Quenton Nelson is the first guard in NFL history to win Offensive Rookie of the Month recognition

Recommended Posts

Well deserved award for Big Q. Before Quentin was drafted, Luck and Brissett got their brains bashed in every single week. After Quentin was drafted, Luck rarely takes big hits.

Insane. There’s still games left to play, but I would think this should be enough to say he’s lived up to expectations, if not exceeded them.

So what you're saying is that we did just fine taking a Guard in the top 10...

Not only that, but this saying that all those people complaining about Ballard first 3 picks were wrong. His first two have been rookie of the week and month, and are both firmly in the running for Rookie of the year. His 3rd pick is starting at a position that wasn’t supposed to be his natural fit, and is excelling.

Where is that “Ballard is not impressing me” guy at now?

It is like watching the Hulk pounce like a cat, gaining position, then mauling his defender into submission. He is adapting very quickly.
Great job by all 5 lineman refining their skills and working their combination blocks so smartly.
So who is this guy McDump wanted for his line coach? Haha. Great job Coach!
Watch colts.com Ebron piece to see some excitingly good TE blocking. With this kind of team blocking, finding RB's that can get it done get's MUCH easier. And less expensive.  :colts:

He is amazing and will only get BETTER!  Love how he's usually the first guy to get to our RB to help him up and head back to the huddle.  He is such a team player and takes great pride in protecting his QB and opening holes for his RBs.

Pfffppfft, we should have taken a RB or WR at pick #6.....

barkley wasnt even there.  if he had been he would have been a great pick too

this class has been impressive though, except for lewis our 4th round and higher picks are all meeting or exceeding expectations.  Leonard and smith are greatly exceeding them

Im concerned about Ballards hit rate regarding future draft picks, because if he keeps hitting bullseye, we will be in capspace hell in 5-6 years

Because all of these players might want to see big paychecks down the road, and if he keeps hitting it out of the park, we cant pay them all.

But Id rather he keeps hitting jackpots in the draft than not.

Trade bait for more future picks.

Or, at least comp picks....

It still amazes me that Andrew is starting to get Peyton type protection. Big test coming though next sunday. Keep it up Big Q and lets give a shout out to ryan kelly as well. Im sure Reich is gonna show them that 10 sack game to fire them up

Not to get ahead of ourselves, but when we have to let some of our guys go, getting a steady flow of 3rd and 4th rd comp picks would be sweet.

And since no one has mentioned this.  a reminder,  that Darius Leonard was the Defensive Rookie of the Month for September!

Back to back winners in October and November!

Pretty sweet!!

And who do you suggest that to have been?  DJ Moore was the highest WR taken in the draft, hes got 18 receptions and 171 yards, playing in 7 games.  That would put him 7th in stats on the COLTS pass catchers. Just above Jack Doyle, who's played in just 3 games.

outside of Barkley at RB, there was no other RB taken in the first round and outside of barkely, none are really performing

That Ballard isn't too bad , he also drafted Mack who has dominated 2 weeks in a row.

Chubb is Good but we have Nelson and Leonard, advantage Colts.

Colts could have still had Chubb and Leonard though.

But I was kidding...I take the trade back in that scenario 10/10 times. It is nice to know that it appears the Colts couldn't lose either way.

Barkley would have been a pick by both Polians and Grigson, Ballard has a different vision. The coaching staff and brass are high on Lewis. I can't wait to see what he brings to the team.

So does this mean it's possible Ballard might be right and drafting a guard top 10 isn't always a mistake?

Can’t wait to see Lewis especially since Ballard said how high he is on him.  If we want to make a run we need him bringing pressure up the middle.

    • Haven't done research on the 2020 draft yet, but if it ends up having an elite WR or OT, I wouldn't mind trading up this year. We'll have to see where we finish (hopefully 32 ), and make a decision from there. Ballard landing the Redskins 2nd rounder may be a brilliant move.
    • I had us 9-7 just based on guessing/hoping/predicting Luck would be healthy and play great. I was right but a lucky guess, I guess  . I thought that would get us a 6th seed. We won 10 games which got us in.
    • For the first time in a while, I am impressed with the Colts development of players. If this current trend continues, a lot of opinions will change.
    • I had us going 10-6 and winning the AFC South. I knew with Luck back we'd be at minimum .500, and I thought by adding Nelson, Ebron, and Cain, our O would be pretty decent, and enough to take the South. We were 10-6, but didn't win the South.  I wasn't counting on our D being as good, so I guess they overachieved. Honestly I'm still not sold on our D. This year will be a much bigger test.
    • There appears to be a possibility that the Pacers acquire 31-year-old Eric Gordon, the shooting guard for the Rockets.   Houston wants Jimmy Butler but they don't have cap space to sign him. The 76ers would have to sign Jimmy and trade him to Houston. But Houston cant send the 76ers matching salaries because Philadelphia already has to sign Tobias Harris, JJ Reddick and soon Embid and Ben Simmons..   So the 76ers and Houston have to find a third team who could acquire some salary. In the theory of this trade: That team would be the Pacers who would take the final year of Eric Gordon's contract at $15 mil   Obviously, Gordon is an IU grad and Indianapolis native. He comes off the Houston bench behind Chris Paul and James Harden. 16.2 per game last year and 16.7 for his 11-year career..   Forgetting how crazy Houston's locker room would be with Paul, Harden and Butler, is there a downside to acquiring Gordon, who would start until Oladipo returns? We might have to give up next year's No.1 pick.
