Ha, thanks man... I appreciate that.

Lots of doom-and-gloom articles these past two days chronicling the Patriots' slow start. Stats-wise, this is considerably worse than recent years (like in 2014 when they got stomped by KC on that Monday night, leading to the now-infamous "they're done" takes from Dilfer and others). Maybe this is the beginning of the end? We'll have to wait and see I guess.

You'll be fine.

The Patriots will magic away their problems, Edelman will come roaring out of the gate in two weeks, Josh Gordon will revert to 2013 form on your watch, you'll win 13 games, get the #1 seed, get a weak opponent in the Divisional Round, get to the AFC Championship Game and probably win it, and get to the Super Bowl where you'll be at worst a coin flip to win it.

It's still your league to lose.

That was an ugly game but we've seen it before. Last year it was the early season pass defense but a favorable schedule straightened that out (until the super bowl lol). You can't judge the Patriots in September.

Wait and see is the best response.

Some good news, Brady has never lost at home against the Dolphins (except the last game of the 2005 season which he only played the first quarter).

Or,

Brady and Gronk have contaminated the locker room.  :Nuke:

We have a huge game as well, the Colts should be 3-0 but unfortunately we are 1-2 like you guys. I think the Pats are still ok and will beat Miami at home, once that happens I can see them reeling off about 6 or 7 wins in a row. I think the Colts will handle Houston as well to get to 2-2. We play you guys after that in NE so I see the Pats winning there too. Until we beat the Pats I can't pick us to win at NE. The Colts schedule gets much easier after our game with the Pats, which gives the Colts hope moving forward over the next month.

While many of you seem to think the Pats will come around and win their division, etc..., I sense failure in your ability to explain why this will happen...as we have all seen this phenomenon play out in previous seasons.

The fact is, as many of you have pointed out over the years, that the Patriots will "cheat" their way to another successful season, right?  Afterall, isn't it already obvious after the first 4 games?  Just look at Blake Bortles and Matthew Stafford vs. the NE defense ON THE ROAD.  Now take a look at Tanneyhill and DeShaun Watson AT GILLETTE STADIUM vs the same NE defense.

Why no one mentioned the Patriots' "cheating" and/or the idea that "the officials are making calls because the league wants NE to win" is beyond me?  Is it purely coincidental that hese claims are missing from this Patriot's thread??...

With this being said, it is obvious what will happen in Indy's big "Rivalry is Back" game this Thursday.  Why would one even want to tune into this game when the outcome is SO obvious?

Personally, I am a big fan of Reich and am VERY skeptical of this year's Patriot's team.

Way too early to be calling anything a "must win" in my opinion. If the Dolphins win they have a 3-game lead in the division after 4 games... and yeah, that's a pretty good place to start your season. But I've been watching football long enough to know that what you see in September is almost always a far cry from what you see after Thanksgiving.

I don't know about you but I felt the Pats played like it was a must-win game.

Jaguars and Chiefs - two teams that they will have to deal with for HFA. Chiefs fade away with time, so do Jaguars with losses against teams they should beat. Will history repeat itself for the Patriots to get HFA again?

The only difference this year is that two teams that I feel are balanced and match up well vs the Patriots - Ravens and Chargers, are playing well just like last year. If they had made the playoffs last year, I felt they would have made the path to the SB much harder for the Patriots' D. They barely missed it last year, so I am rooting for those to make it as wild cards at the very least.

The Jaguars are really the only defense that hasn't been scorched atleast once this short year. Saying a team's defense might not hold up is nothing exclusive to any team from the Pats to the Browns these days. I want to say Bill even knows this and is prepared to sell out to the offense from here on out.

If they really are done though of course I will still laugh lol!

Sense of urgency, sure. My prior post was more a reflection of my opinion that Miami would fade/slide/whatever, not so much that the Patriots would right the proverbial ship. Had the Dolphins won yesterday they would be in control of their own destiny, but I never believed they would maintain their level of play throughout an entire season.

The Ravens make me a bit nervous... the Chargers not so much... Baltimore is one of the few teams that play the Patriots with no fear.

    • Medical definitely.  His production heavily outweighs the age issue. Although I’ve wondered if his physical maturity is why he did so well.  But he doesn’t rely on great physical attributes.     I think two bold things.  Irsay demands we go get Marv jr.  if not then we are taking an edge rusher.  If latu is at 15 it seems like the clearest lock to me.   Maybe not so bold.
    • I'll be scratching me head forever if the Colts pass on him, and he turns out to be Aaron Donald.    I know you're big on "measurables". I remember back in the day arguing with you about Braden Smith being able to play RT because his arms weren't long enough. Don't get me wrong, I know measurables certainly play a part. But I still take the player and his skillset over his measurements.
    • Are you hoping it doesn't happen because he doesn't fit the Colts profile? Or because you don't think he'd be a good player for us?   I agree that he's not a Ballard type of prospect, and for that reason, I doubt we draft him. We only have one DT who's shorter than 6'4" -- Adebawore is 6'2", he was drafted in the 4th round, he's an outlier athlete, has really long arms, and I think he's probably more of a DE/DT hybrid. Drafting a 6'0" DT/3T, especially in the first round, doesn't seem like something Ballard would do.   But I think Murphy is a really good player, and a really good athlete, despite his lack of size. His speed and explosive numbers are great for a player his size. His tape looks good. He fits our defensive scheme. He led all interior DL prospects with a 19.6% pressure rate. He hates being blocked, and plays like he lives his life for the sole purpose of defeating offensive linemen.    I am not comparing him to Aaron Donald. But before the 2014 draft, I said Donald was the kind of guy you just draft and figure it out, whether he fits your scheme/profile or not. In no way am I saying Murphy is as good as Donald was, not even as a prospect, but I think he might be good enough to apply the same logic. Put him in a gap shooting front and let him disrupt.    I would not mind if we drafted him at all. It would be a big surprise, but I think he's a really good prospect.
    • I was waiting for his mock today. Some interesting picks but nothing quite as exciting as him predicting the Texans trade up to 3 and them getting Stroud and Anderson. The most interesting one is him giving JC Latham to the Chargers at 5. I expect them to get an OT but I thought it would be Alt. Lets see...    Another interesting thing - Brian Thomas Jr drops all the way to 28 to the Bills. There has been some rumors about him having a shoulder issue that would need to be addressed surgically at some point. Possible he falls. Latu falls to 27 too... I guess health related again.    Worthy and Mitchell go 31 and 32 to the 49ers and the Chiefs... Urgh!
    • I have noticed this too, nothing against Murphy he is a good player, but I’m hoping for a WR or atleast the TE Bowers.
