I don't have any problems with giving a guy a look as long as his troubles had nothing to do with violence or being a bad locker room influence.  Cut him quickly if he becomes a problem

Worth a look and a signing.  If he flames out, you don’t really lose anything as likely the guy jettisoned for him you can just re-sign at this point

Jalen is playing for his career at this point. He knows 1.) He has to perform or he'll get cut, and 2.) He can't get in any more trouble or his career is over as well. Hopefully both of those factors will entice him to do well and stay clean.

Maybe Ballard thinks we now have the leadership in the locker room to absorb a character issue signing. If so this might mean that we'll be bigger players in free agency too.

If he worked out well , it would seem to be a good signing for the Colts and a great landing spot for Collins.

Maybe he doesn't have a "character" problem.  Maybe he had a substance abuse problem that he has since conquered.

He should still be able to sign with the practice squad. I wouldnt be surprised for him to end up there to ser how it goes.

Adding Collins and another pick in the draft next year should solidify the defensive backs.

 

Creates a lot of competition between Wilson, Hairston, Moore II, potentially Collins and another high draft pick.

 

Although, Wilson has been playing a lot in the Geathers role lately as well...could a move to safety be in his future?

IDK much about him other than he was a high draft pick a few years ago.  Is he any good?  Can he help if he stays legit?  I will defer to CB in whatever he decides.  He did well with Marcus Peters in KC.

If he's a weed guy, it's a low risk move assuming he's cheap. If it's harder drugs, I'd pass. He's a very solid player when he came in to the league, just not sure what kind of shape he is in. 

 

Would love to see a guy rebound and make good.

Might he can return to his form as when he was with the falcons this would be a GREAT pickup imo 6’1 203 with good speed. He was above average for the falcons and he’s better than all some of the other guys we have starting.

Just how do you know Ballard didn't pursue Gordon?  Just because he signed with New England does not mean other teams were not interested.

It seems Ballard is pretty tight with his draft picks and that may have come into play?

If Jalen can get his act together he could be a star in the NFL.  And I'm sure CB is seeing if his character has changed/improved.  But he failed multiple drug tests in college and multiple suspensions in the NFL I will not hold my breath.

I don't think they can use that wording but a team just needs to make the salary the base minimum and the rest incentives.

I've never thought PED usage was the character issue some make it out to be.  He can still be a good locker room guy and team player, IMO.

 

My concern is that he needs the PEDs to enhance his performance enough to be a good NFL player.
