I thought Mack was our change of pace back?

I was looking for more of a power runner to compliment Mack. I like Hines though. Just think having him and Marlon Mack in the backfield is kind of redundant. Not sure of our plan here.

Just wondering if you were able to watch Atlanta, KC, Vikes, Patriots, Rams, Eagles in the Playoffs?
They all run a number of plays with a similar player like Hines WITH a RB at the same time.
Think about it Please.

Exactly!!!

With Nick Sirianni as our OC, he saw what the Chargers did and Frank Reich saw what the Eagles did.

That is the new NFL folks. There are few every down guys like Zeke, Fournette, Bell and now Barkley.

However, most teams employ a heavy RBC to keep RBs fresh. Fix the OL, most RBs with vision and decent size, not necessarily the protoypical massive between the tackles runner, can get the yards needed. Our goal was to fix the OL so that most RBs can get the yards we need from an RB in the current NFL.

It is a copy cat league - LeSean McCoy - around 210-215 lbs, Kareem Hunt - 216 lbs, Sony Michel - 214 lbs, that is where the league is trending, not towards the 230 lb backs. The 230 lbs that can move at the same level as 215 lb backs are few and far between and go at the top of the 1st, so most teams employ the heavy RBC, IMO, RBs that can catch, pass protect and move in space with good vision between the tackles when necessary.

Ok that makes some sense.  I was thinking more along the lines of the model the Colts utilized last year. Very possible they have moved completely away from the thunder and lightning tandem...although the kid they took in the 5th round from Ole Miss seems to bring a little thunder with him.  We could have a nice core of runners if these guys actually stick.

When you have a punishing OL, those 215 lb backs can find the creases too. :)

Plus, you can bring the heavier backs later when the DL is tired like a Blount, Turbin and this Ole Miss kind etc. It is a departure from the bring heavier back earlier and then the scat back later philosophy of 10 years ago, IMO.
