I met him once in Bloomington on the street. I was making a delivery and he pulled up on a cycle and didn't realize he parked right in the way at the back of my truck. As he was walking away I ask him to move his cycle because he was in the way.  He was as nice as he could be. He said he was sorry that he never thought about it. I told him thanks and ask him if he was John Cougar and his response was that wasn't his real name. He then said his name was John Mellencamp and he was from a few miles down the road. We made some small talk and then went on our way. He seemed like a great guy to me. He has sure changed from those days for sure.  More poet and artist these days.
