I'm ambivalent about giving up a first--would rather give up 2 second rounders--but in any event I think there are possibly as many as 4 teams drafting before the Colts who 1) need a QB and 2) aren't in a position to draft Lawrence, Wilson or Fields. They might be willing to give up their #1 (and maybe some other later round choices too) for Stafford if they feel that would get them into the playoffs as soon as 2021.

Lots of things can either change or develop between now and the start of next season. Personally I don't assume that GM/coach speak is 100% accurate. -
think San Francisco will probably be a serious player as well.....maybe even New Orleans but if the new GM would prefer to move Stafford out of the NFC altogether, maybe the Colts do have a shot; otherwise, I guess Ballard either re-signs Jacoby, or signs someone like Fitzpatrick, and names Eason as the backup since CB's already indicated he doesn't think Eason's ready yet. sounds like something will have to be "unofficially" done w/ the Lions fairly soon, since Stafford's contract includes a $10 million roster bonus if he's still with Detroit in early March.
