Just a dumb coaching decision to go for it on 4th down there. You HAVE to come away with at least 3 points there.  Just let Jax off the hook for all their undisciplined play.

Not at all, the numbers are pretty solid and EW% and EVA. Stop basing reactions off outcomes. You can't think like that as a HC.

There is no guarantee to win more games because they went for it on 4 th down. 

 

You play to to win the game, you take the points there, so that you know, you actually take the lead.

What evidence is there that the Colts score on 4th and goal enough to out weigh taking the easy 3?  Colts rarely seem to succeed on those sort of gambles.  Take the 3 and accumulate points.

Ok.. no it's not a guarantee. Neither is kicking the 3 BUT in the long-term you will win more games going for it in that situation. That's not opinion, that's math.

I was calling it dumb before the outcome.  And I disagree with your flawed stats. Prove that the Colts succeed on those gambles enough.  League wide numbers are NOT Colts numbers.   Plus look at how disjointed the Colts are looking. You gotta take the points.

We've been one of the better teams in those situations so not sure why you say that. 

 

The evidence, is people looking at a huge sample of plays, working out the EVA for those plays, then how it affects win % and there's shed loads of analytics articles there with solid math.
