Steelers and 2010 Packers were the last 2 teams who won it all as a #6 seed. 2007 Giants won it all as a #5 seed. Those are the only 3 teams that won it all having to play 3 games on the road to get to the SB.

Since 2005, outside 2016, one of the SB participants has played the NFC East division in its entirety, take a look, stat/pattern geeks. :)

Seahawks - lost in SB, played NFC East

Colts - played NFC East

Giants - belonged to the NFC East, Patriots who lost in SB also played NFC East

Steelers - played NFC East, so did 2008 Cardinals who lost in SB

Saints - played NFC East

Packers - played NFC East

Giants - Again, belonged to the NFC East, Patriots who lost in SB also played NFC East

Ravens - played NFC East

Broncos - lost in SB to Seahawks, played NFC East

Seahawks - lost in SB to Patriots, played NFC East

Panthers - lost in SB to Broncos, played NFC East

was the first season neither team played the NFC East

Eagles - belonged to the NFC East

Saints - played the NFC East so far, also in conversation are AFC South teams :)
