player does well. They just hate when the team sucks. There’s nothing wrong with that. And no one here says some of the Colts players aren’t good players.    the Colts stunk it up pretty bad in the first two weeks, lost game one again a stat that we have held for over a decade. In must win games, the colts perform exceptionally awful with a mind boggling level of consistency under this regime.    the good players that the Colts have tend to also not show up in those games and make any game changing plays.    ok so Franklin can tackle. So what? Yeah the forum GMs are shaking with rage because of that!

      The huge difference is that you could see the progress in peytons game and how he always learned and keept going. and in year two, he really took off and started to show why we picked him.   With AR, things just getting worse, game after game... I wouldn't mind if we traded him for some picks next season.
