2018 - 2019 Indiana Pacers and everything NBA thread

Friday (Aug. 10) is Pacers' Day on the NBA Network.

They will show classic Pacers games from the past.....including 3 playoff games this past season against the Cavs..

Its something they're trying apparently to get somebody  (anybody) to watch NBA-TV in August when there's no real basketball..

Dont know if you can watch it 'On Demand' later

But "Happy Pacers day'!

Counting ESPN, NBA-TV, TNT and ABC..

Pacers will have 17  'national TV'  games this coming season...

including 3 against Boston and all 4 against Philadelphia.

The 76ers will have 39 regular season games on National TV......seriously

I think it would be a thing of beauty if we wrecked their party and made the ECFinals keeping one of them out. We almost wrecked their LeBron party last season

The networks want a marquee team in the Eastern time zone...

……..now that 'Believe-land' has nothing but Love.

Indiana-Boston has a lot of 'storylines'

I have LA winning 50 games but the problem playing in the West is, that could be a 6th Seed. I have us winning 51.

50 is that 'bar' where the good teams go..

In a 4-game season series....we should be on top (meaning 3-1 or 4-0)  against Cleveland,  Atlanta. the Bulls, the Knicks,. the Nets, Charlotte and Miami

I agree as those are the bad teams. Miami could be a little tricky but we should beat them 3-1.

We're easier to predict because of added depth.

Vic, Myles or Darren Collison sitting out a game doesn't handcuff us like it did last year

..and who knows?  Maybe we'll pick up a 'Cole Hamels' at the trade deadline!!

Cole Hamels has been great so far! I still hate losing Lance, he was such a sparkplug off that bench but in reality Evans is a better player.

The Rockets have officially signed Melo

I just think he is a locker room killer. I don't see this ending well. Too many egos on that team...and literally he doesn't add anything to that team that they don't already have. They need a defensive specialist and they bring in Melo?? Can you imagine him trying to guard KD??? They already have a slow non-defensive shooting stretch 4 in Ryan Anderson who couldn't get on the court because he was a matchup nightmare in the last GS series.....this won't end well I'm afraid.

Congrats to Manu Ginobli on a wonderful career. 4 Chips with the Spurs. And somewhere crammed in the midst of team USA basketball gold medals, is a Gold medal for Argentina (which he lead)

I hope you enjoy retirement sir

One of my favorite all time non Pacer players.

His preferred destinations are 3 awful teams lol Knicks Nets and Clippers. WHY? Can definitely tell this is about money and not winning.

Maybe he thought he was rid of Thibodau for good when he left Chicago....only to be taken back into the twilight zone once again in Minnesota surrounded by a ton of the Bull cast offs. I also don't think he wants to play with the current young guys on the Wolves. I imagine his reasoning for going to those teams is it would allow him the best chance to go back to being a all nba player again and that would help him get the super max deal.

3 non playoff teams...….wow..

I know a certain team of Hoosiers that could find a spot for an all-star

With Jimmy all the pistons would be firing!

Yep. Money, big market, and a chance to be the alpha dog in a place where he could legitimately lure another big-time free agent. He may end up on the Knicks with Kyrie Irving following him next summer.

Jimmy Butler, Kyrie Irving, and Porzingis would be a good trio.

Knicks will have Knox too who IMO should be a pretty good NBA player.

Yes. I think Knox was kinda disappointing in what Cal was only able to get out of him. He looks ready to really take that next leap in the NBA. He should fit in perfectly as he continues to expand his game and extend his shot. That said what would the Knicks have to give up to land Butler?? Considering what Twolves gave up they are going to want good young players in return....Knox could be headed to play with the KAT.

I think Knoxs game will be perfect for the NBA. I think he had some games last year where he didn't give 100% but if the Knicks can get 100% out of him he will be a damn good player. 20+ ppg most years.

I hope we at least call Minneosta to ask what they'd want for Jimmy Butler.

 I bet we do

I don't want to break up a really solid team for a one year rental. I'm not super excited to get in on a guy that has played Tom Thibidou amount of minutes with bad knee and 29. Not only that he doesn't shoot the 3 well. Butler is a star on his way down....I want guys that are ascending. Not to mention he would probably just leave us at the end of the year anyways. I'm not risking our core on a guy like that. I want a guy I know wants to be here and is locked in to play alongside Dipo for the next 4-5 years.

Unfortunately, Indiana is not the place where those players typically go.  I wouldn't be too thrilled break up this team either.  However if we can't at least get the #2 seed in the East, I'd be willing to make some deals.    It gets old having a good team each year, but never a great team that can contend for a championship.   I'm hoping we can get that #2 seed and make it to the conference finals and give Boston a run.

In case anybody is watching this game as the Colts play the Patriots, Thad Young and Tyreke Evans won't be playing.

Thad has a foot injury and hasn't practiced in training camp at all. Tyreke Evans sprained an ankle in practice a couple days ago. Was a game time decision.

Both should be ready for opening day. TJ Leaf is in the starting lineup.
