Bills Are Trying, And Now They Admit It

I feel like if the Giants turned down the Jets offer to move down to 6, there’s no way they drop to 12. Then again, it might just be the NY thing, but still. I feel like Giants want to stay 2.

Either they feel like they can get a better offer or they are going to grab a QB.

If the rumors about Cleveland liking Josh Allen are true, then I think QB's go 1, 2, 3 with NYG taking Darnold. I think then the Jets would take Rosen but if they take Mayfield, Denver loves Rosen and would take him at 5 if he's there and nobody trades up with the Browns at 4 which the Browns sound unlikely to do at this point. That means 4 QB's in the top 5 and either Barkley or Chubb is available at #6.

If the Browns take Darnold, I think Buffalo works out a deal with NYG.

This was written yesterday referencing MMQB on SI by Peter King, thought I'd post it:

I still believe, Baker Mayfield, if available at No.5, would be John Elway's selection, IMO. We will see how it turns out.

I think the Browns at #4 will be there best option to move into the top-5.  Other than that I just do not see anyone else moving.

After the Colts, the rest of the top 10 do not need a QB!! { Bucs, Bears, 49'ers, Raiders}.  All of them targets to trade with, and cost less too.

There is absolutely no way the NYG turned down the Jets offer, or a similar offer from the Bills, just to take a nonQB position player.  If they turned down and are turning down offers, they are taking a QB.

But I don't think its true.  I doubt they turned down the Jets and won't turn down a proper Bills offer.

We were referencing best case scenario for them to get a QB they want.

Trade with Tampa.  If Ballard sees a potential Gold Jacket player at 6, we wont trade.  NY Giants wont trade, because they will demand much more than the Bills will pay.

John Mara says Jets never call them about a trade.  Just Browns and Colts.

Yeah, the rumors the NYG turned them down made no sense really, only unless they covet a QB.

Part of it is the crosstown rivalry and fear that one team will win a trade, so I don't think the NYG and NYJ look to trade with each other.  And the Jets prolly just figure their QB will be there at 3.

Even better for us if it goes, QB, Barkley, QB, Chubb, Nelson

My hunch is the Giants are taking a QB. They are going to need a new QB within 2 years so might as well take him while you’re in the perfect draft position to do so. Then he can sit for a year.

Maybe Giants will take a QB and then Bills will trade for #4 and take a QB so that the first 4 picks are all QBs :)

I don't remember another draft in recent years being this up in the air.  Maybe it is just because the Colts are picking early so I am paying more attention to the top 10.... but it sure seems like the top 10 could go A LOT of different ways.  April 26th is going to be a fun day

Exactly. So unsure.  And cannot trust any report from anybody (even trustworthy guys).  This is 'lying season'.  Teams are protecting their board and potential decisions with everything they can, including putting out false information.

I think Denver takes Chubb to pair with and take over for Miller when the time comes.  Denver won one SB with a great D and non-elite QB play (sorry folks), and Keenum seems to be the perfect QB for a team that wants to win with a  dominant D.  I don't think they are looking for a QB after signing Keenum.  Reportedly, Elway tried to trade for Keenum back when he was with the Rams.

I think you are missing my point.  I said the Browns #4 pick in order to get a QB they want.  This is to jump in front of Denver who might want someone.  Trading with us only matters if a guy is there they want very bad and want to make sure to get him before anyone else, via pick or trade as well.

Bucs and Bears at #7 and #8 do not need QBs either, so if Ballard wants too good of a deal, the Bills, if they are settling for the #3 or #4 or #5 QB in the draft at that point, will gladly trade with the Bucs or Bears. The only X factor is how bad do the Dolphins and Cardinals want QBs?

I'd rather push the draft equity into next year by taking both of the Bills first rounders and a 2019 1st rounder so that the rookie contracts and draft equity can be spaced out (instead of both of Bills first rounders and pick No.53 giving us several 2nd rounders all of whose contracts come due at the same time).

The draft remains exciting because of the teams that need QBs. :)

Where as I see what you are saying I am not sure why you are avoiding my clear point.  The Bills have mentioned wanting t o move up for a QB.  This means they will likely want to try and move up past Denver assuming there is still a clear third or forth QB there they want.  If they hold off and do not move up based on preference or asking price being to high then yes they can sit where they are or maybe just try and jump the Cards and trade with Oakland.  I get that point!

Im not believing him. The Jets offer to the Colts was one of desperation, like they called the teams at 1 and 2, and realized there was a real chance if they stayed at 6, they miss out in their qb.

Yes, I agree that if the Bills are moving up and going all in, they will throw the kitchen sink at the Giants at #2 or Browns at #4 to get ahead of Jets and/or Denver. I would hate to be in their position right now.

    • He doesn't need to prove anything to you or anyone else.
    • I think Zach Hicks said it best, well, he could've clean it up a little bit
    • Of course the speed is real unique in terms of him always being a top level separator. What I also like for him to be such a big dude is his feet. He's actually pretty nimble after the catch in small spaces.  I thought he just played on the outside but I've seen LSU play him from the inside as well. Also see them throw him quick hitter, screen type passes that he makes extra yards out of. I think he has very good hands and he is good with his routes. I didn't dwell much on attacking the football because that can be taught if it's an issue. I've seen some say he doesn't always go all out every time but no prospect is perfect in college. If I had things to fix I don't see big holes in his game. Just few things I like but not exhaustive
    • What do you mean back with a bang?  PFF rated Hooker 77.3 and Blackmon 68.3 in 2023.   Not a huge difference for a pick 15 and a pick 78? who had "injuries limiting their once all pro careers".  LOL.  But they did not play exactly the same roles.  Hooker was ranked poorly in terms of most stats, while Blackmon pretty average.   Example: Hooker was targeted only 10 times while allowing 8 receptions (ranked 90th).  Blackmon was targeted 44 times allowing 31 receptions (ranked 18th)  There are nuances with the stats though.  Hooker had only 31 tackles for a 75th ranking while Blackmon had 72 tackles for a 17th ranking.  Obviously, Hooker was asked to play FS like a goal keeper on a soccer team, which is about all he could ever do, while Blackmon probably had more different responsibilities.  JMO.   DeJean at 22 or later plus a 3rd round pick would give us probably a better all around FS/SS than either while picking up another player from a trade down.  Not that I'm advocating it.  Just one plausible event in a sea of fantasy drafting.   Brian Thomas or Chop Robinson at 22 would be nice too, IMO. Or even a RT.
    • Maybe his mannerisms, speech, and occasional (apparent) emotional public interjections (Saturday, comments about Daniel Snyder, etc.) play a part in public perception.   A truly recovering addict would admit his contribution to public perception and would not lay it off onto bigots, as he is indirectly doing.   He's probably not truly recovered and I would take anything he says about his issue as being a flat out lie until proven otherwise.
