Brees is in a league of his own, but I doubt Mahomes puts up the insane numbers again next season.

Luck may win the comeback player but he was never considered in the MVP race by anyone.

His team is 5-5, not 9-1.

I’ve gotten on Luck in the past but these past few weeks he has almost eliminated the mistakes and has looked amazing!  So I have to give him his props.  It was refreshing how much time he had to throw today.  He definitely deserves that after all he has suffered.  Now he is beginning to show what he can really do.  Keep it up 12.

Reich, Sirianni, Marcus Brady have really helped him tighten up the wild parts of his game. He's playing like a vet now.

Luck has Comeback Player of the Year wrapped up, the only QB's playing better are Mahomes and Brees.

I think it will go to Breez. The NFL wants him to have one before he retires. IMO he has earned it this season and we still have 6 games to go.

Yeah he has never won one but he actually deserves it IMO. Saints are 9-1 and he has been great all season. I am ok with it.

I actually dislike Brees. Awesome player and individual. But that SB and his short passes that murdered us that game made me forever dislike him (as a player). I want Mahomes to get the MVP.

Mahomes hasn't paid his dues like Brees has.  Breez didn't beat us in the super bowl by himself.

Yeah Brees definitely deserves MVP this year. Let him get his award and we can get our revenge on the Saints by beating them in the Super Bowl and send Brees to his retirement. Win/win for everybody.

Mahomes is having a better year.   That's what it should be based on.   Not "dues"

MVP isnt about paying your dues and then finally getting one. Its about who's the best that specific year. There's a reason Brees hasn't won an MVP. Sure he probably deserves one, but each of those years there was somone better.

Luck has always been incredible. he finally has an OL and Reich's offense has been good although he could plan in most offenses. he moved in the pocket beautifully  today..

 Brees is great but has sooo many more weapons than Andrew and Brees deserves all the accolades he is getting. In a year or two Andrew should have more weapons and we will then see. Don't know of a QB I would tahe over Luck right now if I were starting a team.

He hasn't earned anything yet. There's at least 1 player having a better year than him on an equally good team.

I’m not taking any QB over Luck right now.  He is dealing.  His fundamentals, poise in the pocket, and decision making are on another level.  His pre snap recognition has improved by leaps and bounds under Frank.  He’s making the game look easy in his first year back from a major shoulder surgery and in a completely new system...  Unbelievable.  

 

He’s passed A-Rod as the best back shoulder thrower in the league.  Someone in one of these threads said Luck should be in the top 50 NFL players.  That’s selling him short.  He’s certified top 20.  Top 10 if we’re being honest but top 20 will be a great beginning to his comeback.   Just for fun, can we name 20 better players than him right now?  I’ll give Donald, Mack, Brees, Gurley, & Mahomes for the year he’s having but Luck is better overall.  Who else?

Luck and Mahomes have almost identical stat lines.

Unless he implodes the last six games, Luck should win CPOY.

 

He can get into the MVP discussion only if he finishes top 3-5 in most major QB stat lines whilst also leading us to a playoff berth. Even then Brees would need to slow down considerably.

I have to say one thing about the game yesterday is I don't think LUCK threw any head scratcher passes as he had previously in each game this season.

It shouldn't be about that no.  But there are always some biases that go into things like this.  

 

And I have to think that Brees would probably have the edge on Mahomes because of how long he's been playing.

Oh I disagree with that statement, Luck is getting plenty of attention for sure. If Luck doesn’t win it though and either Mahhomes or Brees wins, those two are equally deserving of it based on what they’ve done to date. Mahhomes is just a tremendous athlete and still making the right decisions. Hard to sustain for a full season so time will tell his story.

Brees - 76.9 completion %, 25 TD's, 1 INT, 126.9 rating

True, but maybe up by 7-8 INT's too.  Brees being at 77% completions is amazing.   Lots of deep balls too.   Brees has already had his bye too, Mahomes gets his next week, so those gaps should shrink. 

We are kind of splitting hairs here.
