Tarell Basham claimed by New York Jets

Recommended Posts

Doesn’t surprise me one bit that somebody picked him up via waivers.  Basham is young and still has some upside.

Rule states he has to be on active roster correct?

how long?

He does go to the active roster, but there's no amount of time he has to stay on the active roster. They can waive him anytime.

If a team signs a player from another team's practice squad, he has to stay on the active roster for 3 weeks.

Do you think 53 is too low a limit for a roster? Would you add the PS spaces to it?

Don't think this will come back to haunt us. Him having a child can't be the reason he wasn't around. He wasn't any good (for us I'm speaking).

Good for him, maybe a change of scenery is what he needs....

On a side note, Turay is probably beside himself with joy since he'd now be able to wear his idols number - 58 (Von Miller)! Countdown until it happens in 3...2...1...

Well, does this mean the draft last year was more tailored to Pagano's 3-4, and while we all thought Basham fit the 4-3 better, in reality, 3-4 teams were just as interested?? At least these actions by the Jets make it seem so.

Henry Anderson, however, has been doing real well there (this was before game 4):

He ranks tied for 10th among qualifiers in pass-rush productivity (8.2), as he's recorded nine total pressures (five hurries, two hits, two sacks) across 67 pass-rush snaps.

Henry Anderson has 2.5 sacks after 4 games.

I'd keep the practice squad and active roster separate, but I'd relieve some of the restrictions for teams to keep their own young players. In this situation, it doesn't make sense that the Colts should have to waive one of their young prospects just to field a legitimate game day roster.

But I do think the rosters should be bigger. I'd go 60 active, 50 on game day, with a separate 10 person practice squad. Hopefully after last night, more people understand the reason for the game day restrictions.

Its been discussed.

with the decrease in real practices , etc, and increase in injuries across the league, i think its good for the league.

increase the roster AND PS, imo.

Better depth league-wide should equate to a better product on Sundays.

really wanted to keep him. really I wanted to keep Basham and Simon, I understood why we let Anderson go.

IMO you don’t even up the 53 just the GameDay Roster

Let's be honest he was a major major disappointment.

Only snag is we have no depth behind Turay now.

Overall proves you need to find pass rusher no later than round 2. Projects don't appear to work in the game these days

No, Ballard knew he was going to change the defensive scheme and let Pagano go after a year. Knowing that, there’s no way he drafted players for Pagano unless he is a complete *. Either way it was a bad pick and it’s all on Ballard.

And he’s doing it from a 3-4 Defense....

Not a 4-3...

Doesn’t matter. Anderson slimmed down to play in the 4-3, I think him and hunt would’ve played well together. Henry Anderson is gonna end up being like a Justin smith type player, maybe not that good but still. Very stupid letting him go

    • "Everyone wanted him to fail so bad". Not really IMO to your post. I could care less about him and I still think at times he may abuse his wife and he has anger issues. She puts up with it because he has millions and they have a kid together. Based on his past I believe he has issues. This here doesn't change my mind about him. They won't have an excuse now when we beat them  . I hope Leonard knocks him silly when he goes over the middle, I would.   You seem to really defend the guy, why I have no idea. You say she is "a piece of you know what". I think he is too and a proven abuser.
    • True.  But if I remember correctly Bellicheck sent Bledsoe to the Bills and then started Brady.  That was a long time ago of course and I don't remember what they received in return.  I wonder if there are more current examples of a star player being traded within the same division?
    • If you say so.  It's not evident from your posts And I accepted that.  I'm just saying their previous method was flawed and their new method is flawed as well. But you are equating real life to the game.  Of course in the game a player is going to increase/decrease based on certain items.  For example, if somewhere were to play Madden 2019 through the 2019 season and then start the 2020 season, players ratings would increase/decrease based on the games algorithms.  But that doesn't have anything to do with real life and an actual players ratings. Wow, thanks.  Again, a lot of the Madden ratings leave me scratching my head. But according to you, it's not the same for every player.  You claimed that for oline it was a cumulative based on all their years but with skilled positions since they have more tangible skill sets, their ratings can be based on less information.
    • The NFL did the right thing. There was no evidence of child abuse and the hospital ruled it a accident. Sure maybe he could of got a couple games from the way that tape came off but they did the right thing. It looks like his fiancé is a piece of you know what. Everyone wanted him to fail so bad.  For the kids sake I hope these two go there separate ways so this kid isn’t stuck with them going at it all the time.
    • I personally don't think a QB has to win a SB to be considered great. If having to win a SB is the standard to make a QB great does winning a SB automatically make a QB great. The answer is no unless you consider Jeff Hosteler, Doug Williams, Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Joe Flacco great QBs. Those guys don't even belong in the same conversation as Luck and Marino when considering who is the better QB.
