Post Your Mock Drafts

Here's my 2.0: We trade back with the Bills in exchange for both their firsts, and a second. We also send them our third rounder to even out the unbalanced points

1.1: Derwin James, S, FSU: The more I look into this guy, the more I want him. We're going back to a 4-3, and we all know how important the safety play is in a 4-3. Paired with Hooker, this secondary is starting to get nasty

1.2: Leighton Vander Esch, LB, Boise State: No brainer pick. One of the better LB's in the draft. Day one starter.

2.1: Will Hernandez, G, UTEP: Protect the QB

2.2: Jaire Alexander, CB, Lousville: He's honestly my favorite CB in the draft, and he seems to be falling in a lot of mocks I've seen. That's good for us. Very instinctive CB with ballhawk type hands. Easy pick.

2.3: Connor Williams, T, Texas: He may, and probably won't be here at this pick, but it seems to me he's falling down boards as well. Protect the QB.

2.4: Maurice Hurst, DT, Michigan: Health concerns may cause him to drop this far, and that would be a godsend for us. If he's gone, Adren Key from LSU is my pick here

4.1: Shaquem Griffin. LB, UCF: I firmly believe Griffin can be an instant starter a WILL for us. He's an amazing story, and would still love to see him in the blue and white

5, 6, 7: BPA

i feel like Leighton Vander Esch is way overhyped i think he can be a good player but i don't feel like he should be taken in the first round maybe end of the second top of the 3rd round for sure. Doesn't get off blocks well. struggles to get through thrash...is on the ground entirely too much for me. plays a lot smaller than his size. not a lot of production for him also. i like Evans over him i think he'd be like the 5th or 6th best LB on the board to me. Not someone I'd take in the first 50 picks though.

I took this mock in a different direction:  feeling the Colts need multiple positions with better quality football players.  I looked at the first 5 picks (Barkley, Chubb and Nelson) were all gone by 6.  In the Mock, Chicago offered 3 picks to move to 8.  At that position, I looked at various scenarios, but my mind went back to 2006 and trying to figure how we would have looked with a Suh/Ngata DT pushing a pocket with those DEs.  It came down to Vita and Payne, I went with Payne.  With the trade we wound up with the additional 2nd (#7) and with the talent in the later rounds of this draft, I felt comfortable moving back and loading up on guys in the 5.4-5.8 ratings and fill as many holes as possible.  Made a couple realistic trades to move back in additional rounds due to other team needs.   13 total picks which is most likely not going to happen, but what you find in this years draft, there are quality guys in the 7th and going into UDFAs.   Ballard has the ability to fill out the roster with quality football players this season.   My preference is to take one of the 3 we all see on our mocks and most of the pundits.  Thanks for insights or conversation.  GO COLTS

How could getting Derwin James at 18 draw an A minus?  Tough grading scale.

I'm not sure the people who play these internet simulations realize that the people who run these websites have NO IDEA that the people who run these websites have little idea of what they're doing.

The mocks pisted here have no basis in reality.  The chances of these mocks happening is right around zero.

The players are either going way too high or way, WAY too low.  Those who run these websites don't know who these players are or when they're likely to be drafted.

But I keep seeing all these posts...   mock after mock ...   posted as if this might happen...    not sure why...   happens every year...

Look,  the mocks are fun and addictive...   but they're not the least bit realistic...

I can't stop doing these, but I believe I'd be more than happy if our draft went like this:

Chubb gives us the pass rusher the Colts have been missing since Mathis retired.  LVE can help with the pass rush while also providing run support.  Hernandez gives us a G with a nasty attitude and demeanor.  Hopefully, that will infect the rest of the OL.  And I really like Burks and Scales to build our LB core, although I think Scales can be used as a hybrid LB/S covering TE's and RB's across the middle.  Cobbs gives the Colts a big WR with production to match.

Here's an unpopular one, but I would like it a lot.

With Charles Barkley on the team, teams have to respect the run. Puts far less pressure on the QB and OL as well. Keeps the defense off the field.

1 - Charles Barkley (RB)

2 - Marcus Davenport (DE)

2 - Leighton Vander Esch (MLB)

2 - Isaiah Oliver  (CB)

3 - Deon Cain (WR)

4 - DaShawn Hand (DT)

5 - Shaquem Griffin (OLB)

6 - Daniel Carlson (K)

7 - Troy Apke (S)

I've found that Fanspeak is generally WAY off, First Pick is usually pretty realistic, and Draftwired is pretty solid as well.

Personally, I use First Pick most often (although I used Draftwired almost exclusively last season). If I see a guy fall that I don't think would, I just skip them and try to keep it as realistic as I think it could be.

If you can take a compliment.....

You are not most people around here!   And that's a good thing!   A great thing!

You know what you're seeing...   not everyone does.

I'm not trying to tell anyone to stop playing them.   Have fun.   Have a good time.  Just don't confuse them with reality, because there's almost nothing about them that I think is realistic.

I definitely appreciate the kind words.

I also agree that you should have fun, but try to keep it realistic. If it's not realistic, at least make the disclaimer that you don't think your results are realistic, but wanted to share the results any how.

Not realistic (not many drafts are), but if the Colts came away with this, Ballard would win Exec of Year for the decade. Nice draft, even if not possible.
