That FA loss seems less impactful

Yep...he was a lot older coming into us so he already had a limited shelf life. I will say if he came to us like he originally did I think he would make an excellent WILB. He was a great cover backer....just took him too long to develop. We definitely got his best years out of him.

The one Grigson let get away and we still haven't been able to find his replacement.

Letting him go was best for both parties. He did not fit into the scheme the Colts were playing at defense at the time and was getting beat pretty good most of the time.

Now hindsight says it was a good thing he was let go from the Colts.

Disagree.

He was good for us

He did not play all that well for us.  We played a Tampa 2 defense and he was better at man to man. That is why he played a lot better for the Bears than for us. It was feast or famine with him when he was here.

Besides, we sure didn't need his drug problem thrown on us.

Freeman was suspended once in '16 for four games for PEDs...

And again in '17 for PEDs, this time for 10 games.

And even if he wanted to continue his career, he was looking at a TWO YEAR SUSPENSION for PEDs.

Freeman was fine for us.   But be glad for him that he got a bigger contract from the Bears than we would've given him.   Had we kept him we not have gotten the bang WE wanted for the bucks HE wanted.

Our LB unit will be much better this year.

    • Jax is also in win now mode..... Colts are not
    • I stand corrected he is 28.  My point was that he could have brougth some situational football here as far as a runner.  I do like the young running back that are here and wasn't expecting Hyde to come in here and be the man or something but to me the Colts are missing that little element that they had with Frank Gore.  Teams had to respect that the Colts just might just try to run to ball  inside the ten yard line.
    • Seriously... Watch this. And when they focus on just the 2 boys, mute the video and read the op. Syncs up almost too perfectly
    • Oh, on that we agree, just stating the facts, not saying I support him on it.  lol
    • OG is becoming a much more demanding, athletically speaking, position than it was in the past.  The OG of your Alan Ameche Days, most likely could not play OG in today's NFL.  The league is recognizing this, and premium OG's are beginning to be paid accordingly.  The OL is vastly improved this year by most all metrics, enjoy it, their ability to keep Luck upright, aided by the new offense or not, and open running lanes, makes the hypothetical need for Darnold, or any of your other desired high draft pick QB's, just that, hypothetical.  Enjoy the season, and the fact that you got to see some awesome Football 60 years ago, That era would have been a blast to watch live.
