[PFF] Top 5 players by position (pre-season rankings for the 2019 draft)

Recommended Posts

So here there are some of their top 5s:

EDGE defenders:

5. Oshane Ximines, Old Dominion

4. Jalen Jelks, Oregon

3. Anthony Nelson, Iowa - I watched that film, he looks slow and unathletic, I have no idea what they are seeing in him as a top tier prospect. I wouldn't draft him anywhere close to day 1 or day 2 based on that tape

2. Rashan Gary, Michigan... now we are talking

1. Nick Bosa, Ohio State

I will be posting additional positional top 5s in following posts with highlight videos on each prospect.

3. TJ Edwards, Wisconsin

2. Devin Bush, Michigan

1. Dakota Allen, Texas Tech - this is a new prospect for me, I have to watch him(Last Chance U prospect? Interesting. )

Are there any standout candidates for #1 at present?

I genuinely don't follow college ball that much but I haven't heard of anything like a Myles Garrett type of pick that stands out, aside a lot of talk about Bosa but is that linked to his brother as well as the ability?

Sure we will be picking #32 anyway so not too much to worry about! :ninja:

Depends on who gets the pick. IMO the best prospects are Nick Bosa and Ed Oliver and if I had to pick right now who goes no.1 I would pick one of them. Jonah Williams(OT from Alabama) has a chance to get selected no. 1 if the team selecting has a serious need at OT. Herbert, Grier, Lock, Finley seem to be the pre-season QB favorites so depending on how the season goes and if a QB needy team is selecting 1 maybe some of them gets selected no. 1.

IMO the WR class is extremely strong but I'm not sure any of them would be selected no.1 There are half a dozen receivers that are not listed here that mgiht be first round picks(or early second) when it's all said and done. DK Metcalf is a favorite of The Draft Network for example and they mocked him to us at no.9 in a very early mock draft that I listen to on one of their podcasts. He looks extremely tantalizing from what I've seen. BTW Ole Miss' WR and TE units are insane this year. They might have 3-4 1st round picks alone.

With the way our WR group has looked and Cain's injury not allowing us to evaluate him, if we don't get a premier WR in free agency, I absolutely expect Ballard to dip his toes into this strong WR class with one of the first 3 picks.

Wow, those LB rankings are way off from where I stand. They don’t even have LSU’s Devin White listed, and he’s my #1!

It seems like I posted the thread in the wrong sub-forum. Can I ask a moderator to move it to the draft sub-section. Thanks in advance.

Sure to change over the next 7-8 months, but much appreciated. Really focusing on the CBs for next year.

I thought the same thing. Dude's highlight tape from last year is pretty nasty. Maybe the game film tells a different story? Hard to say at this point but he looks like an All-Pro at a glance.
