Houston (+2.5) at Philadelphia (12-23-18)

1 p.m. EST, Ian Eagle and Dan Fouts on CBS

Low 40s and sunny at Lincoln Financial field, Philadelphia   over-under at 46

Houston QB Deshaun Watson (291 of 430, 3,582 yards, 24 Tds 9 INTs) has to get rid of the ball. Don't hold it and pat it and run around. .

Play pro football. Not college football.

He has a all-NFL receiver in DeAndre Hopkins  (94 catches, 1.321 yards (No. 1 in the NFL) and a good back in Lamar Miller (193 catches, 917 yards)

Watson has run78 times for 436 yards.

So why has Watson been sacked 53 times?. DeSean tries to run around and make plays and he ends up on his back half the time.

Throw the ball quickly against a Philadelphia secondary that has more slow,  birds than a KFC chicken farm

The Eagles have gone to former backup QB (Old St.) Nick Foles and they won a must-win game at the L.A. Rams 30-23 last week.

Foles has tall, slow Alshon Jefferey (57 catches, 702 yards) and top tight end Zack Ertz (101 catches, 1038 yards) .

But Houston brings a big time pass rush with all-pros JJ (my brother is good, too) Watt (14.5 sacks) and Jadeveon 'Killer Clown' Clowney (8 sacks) and the Eagles dont run the ball very well (1,384 yards rushing on 14 games)

Houston (10-4) clinches the AFC South with a win but they split with the Colts (8-6) and Tennessee (9-6) and I dont think they've even clinched a playoff berth yet.  The Eagles will all be on the golf course Monday if they cant win this one.

Philadephia (7-7) has already lost to Minnesota (7-7) so they make the playoffs ONLY  if they beat Houston and Washington in the final 2 games AND Minnesota loses one.

Hard to pick a winner here. Philadelphia is taking in guys off the street to play in the secondary but Houston has seemed a bit weak since the end of their 9-game winning streak and when you look up 'hostile crowd' in the dictionary, it shows a sold out football stadium in Philadelphia.

Houston has four wins by 3 points or less but there's a reason they aren't favored here. The over-under number is right where it should be.

I think the Eagles win and cover..

I think it goes to the Eagles today. The Texans are on top of the division because in part the Colts came out of the gate with nothing. The Jags proved to be nothing and the Titians are hitting their stride as well late in the season with a QB that is hot and cold. Like the Colts years back the AFC South was a weak puppy making it easy to be on top.

Watson has an ability..late in the game..to brush off everything that blew up all day..

……...and rally his boys..

Hes sacked so much....but he just keeps firing

Somewhat like young Andrew use to throw picks and then came back with the great throws

Can Jacksonville beat Houston next week?

…..Division game...

…..It would be sweet to be division champs

Yes they can. Watson is the Sacked King for 2018. He (like Luck used to) holds the ball too long and he (again like Luck used to) throws a lot of long balls. Their offensive line is porous so it all boils down to how bad the Jags get into Watson's game. Count on Clowney to jump in to the neutral zone too soon as well. It I becoming his trademark.
