Sirius XM’s Moving The Chains, Mock V1.0

Recommended Posts

On Friday Jim Miller and Pat Kirwin held their first Mock draft of the year.  In it, Barkley went # 2 to the Giants and Chubb went # 4 to the Browns.  I was worried about the Broncos, but they went QB, allowing the Colts to take Nelson in the six slot.

This version 1.0 Mock did not allow for trades.

They projected us sneaking in to get one of the big three non QBs.  I would be very pleased if this were to be the outcome, assuming no further trade down.

I think I have evolved into preferring Chubb and going OL in the second, but it looks more and more like there is no way Chubb will slide.  Nelson would be an excellent consolation.

The mocks are pretty much all we have left to have fun with.  But I think we all know there will be at least one more trade in the top 10. so the mocks are all about keeping readership and interest. These mocks should quickly turn into trying to project trades to maintain interest for as long as they can.

Not trying to stir the pot here - just found the bolded to be a funny line.  I am glad that you can rest easy knowing a mock draft went the way you wanted.

I don't see how one of Nelson, Chubb or Barkley don't fall to Indy at # 6.  I am not convinced that:

     * the Giants trade of JPP means they are in on Chubb

     * Gettleman saying Eli has years left means they are out on a QB.

     * Denver signing Keenum means they won't draft a QB

I think at least 3 QB's go in the top 5 and would not be surprised if that actually turns into 4.

The line you bolded is meant to be my expression that in the real draft, I am concerned that Denver might wreck it for who I hope the Colts get.  Thus, I was anxious to see who Jim Miller & Pat Kirwin mock to Denver, for I respect them as learned prognosticators.  Ergo, if all of the learned prognosticators are predicting that Denver messes up who I hope the Colts can get, then that concerns me.  If instead predictions are for things not getting messed up, then I have a level of comfort, even though I am well aware that things might be different in the real draft.

In the Sirius XM Mock, they had the Giants take Barkley, not Chubb.  I agree, though, that the trade makes the selection of Chubb a much more likely possibility.  In fact, Kirwin has been saying for the past week that if the Giants don’t trade out of the #2 spot, he would say they either take Chubb or draft their future QB.  In this first mock of theirs, though, Jim Miller had the even draft numbers and he prefers the Giants go Barkley.

Giants QB situation, question is does Eli have just a couple of years, or years as in 3-4 or more?  If it’s only a couple, strong argument can be made to take the QB of the future, as they’re in a spot to do so, whereas in the years to come, they will likely not be in such a great draft spot.

In the four spot, pretty sure the Browns take either Barkley, Chubb, or Nelson, depending upon who’s available, unless they trade out of that spot, which I think is unlikely, but you never know.

I disagree about Keenum and I don’t buy Elway saying or implying Keenum is their answer at QB.  He’s a bridge QB for maybe a couple of years at best, no more than that.  If the Broncos see a QB available that they think can be their long term answer, it does make sense to grab him at five.  If it were me doing the drafting, though, I’d prefer to take Nelson to rebuild their OL.  Hence, my worry that one of Chubb, Nelson, or Barkley can even get to the six spot.

    • I Respectfully disagree.  I do agree that Shane is trying to win games.   What I don’t agree on is that he’s using AR to his full advantage to do so.  It may be injury concern, or that he feels AR isn’t quite back to 100% from surgery.  But he’s not using him like he did last season.    I’m not saying it’s wrong, and I hope it’s for the best.  But I think ARs development is more important to the franchise than winning right now.   I gave the example of Daniels.  They’re letting him run, it definitely helps them to stay in games.  That may not be a smart strategy if he ends up like RGknee, but you can see they’re trying to win now.
    • To use an off season surgery as an excuse is bollocks....    He needs to step up his game and start performing. In many ways he honestly looks like one of the 5 worst QB´s in the league and again, to use a shoulder surgery as an excuse is just pure bollocks.   There simply is no development in his game, and his huge upside is what? tell me?    I don´t think one second that we will ever come close to winning anything with him as our QB.   and to make things worse read this: https://www.espn.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=2176813
    • And yet, PFF didn't grade him all that high last year.  My response to this is that the scheme is designed for the MLB and the SS to make most of the tackles.  And they do. But last year, Franklin allowed a 77% completion rate with 10.2 yards per completion, and 7.9 yards per target.  In summary, he makes a lot of tackles by scheme, but he also allows a lot of completions. I don't think of him a Great.  Or even Good.  He's Fair.   https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/F/FranZa00.htm
    • Probably still won’t shut people up lol. But that is interesting  We are 3 games in after a shoulder surgery. What are you talking about.
    • Every bottom feeder team has a good player or two. Are the colts a bottom feeder? At times they play like it.    the “forum GMs” as you call them, don’t dislike when a player does well. They just hate when the team sucks. There’s nothing wrong with that. And no one here says some of the Colts players aren’t good players.    the Colts stunk it up pretty bad in the first two weeks, lost game one again a stat that we have held for over a decade. In must win games, the colts perform exceptionally awful with a mind boggling level of consistency under this regime.    the good players that the Colts have tend to also not show up in those games and make any game changing plays.    ok so Franklin can tackle. So what? Yeah the forum GMs are shaking with rage because of that!
