I'm embarrassed with my post about Leanard. I was wrong  and eating crow because the guy is looking real good.

I love reminiscing.

Smith is a 1st team All American and All SEC. So he must be a scrub! We are bringing in 2 All Americans on the OL Protecting Andrew Luck is going to happen finally! Good pick!

I just love how all off season we've heard how we need to protect Andrew Luck. That if we only had an OL then Luck wouldn't have missed last year. Then Ballard goes and tries to fix the OL and the GM wannabes cry because it isn't the sexy pic. Come on people! If we protect Andrew this team will be a playoff contender.

Will be great if Luck is indeed under center which we all want.

Leonard is already 26? wth?

And we shouldn't have to draft two O linemen at 6 and 36 just to protect Luck. Grigson drafted a ton of them to.

This is the Colts throwing their hands up and admitting that they can't evaluate o linemen and are just going to take them as early as possible

Either that or Ballard is still shell shock from getting + slapped by the Patriots.

If he is under center then he needs protection and if it is JB under center then he probably needs a good line even more because he doesn't have the same skill set as Andrew.

Should have just taken Rosen and start over.

Luck is damaged goods and needs 5 first rounders just to protect him.

And Rosen with a poor line would have ended up beat up and battered like Andrew Luck. Like it or not, you have to protect the QB!

Good job Chris Grigson. In all seriousness, I HATE both picks. :(

Cannot say that here. The Company Line Colts fans will flip out over such disagreement. I'm with u bro.

I say the same thing to you two.  Tell us everything you know about the two picks.  I have not seen Leornard play so it would be fascinating to read what people that have seen him play have to say.

Ballard drafted a 27 year old LB at the top of the 2nd round and people are loving the pick. Man people are dumb.

Draft anyone and they're a starter on this team.

We gave up 52 sacks last year, so we drafted 2 All-American guards. I want all of the sexy edge rusher & cornerback picks jsut like everyone else, but there’s literally nothing to complain about with those 2 guard picks. And Leonard is easily the best LB on the roster now.

Sitting here watching ESPN and the Cowboys just picked Connor Williams. They already had one of the best O-Lines in the NFL and they went and added to it. Just goes to show you can't emphasize enough protecting the QB. We had one of the worst lines and we go and upgrade it and people complain. Crazy!

They lost a couple starters going into last year, they definitely need to re-tool a little bit, but I agree with what you’re saying 100%.

Maybe get the guy's age right before you start to call others dumb. He's 22. The 26 year old Darius Leonard is a different dude altogether.

Not cool guys.  Whether we agree with the picks or not, let's still try to be our normal respectful selves.

Maybe could have been better, definitely could have been a lot worse.

Either way, stay classy... especially you @SanDiegoColt8.

Never have I seen someone so good at calling other people dumb.

Agreed, LOL.

Seems like nowadays, the smartest people are soft spoken...while the dumbest arses are the most loud mouthed.

Pretty honest mistake. The Google result has the age at 26 and a photo of the guy they just drafted in the same box.

The link you posted has no age.

Honest mistake I guess shows you have nothing to base an opinion of the pick on for sure. Kid was recruited to Clemson he has the juice

Clemson didn't even offer him a scholarship.

And TJ Green actually came from Clemson...so why does it matter?

Your comment is wrong and pointless.

I think both of these picks start. They both fill a need.  I'm expecting Smith to start at RT with Good at RG. I think Mewhort and Slausen are solid backups now.

Smith is not a tackle

You have to keep in mind, these folks have spent minutes breaking down film on Youtube. They have also thoroughly browsed the mock drafts to see where mock drafts have these guys slated. If only Colts management knew this to the point research was available, they could have saved a lot of hours and money on scouting, going to games, going to practices. If they haven't heard your name, you can't possibly be worth the pick.

    • Here is my most updated version...   Ballard trades 21st overall pick to NO for their 28th overall, and late 2nd round pick. (They make a move up for Mac Jones or Trask in this scenario.)    Round 1 Pick 28 (N.O.): Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina - I would love to get Horn as our future #1 corner on this team. He has some Gilmore to his game and is a big physical corner which Ballard will love. Corner is such a big need longterm as Rhodes is up in age and Rock is no sure thing to stick with the team for the long haul.  Round 2 Pick 22: Jalen Mayfield, OT, Michigan - Mayfield has the athleticism to play both RT and LT. He hopefully would be capable of challenging to start immediately at LT, and having Big Q next to him will help him out along the way. Round 2 Pick 28 (N.O.): Joseph Ossai, DE/OLB, Texas - A very good overall DE here, in the mold of a Justin Houston. He is great at setting the edge, along with getting pressure as well. He may never be a dominant pass rusher, but playing alongside Buckner will help him get his double digit sacks. Round 4 Pick 22: Alim McNeill, DT, North Carolina State - Yes we already have Grover Stewart at NT, but having another great player to rotate in with both Buckner and him would be beneficial. And forget about teams running on them in goal line situations with Stewart, McNeill, and Buckner all on the field.    Round 5 Pick 21: Amari Rodgers, WR, Clemson - Ballard always seems to draft at least one Senior Bowl player, and I have a feeling Rodgers could be one of those guys. He is sneaky in finding ways to get open and find holes in the defense. He would make for a good slot WR if Campbell can't stay healthy.   Round 6 Pick 21: Marlon Williams, WR, Central Florida  - This guy reminds me of a poor man's AJ Brown. He has the size and after the catch ability to be a threat in the passing game. Round 7 Pick 21: Robert Hainsey, OT/OG, Notre Dame - Simply a depth pick here who can play both G and RT if desperate.
    • He went roughly 4-6 weeks without speaking with his head coach.   Wentz doesn’t appear to connect all that well with fellow teammates.  He’s a little shy, quiet and maybe reserved.   Yes, if he plays great, the rest will matter less, but it will still matter.    Because QB is the most important position on any team,  leadership is a natural part of the job description.  It comes with the job.  Hopefully the exceptional culture on the team will help bring out the best in Wentz in and off the field....
    • Hasn't really accomplished anything to be deserving of a # he wants. Need to show me the money!
    • So Smith wants to play, and he wants a chance to win. So he should sign with a team where his best chance of playing is if the team benches their starter at the end of the season because they're not going to make the playoffs... ???   I'd love to have Alex Smith as our backup, but I don't think this is even close to the kind of situation he'll be looking for. I think San Francisco, potentially Houston, the Jets, Dolphins, Broncos, Bears, all offer better opportunities for Smith to start. And there are a ton of teams that have legitimate playoff aspirations in 2021, including teams from that list.    If he wants to be a legitimate veteran backup on a good team, knowing that the better the team does, the less likely it is that he'll actually see the field, the Colts would be a great fit. But I don't think that's what he wants.   And that's before we even talk about the money.
    • Right now, those three cost ~$13M/year. After this, they will cost 4x that amount.   They deserve it...and will get it...but the cap situation is going to get very complicated with a QB under contract as well (if Wentz pans out). I don't envy Ballard and Bluem here.   Me personally...I would be very interested in at least finding out what type of premium draft capital I might be able to get for one of those players. Not saying I am looking to trade them at all...but there's more than one way to play it going forward and Ballard will explore options. It is just very difficult to outspend every team on the OL and carry a top 10 QB salary (if Wentz plays well enough to get extended) for an extended period.
